  1. In one respect it was kind of a pointless excersise in that it was only checking its identity and not the quality of the repair work, but you could argue that with the numbers being so low that may be it was working and cutting out the ringed cars. How £41 is going to save families money I don't know. If they cannot find £41 for a test then what on earth makes people think it was repaired to a suitable standard.
  2. As above, the gearbox issue is stated in the add so they shouldn't have any recourse, the headgasket you would probably need to cover. I didn't think a trader could sell something without a warranty. The easy way out would be to buy the car back at the auction price and put it through a car auction and hope for the best.
  3. I think my petrol 9-5 estate is about to die, it's the old 4 speed auto and I've really liked it. Possibly being replaced by a Honda Jazz. Parts are really easy to get hold of for the Saab to.
  4. I find that with eBay though, cars sold as spares or repair fetch silly money but those in good clean condition with history and mot nobody wants.
  5. Cheers James, we can certainly do that as we have the old v5 with the cherished plate on it. Looks like I'm off to the post office on Tuesday
  6. Ah but can you tax it at the same time ?
  7. We have an Audi TT which has gone through a plate retention, the plate we picked the car up with has been transferred to one of the TT owners family members and they sent the new v5 off to us with an age related plate. That was 10 days ago, we have since sold the TT and the owner wants it next week. They are local so we can deliver it on trade plates but we will have to remove the old private plate. Given the V5 might be lost in the post can we simply fill out a V62, pay the £25 fee and then either tax or sorn the car in the new owners name ? Luckily they intend to keep the car off the road for a few months put we still want to get it in their name. thanks
  8. ooooh, my mini will be desirable then, I have all 3
  9. Apparently the coupe is more popular because it's a 4 seater ............lol.
  10. I have no idea about our outgoings but think they must be low, we have a lock up to hold 5-8 cars and can hold 4-5 near our sales office. There are two of us full time and 2 part time who are used as and when. We collect the cars (well I do) so we can find any faults on the way home. Because we pick cars that need very little work we are left with the odd dent or bumper re spray. I'll do some of the prep because it's pointless in paying someone to do it if I don't have anything to collect or viewings. No doubt there comes a point where you need more staff in which case it becomes more challenging. So yes I think our overheads are low, salary (low to what I was on) tax, vat, insurance, bit of rent and some prep ...
  11. That's why the likes of record, gold car etc are so cheap. Avis and hertz can be reasonable when you take into account no fuel charges and that they give you time to walk around the vehicle and give you a printed receipt at the end. They do try and sell the insurance but like Jim I have a policy for that which covers more. If you ever go to the Canary Islands try plus car. We use them every time we go to lanzarote, it costs around 100 euros for 9 days, you don't need to leave a security deposit and there is no insurance charges and no excess. Cars are up to 3 years old and anything up to 60k, but the posh stuff is newer.
  12. Yeah sorry about that !!!! We have dropped the price right down now as summer is disappearing ..... The coupes we cannot get enough of, roadsters not so popular.
  13. We have a Suzuka grey tt cabriolet and very little interest in it.
  14. Audi A5 deposit taken, 1 test drive in a golf with someone booking a 1 way ticket to viee the golf tomorrow. Enquiry on the z4 that went yesterday and they didn't want the other we have in stock.
  15. Why don't you ring one of those sellers and ask, just say your interested in aviation and your trying to indent iffy the airfield. From the looks of it there are brand new fords and Vauxhalls kept there too.
  16. I haver never had to be involved in the fsa, so for me ... 1/ commission made from finance 2/ any other form of insurance policies, gap, warranty, possibly card payments etc 3/the actual number of transactions for the above, so if 12 warrants were sold then12 would be the answer. 4/people who complained about finance or a product such as a warranty 5/identify highest credit activity, so if you put 10 on finance, 15 on gap the answer would be 15as it's the highest 6/your gross sales of everything
  17. Gold car by any chance ? A lot of the cheap companies do the fuel surcharge trick, I had a brand new fiat 500that I still managed to find a tiny dent in but to be fair Avis were good, they were fine on drop off too. I booked mine through ba, no idea why but return flights to Majorca were £504, adding 9 days group a car hire made it £414 ...... No idea why but it was a nice little car. Someone still managed to put a mark on it, but nothing a felt tip pen wouldn't fix.
  18. Interesting point about the sold, we do the opposite and only mark them as sold when they have gone.
  19. My last job was 35 hours tied to a desk, I probably did closer to 42 without being paid .... I'm now between 40 as my contracted hours but anywhere between 45 and 60, I still don't get paid .... I have less stress doing this although my hours are all over, usually finishing between 7 and 9 but then I get to start between 9 and 12 .... Right now I'm on the sofa with a cuppa, but I'll be outside cracking on with a z4 that wants a quick tidy up for collection tomorrow.
  20. We did it with a c63 and got 2 viewings before it was ready to show, we also advertised a Mitsubishi asx, they booked to view it on the day it arrived and drove off with it the same day, it was with us for around two hours. i'm all for advertising them before they are ready, as a private buyer I can see how it was kept before being cleaned, and with the way the world works now and people prepared to travel then if it's not on the web then it won't sell.
  21. How much do motors charge per month ? Can you use it to create your own website like autotrader ?
  22. These guys too far away ? Not sure how cheap they be though. http://www.kdskeltec.co.uk/price-menu/optional-extras/dent-removal
  23. Do any of you smaller indi's use some form of CRM system to track sales, leads etc. we don't use anything at the minute and while most systems are aimed at larger dealerships is there anything worth considering for us smaller companies ?
  24. Picked it up privately from mid Wales, had it 1 week with 1 test drive. It's like a big tt with a v8 behind you.
  25. Up at 8, wash an evoque, BMW 330d collected at 9, evoque collected at 9.30, the px for the evoque was a Mitsubishi asx, we had a viewing on that at 12 and it was gone by 1, test drive on the r8 at 1 but no go because of the gearbox (the r troic is crap) photograph a couple of pictures and some adverts and off at 3.
