The beer is flowing well in the Canary Islands:)

IMO top quality and reasonable price don't go together, you can get good work at a good price but unless you own your own bodyshop it's not easy getting first rate work at 5 minutes notice ready for collection at the end of the day. Around our way there is a big gap between body shop paintwork and smart repairs. For me I would pay the extra as smart repairs are not always the best - well around here.

Warranty Companies " Who do you choose " total loss of faith
Steve92 replied to Mislead's topic in General Dealer Chat
I thought the abs control until on minis was reasonably common just like it is on BMW's and vag cars .... Have you tried Ecu testing for repairs ? However I think all warranty companies take your money and do everything to not pay out. You could try the " if you don't pay up I'm going to change warranty companies" and see where it gets you. -

Giving a refund but keeping the p/x..?
Steve92 replied to Max Branning's topic in General Dealer Chat
I would have thought the sales of goods act would state they are entitled to a refund on the £2995 and providing they get that then I wouldn't have thought they have any right to the px. It would be registered to you In the trade and you effectively purchased it from them for an agreed amount of £1000 so it's now your property. Legally I would think you are covered. -
3 weeks ago you could have had my own smokey Saab 9-5 estate and some change !

Not at the minute, cheapest thing we have is a Kia Rio 3 @ £6990

I know when I purchased my mini I was annoyed when the dealer put an mot on it when it was 2 3/4's old ... It messed with my OCD. I've not come across anyone who has made us mot the car for having 11 months .... Not 12, I'm probably fussy when it comes to being a customer but even I wouldn't nit pick over that.

Sale of Goods Act 2015...Changes who's heard the news?
Steve92 replied to Trident's topic in General Dealer Chat
Just thinking about this from a different prospective, let's say you mot, service, pdi, replace everything that you buy/sell the additional cost of that work is it greater than what it would potentially cost you if you had to refund the odd purchase. In reality how many cars are returned for a full refund ? The sales of goods act has always been present and although it's been tweaked some dealers still didn't meet there obligation under the old act. I know of 2 incidents at our place, one we gave them there money back and the other we refunded them then had to replace the clutch and dmf and then they purchased it back from us. I know from being involved in mail order at my last company just how difficult people can be they read the Internet and listen to the to and they suddenly think they know everything. I have helped more people when they were honest than people who go on the attack straight away, like someone who's dog chewed a product, he got a free replacement as he was nice compared to a customer who claimed there product didn't work but forgot to say they had dropped it in water. -
I've just been checking some of my old cars now all I need is for the dvla to say where they are resting if not with a private keeper

I've been watching the swift automatics as I'm looking at one for the wife and some seem to sell really quickly.

What about going for one with £0 road tax that way it's done for the customer and there is no money to change hands. I'd be interested in the loophole pm

2 cars collected at the weekend, one being the px of the first collection. A few emails, one no show after agreeing to meet at 8pm ..... Very quite, I'm thinking a graveyard might see more movement.

Recommendations for a finance company please
Steve92 replied to Rosemotors's topic in General Dealer Chat
We use a local broker called Charles and Dean. -
Is there any way of getting customer testomonials on your own website when your website is a generic Autotrader one ? Also for cars that have sold, if you mark them as sold on Autotrader does it automatically remove them from your dealer website ? Can/does it create a cars sold section ? Yes I know could click things but it's not exactly my site to go clicking on everything, for me once a car is sold it should come off the web but it would be nice to show customers what we have sold in the past. Or is the Autotrader site very limited ?

There is also a dedicated one for Audi, not checked to see if Skoda Andy Seat have one. On the Audi one you need to have flash player so it's not so easy to check on the move with an iPad.

Sale of Goods Act 2015...Changes who's heard the news?
Steve92 replied to Trident's topic in General Dealer Chat
We just had a customer take a 2013 Porsche Cayman on the last day of September living in central London. They called yesterday saying the brakes discs were all knackered and needed replacing because the car was squealing under braking and was embarrassing. He had taken the car to kwik fit who told him it needed 4 new discs. Mr kwik fit hung up on me when I asked questions, all I wanted to know was the thickness of a new disc so I could guesstimate the remaining disc life, I later found out new is 28.0 and these were by all accounts just under 27mm. Given the car had covered 25k there must me a good 20-30k left in them... So not knackered like Mr kwik fit quoted. Besides most Porsche brakes squeal at low speed given the type of pad it is and low speed town work isn't going to help. We had something similar with an evoque that was supposedly dangerous to drive and not fit for purpose. We took the car back and gave them a refund, however in 40 days it had covered 3000 miles .... So clearly it wasn't that dangerous. -
Out of interest is it the sline and does it have the 19's as it seems that's what people want. We had a waiting list for coupe tdi's especially in white. We have just taken a black coupe tdi in px against our Boxster so it will be interesting to see how long this takes to move.

Are you still selling 2.0tdi cars from VW group?
Steve92 replied to j4ck100's topic in General Dealer Chat
I think they will still sell. People brought them just because they were vw's in the first place so I cannot see how the emissions will affect genuine people it will be the compensation seeking vultures that will want something out of it. There are already legal teams doing the rounds on Facebook.
