  1. This post has made me think, the longest we had in stock was a red mini, over a year, nice little thing, flew out the door to the right bum, so to speak... reminds me of a beetle we had which we thought was a nightmare after about 8 or so months, now, this must be going back two years and the garage down the road had a similar one at the time...... just checked and you guessed it.... they still have theirs, go figure!!!!!!!
  2. Thanks for this reminder Dealer, adverts updated and flyers printed 'We do not accept credit cards or Amex'
  3. I would ask the retired guy to write a letter, stating if he used genuine parts!?! if so, i think you could argue it, i didn't think main dealers could hold people to ransom to service for up to 7 years exclusively with them, so long as main dealer parts are used, an avenue worth exploring, we had a Kia with a radio fault, never thought about the 7 year warranty, just rang up to enquire about the fault, the mechanic was very apologetic to tell us that it was just outside the warranty period by weeks!!! no issues of where, who or how the vehicle had been serviced, ok so the work wasn't done, but it does seem to me that Isuzu are wriggling...
  4. Ignore, but if you can't resist a reply offer finance for the balance, just to pee 'em off...they can't afford your car, so they definately won't afford finance, end of conversation...
  5. So, are they actually asking for a refund?? From my personal point of view, if the car has one stamp it would be 'service history' because to me that indicates some but not all - although when advertising it i wouldn't bother mentioning it unless it held a full service or had main dealer servicing, what i can't understand is why they hadn't mentioned it when looking at the car, surely to god these people have a list of must haves in their head and check them off when they are viewing....We did have a guy that rang me up the next day and said the car didnt have rear parking sensors as advertised, at the time autotrader were doing some changeover on their system which i hadn't picked up on and the car was listed with absolutely every option under the sun, when i pointed it out, he just said oh i can see, i should have noticed when it said pearlescent paint and metallic paint !! offered to put some on at cost, he wasnt that bothered tho'... Back to the issue in hand, not sure you've done anything wrong, it had history which you stated, not full or main... therefore not misrepresented imo
  6. I don't mind these calls so long as they follow the sentence with "hello, i bought a car from you" breath and a think "ooh over six months ago...."
  7. Just been having a conversation a few minutes ago with someone who specialises in diesel engine repairs, they have been round the main dealers and say that 95% of new car sales is petrol shocking stats if anywhere near true !!!
  8. This happens with us fairly regularly, i either ring the finance company and get clearance, or, if they still hold an interest i contact manheim, never had a problem with getting clearance, but if i did, i would definately be banging on the door of the auction house, i always assumed it their responsibility and touch wood, haven't been let down by them yet, also when you do your advert, put an end note something like ' finance clearance pending' potential buyers may do their own check and see it has finance, at least you have acknowledged it in the ad...
  9. We have been with them a while, but thinking of cancelling, complete waste of money for us...
  10. BHM, i certainly did, but couldn't blink for the wide eyes for a while!
  11. This one has literally beaten them all, i definately can't top that one!!! not even with the foreigner who collected his car and proudly told me he had passed his theory test that day and produced his middle eastern driving licence to copy for our records, he didn't even know how to tell the car had fuel in it - as in - the petrol guage!!
  12. Thanks for your opinion on our business our reputation is very important to us and we are proud to confirm that we will not be the cheapest in the area or country, we provide a professional, affordable solution to vehicle ownership and sell all our cars with a ... together with a ... and a .... (in our case full service, mot, warranty and if required cambelt change) we welcome any feedback good or bad but do ask that you have the courtesy to at least visit our premises, speak to staff and view our products before comment. Please always bear in mind that our vehicles are priced and prepared to the highest standard by professionals who have been in this business for some xx years, please consider carefully what you post negatively about companies as your comments without substance may well land you in trouble in the future... I would always suggest responding, particularly to muppets, people are viewing and making judgements about purchasing from companies based on their reviews more and more, a response from an owner goes along way towards reassuring those that see the negative to feel that the company has sympathy or compassion towards an a grievance and isn't afraid to confront a problem, equally it is nice to thank those that take the time to respond positively...not as necessary, but a nice gesture
  13. letter on my desk pending return to sender, not know at this address, right address wrong company, i wonder what that is all about!!! How weird tho' that it's obviously a generic letter and all the company names are wrong!! never the less, the customer is responsible for taxing the car and when they turn round and say 'nah i'll do it when i get home' what the hell do dvla expect you to do!!! i am not the police, just an upstanding member of the motor trade...
