Citroen Help Please

Guys

I have a 2011 DS3 1.6HDI 110 which I sold before Christmas.

Customer is amazingly patient and it has been back a few times for service light reset/reisk of particulate filter blocking.

We have had the car for a week and finally fitted a new DPF cartridge and all good.  I drove the car numerous times and redelivered it yesterday - no faults, powerful and smooth.

Today, despite new DPF and pressure pipe plus telling the ECU the DPF has been replaced - same message occured.

I ahve offered a full refund but customer loves the car and wants me to fix it.  We are scratching our heads here, anyone have any ideas?

Is there a fluid injector in that car that injects eolys fluid to aid DPF burn?

Yes - it is a bladder tank saying 3/4 full

We had a Citroen C4 Picasso into Citroen for diagnosis of a random fault in November

They rang me next day and said no fault found and we won't be charging you. Couldn't believe it!

Definitley, the bladders leak occasionally as they chafe through inside the case they sit in.

Mark, try the DPF doctor website, I know i recommended it on your Volvo problem, they have a good network of guys that know all of the DPF faults and will probably nail it in the first visit.

The top guy from them is local to us and he holds DPF training days. He is extremely knowledgeable in all DPF faults on a wide variety of different makes and models.

Exactly, we have a Peugeot 308 that it taking the piss out of us at the moment..... It has to be filling up too quickly.

I will keep you updated.  No more messing around, customer is nice as pie and wants a repair, so will seek Citroen specialist or even main stealer.

Just a daft one, is it getting up to temp okay? A friend had it on his personal car a while ago, turned out the thermostat was stuck open and the regen cycle wouldn't kick in because of it.

The car has had everything done and service issue (DPF) has come on after less than 20 miles on a new filter cartridge.

Yes, it comes up to temperature and prior to changing the DPF accepted 2 forced regens and believe me it got hot (but very little smoke).

I am not a techy and only have a generic scanner which doesn't read the car.

The workshop have Snap Off but before doing the DPF replacement, they called in a favour from a chap with Dealer Level diag.  Again, only third party information and I have some doubts.

You need Peugeot planet/diagbox. The cost of the machine and the cables is the cost of getting a car diagnosed once......

Puegeot planet is a great machine, as long as you know how to use it. Like most of these things, I'm not sure many do.

Mark, if your still stuck with this next week give me a shout as I'm away at present. It woukd require a trip up to God's Country though and an overnight stay, but i seem to recall your old man is up this neck of the woods.

Exactly this, and believe me, PP is one of the easiest Dealer Level machines to use.

Note:-  just because the Car says DPF message does not mean it is actually choked. My money is on the Pigs Piss Tank / Pump.

The first 2 Snap On Machines spoken of above probably had older software, the one that finally did it was probably up to date ...............

I have just had my Solus Ultra Pro brought bang up to date over my Xmas Hols, and it is now doing a helluva lot more, the old software would often proclaim to do this that and the other but it didn't, whereas now it actually seems to do "what it says on the tin" 

So to those of you with Snap On, who may be a bit like I was, i.e getting fed up with it's shortcomings, getting it updated was worth the £600 ;).

If the Dpf light is on solid it is a Dpf issue.

If it’s flashing it is usually in need of a service. However like you I found out the hard way, on the other half’s Mazda 6 2.2 diesel, that it means the timing chain is stretched.

Learned the hard way about 7 years and wont touch any french car or cars with french engines again might sell well but nothing but trouble unless its an old peugeot 406 estate with the 2.0 hdi now that is a good engine

Same attitude as myself, polite n easy customers get great service, the rude get a rough ride. 

 

See, I don’t think it is choked whatsoever - for some reason it just thinks it is.

My old 4.4 TDV8 was sublime - sure that’s  a Pug Unit.

I was specialising in these a few years ago, had to be diesel and estate, the 110 bhp were the best. We even had a couple come from France to buy one and I think that is saying something about this machine.

Old is gold, last 1 we sold was about 4 years ago executive model leather sat nav sunroof electric seats chap who bought was selling shit on qvc but what a machine dont make them like they used do
