  1. Hell yeah......................... " Fuck right off and fit your own Chinese EBay shite, I'm running a Business not a Charity, and I guarantee my Parts and Labour !! " /\ /\ /\ That is exactly how we ended up with the 2017 E Class, I only went into MB Parts Dept, came out, Mel's sat in it !! Luckily I know them well and got a good deal a it was a Demo Car
  2. I've had that on a Skoda, Snap On wouldn't allow Forced ReGen said it was too full, but VAG Com did it My old Mechanic in England had a Renault the same, he took DPF off, blocked one end, filled it with Traffic Film Remover, left it over night then steamed it out with steam cleaner jet next day, refitted it, now showing low reading, allowed him to force a Re Gen .................... Go Figure ................... Like you, neither me nor he had the Enine Running when it was saying it was too full
  3. "I don't need / want to pay to have it diagnosed, 'xxxxxx' has already done that and we know what's wrong with it" "Well fuck off and fix it yourself then"
  4. The ECU's are no longer that stupid, the ECU knows fine well if it hasn't actually had a new DPF, because it is monitoring Differentials of Exhaust Pressures and EGT's It may be that the update has negated the need to have a lower figure in order to do a Forced Regen
  5. /\ /\ /\ Agreed see it a lot BTW, you probably know this, but some vehicles will refuse to re gen, (either by themselves or forced), if there is less than 1/4 tank of Fuel in them, as well as if there are problems with EGR, Air Flow etc etc.
  6. Yours is an exceptional case, and yes, I would now be letting it ride, but I would be using the best possible solicitor for any future communications if the need should arise
  7. Fair Enough, I take it it the Minis don't hold much Oil then, or are you just using the non Mfr Specific Comma 5W/30, which is cheaper. Most of the MB Engines I see hold at least 7 Litres, some of the lumpy Vehicles I do take 11 + litres, I always use the Comma Mfr Specific Oils in customer Cars, like Syner-Z for a lot of MB's and, in fact, in my own Cars I buy the Oil and Filters from MB as I get a decent deal from them on a lot of parts. Customers get offered genuine too, but most of them want to go cheaper with OEM quality Regarding other parts like Suspension Links Ball Joints etc I will not even sell or fit the likes of First Line / Meyle etc ................... Chinese Junk Either OE or OEM or they can go elsewhere. Decent Customers with decent Cars do appreciate this, and the scumbags who want to buy their own bit's off EBay can fuck off. Thankfully we don't get many of them up here, and those few that there are know not to bother coming to me There is a few local kerbside cowboys who can accomodate them for booze money
  8. Asda Oil ?? Chinese Filter ?? At £50 it got bugger all else, hardly a "Service", Oil and Filter Change
  9. /\ /\ /\ These I've said it before, my experience of Small Claims / Civil Proceedings is that the "decent and professional" party always gets shafted and the pond life always get away with it Sad fact is, with 9 / 10 Powershifts I've ever fixed they only need Brushes in the Motor, but most "Gearbox Specialists" don't know that or charge a fortune for "this and that". I used to buy Brushes for a Bosch Wiper Motor and sand the edges slightly, fit Brushes, do a "Re Learn" .............. Jobs a good un !!
  10. They can be re wired and a programmer added, but is probably easier to add a second Eberspacher that blows warm air I looked into it on my V Class, quite a lot of buggering about to rehash the existing one on that vehicle
  11. BTW, regarding DVLA, if you tax a vehicle after normal hours it can take 5 days before it goes on the Database, more over Xmas !! I always print the EMail Receipt and chuck it in the Glovebox, yep, just before Xmas I taxed the SLK I just bought, got tugged by plod a few days later, who was getting quite stroppy until I shoved the EMail under his nose Same applies to pp transfers
  12. LOL, I'd like a quid for every time some bell end has come running up to my V Class on a Cold day and told me it's on fire underneath...................... Yeah, Diesel Eberspacher !!
