  1. Having worked for a charity and the wife working for a different charity I can safely say any savings should be spent on beer, takeaways and loose women.
  2. Out of interest does anyone read the codes on certain cars before accepting them as a px ?
  3. To be honest no worse than anything else, we tend to buy them with no work required and only with Opc history and with the balance of a Porsche warranty. A Porsche warranty is always going to cover more than any aftermarket warranty a gives buyers piece of mind. If they are tatty or sound like they have any expensive bills then we walk away. the last Cayman I collected had just been serviced by Porsche at a cost of just under £1000 and only 6 days before collection so it I theory should be good for stock. we did take a z4 in px and only after we agreed a price did we notice the massive dent it the wing and a broken nose cone. A bit of machine polishing is needed to.
  4. This week, 2 caymans, boxster, SQ5, A5, 1 series all in the last 2 days, 3 of which were today, 3 of them on finance.
  5. Maybe if they are in that much of a demand then you could try putting them up at a higher price to see what people are prepared to pay. We picked up an sq5 this week and there has been quite a bit of interest in it.
  6. We had one go out on zuto and it was fine, in fact they chased us for an invoice so they could pay.
  7. Electric cars .... Renault Zoe, £75 deposit, £130 a month over 2 years .... Why would you want to buy it when leasing is so cheap.
  8. Are you happy to do it yourself ? Gets some paint ready mixed with the lacquer build it up, den nib or wet flat back with 1500grit, then 2000 then 3000 then polish then refine to remove holograms. Chipex do a kit, have vet a look at this http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=217520
  9. With a private buyers hat on I would think twice about buying from a private address, if it was a focus sold from a 3 bed house for 10k then I'm not sure I would buy. However if it's a nice detached house with plenty of ground and out buildings wooden barn style selling ferraris and Porsches then it would be acceptable to me.
  10. In terms of other sectors, my last role was as a buyer for a charity with a mail order catalogue, our customers were a mixture of private, b2b and local authority. our financial year was April to march, april quiet and Easter always had an impact may picked up june similar to may july not bad but tailed off towards the end because of the holidays august quiet september picked up october busy as we always launched a new catalogue november busy from the overspill from october december seemed busy but in reality you were squeezing 4 weeks into 3 and yes people did want next day delivery when ordering on the 24th and were most dissapointed when you told them it was going to be in the new year ! january busy but also because of Christmas returns feb busy March busy as it was year end spend for local authorities, although 5 years ago it was stupid, our sales targets literally doubled for januaryFebruary/march. as of yet I've not looked into how car retail matches mail order retail.
  11. We go for the cars there, have a look.... Want to go for a test drive .... 90% buy the car. I try and think what I would want if buying a car, so as an example at the minute we are looking at 2 cars, one for the wife one possibly for me. for the wife we are just sitting in the driving seat and shortlisting, then it's a case of pricing them up then test drives. For me I'm toying with the idea of a freelander or a Subaru Forester, again I'll want a test drive, without one I wouldn't buy it. I also want at least 20 minutes behind the wheel
  12. Ours was the tfsi (so much better than the tdi) having said that we have a White tdi coupe in stock and while its having a few more calls its still not sold. TT's certainly the coupe diesels usually sell well in white. I don't think it's the engine putting people off, I collected an A5 on Sunday, 2.0tfsi Quattro auto and it sold on Monday and we have 2 others that would have wanted it.
  13. I collected a Cayman yesterday and the owner said you will need to fill it up, it had just under a quarter of a tank, enough to get me to the moon. Watch z4's though, they are quite accurate, it said it was empty and spluttered to a stop just as we rolled it into the lock up.
  14. The ability to drive a car on petrol fumes.
  15. Ah excel spreadsheets we use them and google drive
  16. We had the same thing with the tt roadster we had in stock, very little interest, 3 people viewed it and it was the third person who actually purchased it. We dropped the price by 1k and it took just over 30 days to sell. It was odd in that it had just had new discs and pads all round, new cam belt and water pump fitted at Audi, full Audi history and 2 new continental tyres .... It drove really well too.
  17. We have registered, just waiting for eBay approval, then we will list them and see what happens next.
  18. Interesting, might have to message you Jim.
  19. simple question, is it worth using eBay motors for advertising cars ? I know it lists a 2 month free trial but is it exactly that, is it totally free ?
  20. Our TT finally went this weekend, we had 3 viewings in total, 1 didn't even drive it because they didn't like the colour. It actually drove really well, full Audi history with Audi cambelt and waterpump, 4 new conti's new pagid discs and pads all round in the last 500 miles .... It was a really nice car.
  21. The e30/36 will always be collectable, not sure on the e46, the e46 csl - I think the prices speak for themselves.
  22. I would guess that if your buying something as salvage then your not buying it to do a specific job as in use it as a car. If I buy a a car from a dealer it must be fit for purpose and work as a manufacture intended. By selling a car that is damaged you are admitting that you are buying it knowing it won't get you from a-b. I would guess the sales of goods act would cover you for misrepresentation but for fit for purpose I think not.
