  1. What about the I'll let you know either way brigade?
  2. Sorry GG don't know how it happened but I got you confused with countryman. Will you ever forgive me?
  3. Countryman this is hilarious and very clever, everyone try your own website in it you'll p@@s yourself laughing, countryman congratulations Celebratin twenty five muthaf@@@'n years Motor Trade experience (and seven muthaf@@@'n years at our existin premises), Here's mine http://www.gizoogle.net/tranzizzle.php?search=cellyourcar.com&se=Go+Git+Dis+Shiznit here's car dealers magazine http://www.gizoogle.net/index.php?search=cardealermagazine.co.uk&se=Gizoogle+Dis+Shiznit Better than the beep beep game
  4. GG you've been reading my mind, get in touch I've got something to show you that I think you'll like.
  5. How was your first day out of the job? Did you miss it at all or was it like a weight lifted off your shoulders? These cars are on a busy main road on the Wirral who have a policy of no roadside sellers on a trade policy, all advertised as private sales, 5 cars off 2 mobile numbers and a forecourt only 400 yards down the road.
  6. Listening to Umesh on the car dealer podcast the other day and hearing that he fell into car sales after being a qualified mechanic it left me with a question. How many of us left school wanting to sell cars? Like Umesh I had no plans to sell cars when I left school. After a short lived career in the navy I was at a loose end when I got talking to a smart looking man wearing a flash suit and a Mecedes key ring placed next to him on the bar, he told me that he was a car salesman, said he loved the job even though the hours where long, rubbish basic of £50 per week but if you where good at it you could make a lot of money and get to drive a nice car for free. 2 days later I was selling Lada's. Be interested to hear how many of us fell into the trade, how many planned to come in it and did anyone have a worse first company car than me?
  7. Whoopee just sold one, first for 10 days lets hope things are on the up!
  8. wonder if it'll go through complete with a video and aa inspection then I may be tempted
  9. Really sorry to hear you're news must be a very sad day for you. Good luck with your new venture when one door closes another one opens. The way the jobs going you never know it may be a blessing in disguise.
  10. I thought you'd chartered a private jet to escape on your Joll's GG?
  11. I agree values are high, we can all think of excuses, we know it will come back it's just a constantly changing marketplace which we have to adapt too. I do sell cars as well but face the same problems as you trying to get the right stock at the right price and to me that's the key. Customers will buy anything if the price is right.
  12. Is there any reasons that we all have in common so that we can try and see a solution to the problems? I put van sales being quiet for me due to a combination of the following factors. 1 Location North West of England only 1 job being created for every 6 in the south. 2 Booming Building Trade causing tradesmen who've struggled for years to make ends meet getting a full time job cards in with a big company for £700 + per week complete with a company van, which is bought by the company on a 3 year lease. So these customers who would normally buy my type of stock (sub 5k) are selling their vans to the cash for vans market and buying cars instead. These people have been self employed returning to full time employment and are not included in the job created figures. 3 Stock Prices I rely heavily on auctions for my stock due to being a 1 man band. Like the rest of you I've watched the prices continually rise over the past few years and as a result so have my prices, unless I work for a smaller margin or try and make a living on selling fresh air. 4 It's August and everybody's enjoying their joll's having a lovely time getting stuck in operation stack (apart from GG who had the foresight to charter a private jet) and us. Those who are doing OK do you rely on auctions or do you source elsewhere? Where are you located? Are you working for a smaller margin just to keep things moving?
  13. Thanks daylight good luck will be needed with what I'm trying to do. I don't have the deep pockets of the big boys but I do have big ca hones to attempt it. I'll let you all in on it just as soon as the intense testing that's happening at the moment is finished and I know the website will run perfectly. Still waiting for final confirmation from the legal people about the domain name wbac but do have several others to use one of them is "swop your car for cash" but her indoors thinks that's too cheesy. Value your thoughts on this name please gents as my last website, the one that introduced a lot of the big players to the cash for cars market, was a great concept but not such a good name cellyourcar.com. Don't want to make the same mistake again.
  14. many years ago when I was into banger racing we used to wreck mk1 cortinas, granada'a, capri's and escorts on a weekly basis, feel gutted now.
  15. I scrapped 2 ford puma's last year and struggled to find a scrapyard to take them so just weighed them in. Maybe the wrong thing to do
  16. I've got a little combo that I've had since last February (2014) now but similar ones are still doing the same money under the hammer today so what's the point of mugging it away only to buy another one that needs prepping.
  17. I only use ebay but even that's quiet at the moment, have tried most other things but not with any great success
  18. Van sales is not good at the moment and everyone of my colleagues that I speak to in the north west is saying the same, yes it is august so we know it's the quiet period what we mustn't do though is let our heads go down and get pro active with every lead, get the place looking pretty and maybe try the one week only offer trick. It will come back
  19. I used to have 3 big jars of sweets on my desk, old favorites for the adults and new one's for the kids, when it was time to close the deal I'd invite the customers into the office for a sweet then get the adults to sit down and close the deal. The kids always remembered the nice car salesman who had the sweets and it broke the ice with the adults. Not really a gift umesh but it worked.
  20. If they are not Retailing their own cars then they must be hoping to make money from selling finance, therefore will it not affect our ability to earn finance commission from our sales? Someone else trying to erode our ever decreasing margins give something for nothing in one hand to take away with the other.
  21. same as any old insurance, you get shafted with the premium, then get made to feel like a criminal if you make a claim. Travelers is just the insurance company's name not the type of policy but the mid feature is very simple to use.
  22. Fingers crossed and remember never judge a book by it's cover, Explore all avenues to get the sale and it aint over till the fat Lady sings or the monies in your bank.
  23. I put everything on the MId just to be safe as a lot of the boys in blue don't know the rules, I even got stopped on trade plates and the dibble didn't know what they where and tried to seize the van, I use travelers insurance it's so easy to put on the mid it's untrue, nice TT.
  24. and they come off within the 5 day rule.