  13. Got ya re Yani. I'm pretty sure Delphi will do SA Zero, even Snap On does that, the new Autel I got def does on Fix It Again Tony's
  14. I agree with you both, they are not going to allow the likes of us Indies access to these "new" systems. That is why these newest Semi Autonomous like 2017 E Class etc are depreciating as much as they do now. I doubt I'd make a profit on our own one now, and I got a really good deal on that as an ex demo last year. Most of my Customers are already aware of this, and hanging on to their 11 - 12 plate Cars now, spending money on proper Waxoyling etc etc and keeping them right up to scratch. Changing the subject slightly, to tree hugging emissions etc one Customer of mine has already said he will not buy a new Diesel RR because the one he has will probably banned from Inverness in the next few years, Glasgow has now outlawed them, so it won't be too long before Inverness does the same, along with other UK Cities. Tesla Johnny Cab / UBER That's what we got to look forward to in a few years
  15. Well said, and sadly yes, OE Mfrs will row us all out in the end Big Brother and Nanny State Red Tape. I said it a while back, the right to repair will become a thing of the past, and if like me you are in Garage Business you will have to lease the correct machines from the Mfr, and pay their annual Subscriptions. That is why I see this as a 5 to 10 year business, by or before 2030 I will be just playing with a few Track Cars etc, or more likely doing bugger all in a warm sunny climate well away from the UK
  16. LOL, nice one !! Cyclists, don't get me started on Cyclists I had one in Inverness last summer, rode up the N/S of my Car in traffic, I'm in the left lane because I'm turning left, and about 8" from the kerb !! That's when he starts leaning on the Car bashing on the window and yelling that I'm in the wrong lane !! I got out and told him to fuck off and when he pays Road Tax and has Insurance then I might listen to a twat !! He was gonna report me, fuck all ever came of it because he was in the wrong, should have waited behind the Cars at the lights, rather than squeeze up the side of my Car and the 2 Cars behind me
  17. Nice one, and yes I would bet on Torque Sensor And he won't want to pay Gendan Prices for dealer level Fiat , (well I wouldn't), there is a Clone out there, as there is for everything, but like I said Fiat is not high on my list, I think it probably does Fiat, Alfa and maybe Maserati, non of which I ever see on our roads, except in tourist months Oh and BTW, modern Clones will all run 32 bit Windows 7 , if it needs XP forget it, it's dinosaur slow, usually virtual box machine That said I will stand corrected on Delphi, as my old Delphi was XP, but all the stuff I bought last year all runs Win 7 32 bit. Bruce ? Who the fuck is Bruce ? ................... Sings .................. "for 24 years I been livin' next door to Bruce"
  18. Me neither, detest them with a passion.................. Too many wankers who want to grass up those of us who drive enthusiastically !! Let the bloody cops do what they are paid for, why make life easy for them ............... Big Brother PAH !! Also beware of the morons on Cycles with them on their silly helmets, mate of mine got reported by one of them eejits Remember, just because someone who is driving a fart box considers an overtake dangerous, doesn't mean it is if you are in a fast and decent car !! Some fuckin' idiot in a Camper Van reported me to the local plod, he was doing well under 30 on a 60mph A Road which I know like the back of my hand, even the Cops thought it funny and were quite happy to admit that the footage doesn't take all the circumstances into account ................. Like in this instance the speed of the knob jockey being overtaken was not taken into account, yeah there was a van coming the other way, half a bloody mile away, but I also was back on my side of the road long before any point of possible impact !! The Van Driver didn't get excited like the pillock in the Camper who was honking and flashing Camper Man was a total moron !! Thankfully the local Cops know me, know the road, know what some of these tourists are like etc etc, it would have probably resulted in me being well nicked if it was a city cop !!
  19. Agree with the post above, even I haven't bothered getting dealer level for FIAT, almost none on our roads up here Usually a good generic will get you to the bottom of most things on that level of Car. I have 3 Generics, of which the Delphi running on laptop was the cheapest, and is pretty much better than the Snap On Solus Ultra that I paid 30 times the price for lol. I bought the Delphi to do 2 Jobs on a local mates Iveco Truck, which the Snap On wouldn't go near, but it has proved a very useful bit of kit, a little slow even though I have it on a decent Dell D630 with maxed out RAM and 2.4 Ghz so I think that is just the software as all of my dealer level machines are lightning fast compared to the Delphi and all on Dell D630 / D830's. I'm pretty sure there are newer versions than 2014 now, was looking at updating mine a while back, 2017 IIRC I was when I was born Get called all manner of things these days
  20. Hi and welcome, best of luck with it I do all my own work, just a small set up with loads of Dealer Level Kit. Garage is busier than Car sales. I gave up on Welderuppers many years ago now , too many late model decent Cars that can be had for buttons in my locale
  21. That is exactly what I was going to say, word for word, I had an ex demo 2018 Cross Country Estate and I used it for a long journey this year (July 2018), around 2000 miles racked up in a few days of all different roads and traffic scenarios. Apart from the Maps Update and Vibration at 80 mph it was exactly like that, the guy who programmed them was probably the same wanker that programmed the Grand Picasso, that's another pile of shit to drive in the real world As for that braking actually working, it depends, big vehicles and certain colours, like Red Sprinters f.e. it simply does not see them, I am absolutely convinced it would have hit them, when coming up behind them at around 50 - 60 mph, it did not brake full stop, I had to absolutely smash the brake pedal when down to the last 6ft or so, conversely, at slower speeds it will be well back from a small light coloured car at 30 mph rolling traffic and then smash it's own brakes on when there is no need, full on application of pre safe belts, whiplash the works The twat who programmed it is a fucking moron who should have been sacked when Electronic Ignitions first came out !! The Mercedes system actually work flawlessly, it is almost like you are driving it yourself
