Just do it and move on. You said you would anyway and if you don't bad reviews etc are likely to be far more damaging. I don't agree with the customer on this type of thing and in the next 6-8 weeks will post quite a big thread on a court case pending for a customer who has done something similar to us once it is all done and dusted, regardless of the outcome. Good luck.

April has been a very good month, the weekend just gone has been incredibly busy for me. Did 5 Sales with 3 on finance Saturday plus 4 additional collections and then another 3 on Sunday. 7 of the total sales all took the car away on the same day which was a good result. Now back to trying to replace them all this week and tracking down some decent stock. I get a right buzz out of the job when its busy though, love weekends like that.

Wait til the finance company starts telling you you need to do it... despite numerous items of evidence showing it was free from fault at time of sale.

Diesels still shifting here nicely. I have been selling quite a lot newer cars over the past few months some of which still has manufacturers warranty - Such a lovely feeling not having to stand them if anything goes wrong

Really don't. Not all customers are bad most really are good people, but some will maliciously damage used cars because they know their rights. I try to see the best in folk but in all honesty people think and expect that the 10 year old car they buy off you is brand new. They do. They don't understand or take into account it's a fraction of the new price. They don't care. They expect everything on it to last for ever and if they have a problem with it then it's your fault. Somehow you should have foreseen it going wrong. i have known some fairly shady and unscrupulous people in my time before being a car dealer and they have nothing on some of the customers I have dealt with

CarKit App for Checking MOT History, Tax Cost, Valuation

You only have to charge those phones up once a week don't you. Takes about 15 mins to charge, and they never really break. -
I think it might just work for your new pitch in that area TBH - Thing is for the cost and potential exposure would you not be better off just spending the same targeting the demographic you need on facebook? Might just help that visual boost combined with targeted facebook / other adverts / google etc 2 weeks is not really that long though to measure any success isnt it. Hard work knowing where to spend the advertising budget.

I managed a few auction bargains this week I thought prices had softened off to be honest.

Good start for us this month. March was actually the quietest month in number of units in the last 12 months for me This Month is already off to a strong start with deposits being taken left, right and centre and loads of enquiries coming through.

Saves hanging around in the auction hall at one auction all day and only buying the stuff one place has to offer when you can be in 3 auctions online picking the stuff best suited to your business. Works for me in the time poor world we live in.

Remember the public are not stupid, not everyone clutches parkers and spouts it for gospel. It is far from transparent though and it has muddied the waters in what should be a simple search. My cars are not prepped the same as the guy who washes them from auction adds £250 and sticks them up for sale. Customers will be turning up to view cars with amazing price markers and end up walking away when they see battered heaps of junk from untrustworthy dealers. How many customers just google a car for example Citroen C1 Cheshire or Focus ST Aberdeen - I have never seen any stats for this type of figure and to be honest have never actually really considered it much. Quite interested if you or anyone for that matter has any data on that Jim. Good luck, FWIW I think you will be fine and continue to grow, you are a strong brand with a strong following and should do well.

What Andy Said. You may have a possible chance if its an AA assured car but from what you are saying unlikely to be the case. You may get some assistance if you buy a lot of cars from BCA - would need to be Hundreds

Who are you dealing with? Any auctions I have had stuff missed ie cosmetic defects on grade 1's I have spoken, sent pics and a quote and they have issued cheques without any massive fuss to be fair. Manheim are very decent for this. Surecheck on the other hand.

We buy quite a few from Bedford - whats the vibe ?

Consumer Rights Act 2015 is destroying my business

Finance 14 day cooling off period is not 14 days to hand the car back. You still own it, you have still bought it you just have to find another way to fund it and walk away with no financial penalty / maybe just interest for the days used. If you force customer into the car they are just going to become a pain, something minor will go wrong and they will go back demanding refund. If they have no deposit into the deal at all you will just never hear from them again so not much you can do. Motonovo will not push abandonment or anything like that I just can't see it. -
Until its blatantly something that the warranty should cover and the warranty company decline to cover it. And you are then left arguing with some 17year old in the warranty company trying to resolve the issue, sending in proofs, chasing up not having heard a response etc etc. You then end up paying to fix it for the customer out of your own pot and you have paid for the warranty. Hence why the administered warranties with your own fund and all the benefits that brings but with A1 warranties (other companies may exist) dealing with the claim etc and being the external warranty provider really do give the best of both worlds.

The business has probably changed. Mahbe Saturday is not the dealing day it used to be as the public don't need to devote a whole day to traipsing round 32 garages before settling on a car. I am still online responding to an email and Facebook messages on cars and with that people can get the info needed anytime. We do still tend to sell cars on Saturdays and Sundays.

Treat people fairly, do things right even when it feels like everything is going against you and you will reap the rewards. Play the long game. It is not about today, now and next week. Visualise 2/3/4 years down the line and stick to it. Best of luck.

Nothing sold since the weekend. We are never quiet like this to be honest, so its quite dull around here compared to the usual activity. Even the bargain PX to clear car's are not selling, been checking the phones working and emailing myself to ensure everything is still activated. We have not done anything differently so I guess just wait it out until things shift the right way again.

Consumer Rights Act 2015 is destroying my business
Rory RSC replied to John13's topic in General Dealer Chat
Jobs hard enough without having to deal with some Joey sat in a finance complaints department on minimum wage reading some internal flow chart about consumer rights. Lawgistics see it for what it is. -
You don't need to. just pay £25 /£50 /£100 into an administered warranty account. Soon builds up. come back and thank me in 6/12 months time. its probably my main regret in this business that I gave warrantywise so much for so long and had to fight and argue to get things covered which was just aggro and stress I didn't need.
-
You can do that with an administered warranty that is self funded. They deal with everything using your own pot. Any surplus left at the end of any given period is yours. And their will be money left. Saved an absolute fortune for my business that way.

Consumer Rights Act 2015 is destroying my business

My example was with a prime finance company. Not Zuto or CF247. 9 year old performance car, has it for months, minor wear and tear issue full refund. I am not the only one this company has put the bully boy tactics onto.