  14. i use them, all very good, davidwigley@evolutionfunding.com is the area rep for essex, nice guy drop him an email to sort you out...
  15. Arrived at that point some while ago, if their not scamming, their scheming... so, best approach is assume the worst and feel elated when a sale happens and the money a/ stays in your bank account b/ is a sale with a profit!!!!
  16. We had a few vehicle adverts cloned, customers were contacting us about the delivery of their car cause they had paid the deposit!! so we decided to use the plate covers to make it more difficult for the images to be copied, AT seem to have cleaned up their act on dodgy ads, so we don't bother using them now.
  17. Interesting one, let us know how it goes, people never cease to amaze me... we have a pence per mile and an admin fee to return a vehicle, (touching wood) it seems to keep the muppet level down a bit, in this instance we would probably say if the rear defog is working at a ratio of 75% or above then there is nothing we can do unfortunately.... failing that offer the refund which at, lets say 1000 miles, would be the sum total of £795 to return (plus his costs to get it to us).
  18. We opened sundays and bank holidays in our first year, but 7 days was killing us, so we shut sundays and bank holidays, we offer 'by prior appointment' which means that those people that want to book a sunday viewing at 4 on saturday, are too late for us to 'organise' - open again at 8.30 monday or can do early evening by prior appointment!... our best advise is CLOSE you can't get the time back and life is too short, only ever had one guy really grumble that he couldn't believe we shut on sundays but we politely informed him that it was our only day of rest and we all had families to spend time with, he bought the vehicle first thing monday morning and collected before 5 tuesday!
  19. We use sage, not sure it's the most economical in this trade, but vat returns and reports are great, have heard good reports about quick books, but never tried it, we also run a spread sheet, which calculates the everyday costs, happy to send a template if anyone wants it...
  20. Lovely post to boost the spirit, on a ratio, what bad to good do you get we must be 1:100 but it's always the bad ones that make it feel like the other way round, top gift to date was a bottle of boxed champagne...all very nice nice, till we googled it out of interest to see it's value...£160 i kid you not...went from very nice to bloomin lovely... these people are blessings in our day's and your absolutely right, we should shout about them a whole lot more... last week's lovely gift 8 x 12 new boxed 12 ton jack stands!!!!! also had a carrier bag of brand new - unworn white men's vests you can't make this stuff up....
  21. Crikey, havent heard of the AA in ages, so no i wouldn't be interested, as someone has already said, just another company after a piece of pie, appealing to your ego with a wall plaque....huuummm
  22. HAHAHA, brilliant, it's gonna be your week for the Lords blessing!!!!!
  23. Interesting topic, nice template Umesh... so heres a story for you, in the early days we had a chap interested in buying a car, had a test drive, didn't ask for a copy of licence, went on trust... so eventually he bids us, takes his time and then agrees to buy, comes along to collect his car with his friend nearly finished sorting paperwork, ask to see copy his licence for id - didn't recognise it AT ALL, then he says "omg i'm so happy today".."why's that?" i asked, "i couldn't believe it" he explained.."WHAT? WHAT?" i only went and passed my theory test yesterday i was horrified, it gets worse, he gets in the car, then gets out, "how do i know how much fuel it has?" WTF - "look at the petrol guage!!!" "wheres that?" - need i say more...NOW, we photocopy every driving licence, complete the lawgistics form and mostly go accompanied... the running joke with most of them is "you bend it, you bought it..." they look a little perplexed then return the car in the same condition it went out in, happy days...
  24. We opened our sales site over 4 years ago, had a weeks holiday booked so organised the valeter to do the paperwork on the off chance they had a sale ( which he hated nearly had him in tears just showing him the pen!!) , then got a mate to be his second in command. To this day it was the best week we have ever had, sold something like 10 cars one after the other!!! poor lad, talk about out of the frying pan into the fire...needless to say he is s**t hot at all things sales from forecourt to paperwork to warranty to finance applications, as for the holiday thing, well we haven't gone away much since but only cause we don't want to risk missing the action !!!!
