I must be the only one who gets them next working day? Helps our cash flow I thought more would do the same to be honest. I am quite impatient mind lol.

1 Car you can can always retail quickly, take a good margin out of and don't seem to need big prep bills? For me it has to be Petrol Rav4's. Really low in the book, sell quickly and always do good margin out of them. Most seem to be pretty well cared for with good history. Not many people seem to want them at auctions. Probably signed a death warrant here but never had one come back, yet - touch wood etc.

How long does it take for your funds to enter your account when taking payment via debit card. is it next working day, 3 days etc? Was chatting with a trader at sales the other day and his take 3 days to arrive with him.

Currently 21 cars sold in October and 20 have gone out the door. Today has actually been dead so far though. Not one phone call, only 1 email enquiry, not one viewing and no one has just turned up. Time to get a McDonald's soon as I try to eat it someone will turn up .

There are genuine people who will pay in that way for the vehicle. If you see the card, the person had photo id and a proof of address in reality there will be no issue.
-
I would do it. Ask for a bank transfer for payment in full and get them to put the reg number as the reference. Alternatively take the card payment over the phone using post code and house number to ensure a match. Then when delivering the car ask to see the card they used to pay along with photo ID. Personally I would be delivering the car as a delivery agent not arranging a test drive etc on the customers door step. In my opinion you are delivering a car that is sold and purchased not travelling 200 miles for a customer to have a think about it and try and haggle you down on price. We have probably delivered 4 cars over the last 6 weeks and they do tend to go smoothly. I always vet the customer as much as possible over the phone, google search the location, ask the customer if they are happy to drop the driver at the nearest station. Most people/customers are nice and not scammers. Get it sold Max another one out the door.

We do a few deliveries and sell cars over the phone. I think also it will play a huge part in the future of the trade. For many people cars are simply white goods. My main concern with them is customers going legal on us and wanting to cancel although as of yet not an issue. I do have very good faith in my cars but sometimes things just go wrong or alternatively customers can be a bit loopy. We had a Mazda MX5 that we delivered from Cheshire to the South coast. Customer was a bit annoyed when they realised it was a 2 seater and not a 4 seater MX5 like the other ones they had looked at in person....

Sold a car to anyone with a great name?

That has just cracked me up.Once something sets me off laughing I can't regain composure. -
you can still do that one. It's the mileage checking one which shows pass/fail history of all previous MOTs that's currently offline.

Car Dealer Expo CDX16 Headline Speaker - who do you want?
Rory RSC replied to James Baggott's topic in General Dealer Chat
Guy Martin. Owner of one of the big car supermarkets Ford of Winsford/ Available car supermarket would be interesting for me. -
I no longer use the Razor sites but what I used to do was in the header text box type Sorry now sold!!! You can then tick a box that stops the car featuring on your autotrader advertising package but still shows on your website for as long as you like. I usually did that until the customer had collected the car and to make us look like had sold a nice few cars.

You know when you get a part ex and you look at it, look at the customer and their angelic little 2 year look back at the car and think you drove that here? From 150 miles away? On a motorway. 1 week later they complain the air con needs re gassing on their new roadworthy purchase.....

Week 1 into October how are things looking ? Not a bad start here but seem to have been hit with loads of really bad PX cars. I try to retail everything whereever possible but have 5 cars that are just beyond that so they will be going through a local cheapie auction tonight.

Recommendations for a finance company please
Rory RSC replied to Rosemotors's topic in General Dealer Chat
I use close brothers. Found their rep to be very helpful and knowledgeable. He has taken us on a night out recently and given us a healthy bit of stock funding with some quite flexible options. Motonovo came out, turned their nose up at my premises and never bothered getting back to us. Close have the added benefit of using a broker for the declines which can quite often get placed with high rate companies and are a good means to getting the deal done. Finance commission payments are a nice bonus at the start of each month also, cant complaint about that. -

Who on earth takes a Cayman to Kwik fit? -
Are you still selling 2.0tdi cars from VW group?
Rory RSC replied to j4ck100's topic in General Dealer Chat
Probably not the best time to have an A4 and 5 Octavias in stock. -
Sold a car around 5 weeks ago. Focus ST. Came back for a knocking noise. Fairly easy fix it was a suspension bush. However the car has a different exhaust on, dump valve and I suspect a remap. Selling more and more sporty type cars and feel this sort of thing may happen more frequently. What would you do?
-
No idea if I am doing things wrong but I have a HPI subscription. Whenever a PX comes in I HPI the car to check free from finance/ write off status. HPI gives me the options of ticking boxes to get Cap or Glasses valuations. That is how I value the PX's. It does also give an option to do a comparison retail checker type product. I have never used it. I always just look at what other examples are selling for on Autotrader myself.

My emissions problems only tend to start after a hearty breakfast.
-
I wouldn't let them. They can cause problems if not used correctly or disconnected properly or so I am led to beleive. That's how some keys are cloned aswell. Happily let my mechanic plug in and show him our own diagnostics reading if pre arranged. To be fair anyone like that will be an arse it the car loses 3 psi out of a tyre. Some olk are just plain strange. Personally hate customers that have been in the trade and try to take control and act like the one you have described.

Those car choices are not the best. personal experience is that small first car buyers are so picky and have all the time in the world to hunt around. 1.6 Ford Focus petrols will always sell. Family cars. Petrol rav4s are unlikely to give you much headache, people need them not want them this time of year. Or at least they think they do. They book low easy to pull a margin out of them. Anyhing else just just to with what works you will have seen what sells at your place you have worked.

you have some nice stock about you very good work. Whats the prep costs like on caymans? Are they fairly robust ?
-
Mad busy here today. 5 Cars sold on my own with valeter being sent on test drives. Not one discount given. Ready for a curry and to sleep tonight. 2 packets of Space raider crisps for the working lunch has not quite satisfied my hunger.

Hard work finding clean Zafiras. Really tend to be scruffy. I have never struggled with the 1.8 Sri petrol model always tend to fly out.
