Get stuck in and best of luck. Its not all doom and gloom and selling a few cars and dipping your toe in is sensible rather than selling your house / heirlooms and walking out of a job into a 50 car pitch with no experience. Best way to learn this job is to actually buy and sell, make some money, take some losses and develop that feel and instinct you need. The post Rish made that has been quoted above is excellent.

Great event / Just not the chance to be in all the talks/workshops at the same time is there.

That narrows it down to about 80% of people at most auctions.

I have just done an SOR deal for a family member on a car with manufacturer warranty on it never again for family as it has caused me far more hassle than it was worth, when I was actually trying to do them a favour. Sometimes you can't win

No I won't slate you, I agree with a few of your points particularly for the dealers who it is not working for that just moan moan moan. Adapt and survive is the key in any business and that goes for dealers aswell as AT. AT are in business to make money I don't begrudge that. I sell most of my cars from AT so actually my cost per car sold attributable to AT is actually a lot lower than most as we turn a lot of stock thanks largely to AT. Sponsored adverts is not fair. Its not level, It does not benefit us dealers. It does not benefit customers. It is just simply sneaky, underhand and out of order. There is nothing more to it than that. Do customers know what they are seeing? Do customers understand what they are seeing? No. Not at all.

Arrived at work to find door kicked in and office turned over this morning Obviously searching for keys but nothing found. Whilst generally I am positive and upbeat etc it's put me in a right bad mood and disrupted a couple of handovers. Moan over back to it

No idea who kicked that one off guys as I say finance rep sent it to me, a dealer somewhere started it but the names were blanked. I tried posting on AT forum but it has gone to moderation.

So very true, particularly on a 5/10 year old second hand 'laptop' that has had many many hours of use Customer has completely gone about things the wrong way, I would be evidencing as much as possible for my own records and communicating via email/letter at this point. You speak to the supplying dealer when you have an issue, it really is that simple. That is what normal people do to get normal problems sorted. You could instruct an engineer of your own accord and if they agree in the interests of being reasonable with the customer offer to make a goodwill contribution despite customer going about things incorrectly.

Sorry to hear of your situation. Its not all doom and gloom though as I have just had an ongoing matter looming over me for the last 12 months which has finally been struck out. Remember a lot these claimaints have had bad advice from citizens advice and don't know what they are doing. Anyone can take you to court does not mean they are right. For what its worth I really would sign up with lawgistics and take no delay in getting some advice. Cost for them is very low and they offer some very strong and robust advice surrounding the court process. I really, really can't ever fathom the whole bought a car, light popped on and dealer says no problem I will take a look and customer throws toys out of pram wanting to reject it. They are then going to go and buy somewhere else, and I always hope they buy from someone else who throws the sim card away after the sale and offers no come backs. Sometimes you just can't argue or reason with stupid.

Extra point - don't send V5s off online instantly wait 30days. Saves the mither. Set up a special folder for 'challenging customers' and the ones you feel may be trouble stick theirs to the side.

Always try to get cars back to you. In you acting like a decent dealer and trying to help the customer Halfords have stepped in and condemned the car. the Halfords report is probably a load of BS so get the car back and see if there actually are any faults or if it's just a case of it's a second hand Land Rover with second hand parts that's all worn to a degree. If you have missed some things that should have been done prior to sale apologise and offer to put right. If customer reluctant to accept just refund and sell it to someone else.

If you are the policy holder and are covered for business plus SDP then should be fine right?

Good strong start here how is everyone else fairing? 7 days in 9 sold. We have had a right good couple of months on finance sales also which is a really welcome bonus.

Manheim are the same - Bought a few Galaxys recently grade 4 online. Literally needed 4 alloy refurbs and a very, very thorough wet vac on the interior.

Discoverys. Everyday you discover something else wrong with them.

I usually find a lot of people keep that in the glovebox of their part exchanges. At least thats what I assume must be in them, given the ludicrous amounts they expect to get
