Try and prep as well as can be and then just have a standard procedure in place for complaints. As for control issues, that can easily be overcome by doing a thorough handover explaining the controls, switches and buttons on collection and doing a quick demonstration. If nothing else it makes the customer feel like you care and helps with recommendations to their friends rather than just throwing the keys at them and getting a squiggle on the V5.

Thanks for the replies, Just keep using them then, got no choice really have we? Why you cant do it online and pay by card is beyond me in this day and age. Trade plates are the only time ever use a cheque book. Thanks again.

I often hear of guys that source stock direct from main dealers; they paint a lovely picture. But, it can only be a matter of time before main dealers who sell off their p/x's direct get to hear about the prices that are being made at auction?

We do our own warranties, we have been using Law Data for years. That issue i mentioned above got to Consumers Direct from both of us, they said to me it was the customer's choice to buy the car from you, from such a distance so you have the right to ask the customer to bring the car back to be repaired to the garage it was purchased from. Consumers Direct said there are so many cars for sale in between us and where the customer came from, why yours? because yours was a better deal / bargain!!

HaHa, Completely agree ,they were laying into someone called Basil when I last looked, looked again today and its still going on! Cant believe it, very entertaining until they turned nasty on him, that's what I like about this forum, no bullyboy tactics, there's more respect for peoples opinions because its open even if people don't put there names and details on here - so what?. Not one or two opinionated people driving their own agenda in a secret little dark clubroom. And I reckon that Beth's one of those avatars, its really a hairy arsed developer called Geoff from Wigan

Posted on it once about 4 years ago but stopped viewing the posts last year, thought I'd just take another quick look now and its like groundhog day and I remember why I stopped. I stopped going on there as I got depressed, nothing but autotrader bashing and negativty. there's a handful of very noisy people with their own agenda using it as their platform. If they were serious about wanting answers to questions and issues then they'd ring someone up or speak to their rep not post on a forum or go onto a social site., they didn't want answers, they wanted an audience. lost all credibility for me. When I have a problem with autotrader I ring up my rep who comes and see's me, I don't whinge in front of my colleagues, I whinge to him. autotrader are far from perfect but I'm not surprised they're closing it to be honest,

They need VRS in the title Also, the first photo your buyer will see in the search results in very poor, you can hardly see the car when browsing a list of results. I'm starting to think I should consult for all of these new traders looking for advice this week !

so they are VRS's? if they dont try putting VRS in the headline grabber making it searchable

Didn't really use it. Kind of depressing place where everyone moans about silly things, moaning about new products from AT, moaning about Bethany's replies or just in general adults being sulky children. I'm not one to bang AT's practice as many of you know, but they have a business model that works well for some dealers. If it doesn't work for you, don't pay it and use your money more wisely elsewhere. I can see why they closed the forum.

I've got a gorgeous Octavia DSG petrol in perfect old boy spec that i've been looking at for six months now. Finally got a tickle, hardly surprising given it's £500 below where it should be. Not a fan of them tbh. I think lacking a Skoda MD around our area doesn't help but we should still be getting AT hits and we're not.

Ditto......The banner looks like an afterthought...Nice website, good stock,I would embellish your CVs on the website,if it is a family business get some photos taken from within your workshop, family, staff, kids, dog etc it will present an image of a proper garage business. You have to try and present an image that may help those punters who may live 30 miles away to make the effort to come and view your stock......more bullshit needed !

Agreed with all said above, and i never show the engine bay no matter how clean it is people worry about engines and your reminding them about there fears.

There second hand cars no matter how hard you try things go wrong. I stick to what I know so when it goes wrong it’s rare I don’t know what it is.

There's a lot wrong with the photos and text. Go look at some better advertised ones and try again IMO.

Ooooh do u think Bethany will come on here?? I have really missed her bullshit replies since they banned me from there

I agree this is the best way, but my point above remains in that when you look how much you can sell a car for, the prices on AT are just an advertised price - doesnt actually mean anyone will sell one at that rate
