  1. A lot of valid points there And I agree though a lot of the guys I've worked for over the years now have managers running the business whilst they get rewards from it holidays to Spain etc 6 times a year or still have there car sales but went in a different direction and set up other companies doing different stuff like renting houses out etc don't get me wrong they do deserve it having being fully hands on for years . Still hands on but being rewarded for there hard work how Another thing to bear in mind is some people will now be saving for Christmas at this time of year and making there old car do them with those on monthly pay only got 3 or 4 wages left . I've seen a mad rush in late January earlier February before
  2. I agree Mark as long as your ticking over .. I guess It's like I said in an earlier post grant it swings and roundabounds some will be quiet and some will be busy like yourself Always good to hear the people n here doing well all the best hope it continues .. There's an mot station like that here problem is there is only one mot tester and mechanic really it has the capacity for two he's one of the better mechanics I know the old guy that owns it had a few strokes and other health problems nice old fellow the garage is attached to a petrol station shop I've never understood why in his mid 70s he doesn't slow down a bit lease out the workshop mot station and keep the petrol station shop for a bit of income .for him and his wife
  3. I don't think it just the motortrade either . Ticking away but not run out out the door . From what you hear down the pub or around town . I know a joiner drinks in or local on a Friday a good one got all his work word of mouth no facebook internet website or anything for over 10 years was booked for months in advance a fortnight ago was the first time he had to advertise his business in the paper looking for work .
  4. It's all in the link Mark101 put up looks like the full package is about £420 a year ..
  5. It's good practice I do it own my cars by a local garage put 12 months on everything My friends who owns two dealerships and mot station a few hours away from me which is why I use the local one does this I bought a Land Rover with 11 months test by a garage local to the previous owner for him one day he couldn't make the auction and put a full 12 months on it regardless as part of his pdi
  6. Or put 6 airfreshners in it old guy I knew bought a car from a main dealer when the smell of them wore off it stank of dog he ended up selling it cause his family hated it

  8. Have a look at autoshine Blackpool on YouTube he has a video on there about car with odour he recommends that autobrite enzyme cleaner worth a try for a tenner that's the one he uses in the video but he says the auto smart one is good also
  9. I normally stick a sticker on and the polly pocket and write the reg on with a sharpie eyes are not what they used to be lol I'll have a look at that myself Mark thanks
  10. As Ja says just a Microsoft spread sheet and get some ring binders and poly pockets and get a pocket for each cars mot certificate v5 etc and just write the reg on it with a sticker or one of those label printers ,
  11. You can get the fog machine from ebay and liquid with different scents for about £62 would be useful for other cars my local car wash uses them it it makes the car smell lovely 123598207206 is the item number and you get a bottle of scent with it would be useful for other cars I've used the air con bombs which I thought were ok for the money £9.49 the item number is 142847355524 worth a try Also a lot of Valeters use and recommend enzyme cleaner cause it creates its own good bacterias because they say shampoo makes it worst creating moisture apparently the good bacteria eats the bad is the science off spray it in and dry it off with wet vac or towel It's about a tenner of ebay item number 230706307739 hope this helps good luck .

  13. I dropped 2 twenty's in a petrol station forecourt one day was going to tax a car and the £40 still haunts me dropped a fiver on day at the mot station too. i put lotto hot picks on for years didn't put on over the years and they came up lost about 3k or just under but you don't miss what you never had ..
  14. I think we all have or ups and downs As some say there having record months others say there quiet some say neither busy or quiet I guess its swings and rounds about . Some one may want a car you have and you could sell it ten times over and others at an another time may have cars like that At times everyone you speak to is not massively busy with sales other times they can't get the stock for love nor money and everyone is fighting over bca and mainheim grade 3s My advice hang on in there nacman it's tough at the top ... as a good friend and mechanic used to say to me who I worked under at the time he was workshop manager but is sadly no longer with us and had his life cut short by cancer He would say to me every morning it's tough at top kid .. to which my reply was always it's worst at the bottom
  15. Bet you felt let down by the bank and kicked yourself for a while afterwards . We have all been in situations when we do just that .
  16. that's probably where the clio was . you do get some right ones don't you the I used to be a mechanic but now I work in Asda know it all types thanks for the Isle of Man thing I'll know in the future
  17. No I get what your saying some times things just happen like that sell 6 good ones get 2 bad ones as a mate of mine says it is what it is .

  19. Sending you some good luck David hope you get it sorted..
  20. Your right BHM I've seen them use a focus st up here seen a black one kicking about its a nice one to has the nice darker wheels etc well I guess they use undercover as seen it parked in in the two car driveway next to the standard beat car 308 at the local plod station so guess was an undercover car.
  21. No doubt it will do silly money but as others have said if we cant work it out it will put the customers off as blemheim says they will be thinking anyone can stamp a book . And as matt r says if customer cant find the mot history they will think there is something strange going on For future reference but not in this particular car as it has main dealer stamps though bear in mind we i have all heard stories about stamps being bought on ebay etc but if a car has any sort off stamp in the book it will be marked as history even if the book only has serviced by joe bloggs with no address or phone number service carried out by genuine parts a car badge etc at some auctions more so the independents they mark it as history but we have no way to verify this .. I know a some of auctions list or used to list the actually services and dealer name but others don't and others have stopped with new data protection laws . Just something that might help some one out that was all I bought one it just said on its last stamp serviced by George second name mechanic .on the auction catalogue it just said 8 stamps 2 main dealer I never actually thought to check the online description as was just something that happened to be at a sale i was attending it was a cheapish older crv so didn't really matter or have much affect as was a £2995 car for the dealer I appraised for a the time but would have hated it to happen on a range rover sport or something .
  22. That's another possibility I guess .
