  1. Damn it...!!!! thought it seemed too easy, (and perhaps a twattish), suggestion after you'd gone to the trouble of coding in a battery and module flashing... did you try left leg and right leg in and out...? might make a difference...!!
  2. HI Mikey, Have you tried key in, not started, window down, hold for a count of 5, then window up whilst keeping hold of the switch until the window is fully closed.. keep hold for a count of 5...let go... key out..
  3. Hi Tony, You certainly do have two extreme cases to deal with, and getting professional help would be a good option. I haven't seen this mentioned on the forum, but may be worth a look at joining the Car Dealer Magazine club at http://cardealerclub.com/ Good luck..
  4. Mmmn.... never bought one of those before.... How much did a good one cost ?
  5. I read this a little earlier : https://www.am-online.com/news/dealer-news/2018/12/24/unlawful-lancashire-car-dealers-told-repay-thousands-or-be-jailed?utm_campaign=24_12_2018_AM_daily_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=AM%20-%20Newsletter%20-%20Daily&utm_source=adestra&utm_term=Unlawful%20Lancashire%20car%20dealers%20told%20repay%20thousands%20or%20be%20jailed&gutid=29700 Make of it what you will, although the issue of SOR on the invoice seemed to carry no weight.
  6. I'd like to wish everyone here a Happy Christmas and a good and healthy year to come.... Thank you to all who contribute to the forum, I know I get out more than I put in, (it's just sometimes/often I can't stand the sound of my own voice)... PS ....Nick Great Picture.....VU3139 is still taxed and MOT'd... 1931 Alvis Silver Eagle, however I'd be suspicious of it's exact mileage looking at it's MOT history...
  7. Hi Martin,I did this setting up a 12mth DD which was fine for around 10 months then DVLA stopped taking the DD as they hadn't received notification of a new keeper, and unfortunately I didn't notice on our bank statement that the payment hadn't been taken. The car then became untaxed and one night/early morning whilst parked outside the house on the road it got clamped. We had to pay the un-clamp fee, but fortunately no fine. I did ask DVLA why they didn't just email us as they had an email address from the time we set the DD up but they responded by saying the responsibility is with the new owner to inform the DVLA "forthwith" (however long that is). I can understand their point of view as they need to know where to send any fines or follow up any infringements that the vehicle is involved in.Just make sure you keep an eye on your DD..
  8. The Auctioneer's round here hate a dawdler...especially when reserve has been met that hammer is going down. There are a few bidders (always the same ones) who I've often seen complaining to the auctioneer after the hammers gone down and they've lost .... they get public short shrift from the rostrum. I guess after what Grant has said, that's the auctioneer showing who's boss and trying to maintain his rhythm. Bidders who come in late just after I think I've nicked one and I end up spending another £2-300 before they drop out really do p155 me off. More often than not I'll be in clear view of all if I'm bidding and I try to get in on the bids early and always say "thank you " to the auctioneer after I've won one..or a shake of the head and a walk to the next if I'm out.
  9. I may be wrong here and not fully understood the concept, but all I see is he's trying to do is muscle in on Autotrader's platform dominance with a new platform and a headline grabber..?. The supplier/ Dealer will still have all the responsibility of product, price, prep, warranty, delivery CRA etc... Autotrader can head him off at the pass by adding a "Home Delivery" tick box in the search options, and charge the dealer for the pleasure of inclusion.
  10. I keep re-reading this bit ^^....Every time I do.... I laugh loud.. Thanks Grant

  20. Hi Kelly & Ryan, Congratulations on your new business, it does sound the perfect setup and opportunity. You've also done well to find this site too, the experience of the old, and new trade members here are a source of great knowledge, passion and drive, I'm sure that you'll find help if/whenever you need. Don't let Ryan stay too quiet though, his experience in vehicle detailing will be invaluable for many, me included. Good luck for now and the future. Good job with the Meriva as well...
  21. Sounds good value to me too...Although the wise words regarding insurance an security would be my first considerations... Then I'd be thinking about the space I wasn't using and seeing if I could get some money from any other traders in a similar position... or getting a little cabin on it with a little generator !!
  22. There you go : https://www.fleetauctiongroup.com/
  23. If that was in the late 80s, I'll bet that was Vernon Ford. The story has it that he wanted a Ford Granada and got a Car dealer friend to take him to auction where he found that the prices were much less than he expected so he bought three, one for himself and two to sell from his barn.He then developed his business model on buying nearly new anything and selling it cheap from the farm, as is, no valet, no servicing, you want that doing, get it done yourself. He then took on an old Leyland truck site and absolutely rammed it with cheap nearly new and sold hundreds a month.Customers were queuing out of the sales office on a weekend waiting to buy. Traders paid to stand at the back of the pitch to value and buy part exchanges !! Out of that grew Fords of Windsford and I believe AvailableCar has a family connection. Hats off to the man, he saw an opportunity and took it.

Rory is spot on with this and I'm sure this scenario came up in a Lawgistics info update not too long ago... They suggested that the CRA responsibilities belong to the finance company, not you. The finance company is not recognised by the act as a "consumer". If they feel the need to unwind a deal, with or without your agreement, then that's up to them. Your agreement, by way of terms and conditions of supply, is what the finance company will then rely on. Whether you decide that the car was faulty or not at point of sale, if you agree to take it back, the mileage deduction conversation will be with the finance company not the end user. Likely you won't get many deals passed by them in future if you don't play their way though !!!
