  1. I think they're running a free trial where they credit your account with £10 for you to have a go A basic check is £2.50 and then a few add on's at 40/50p like taxi check or autotrader retail check, glass's, build data etc. The Taxi check came in useful to us recently where we had bought a vehicle for a customer from auction which had not been declared a taxi. I had only used the A/T history check and it was clear. When the car arrived it had some issues and something felt not quite right. I did a Motorcheck report that showed it had been registered as a taxi with a council, and we were then able to knock it back to the Auction for a full refund. We use Motorcheck on 'pay as you go' where you credit your account periodically with £50, and there's no contract tie in. As Grant said, they are a really good bunch, often to be found on the car sales dealer group facebook page.
  2. Damn ..!! Sorry Dave, I thought there was a manual ignition key barrel for emergencies..good luck I'll shut up now....
  3. If it's push button start Dave, you've hopefully got the tear drop shape key, that on the narrow end has two squeeze tabs.Squeeze the tabs and lift the ford logo centre piece. With a bit of luck, the key blade will be there for manual operation.
  4. Never been asked, 'No'' would be the response ,because I'd be suspicious of their motive. As SC says, happy to honour my obligations, and at times more.
  5. I suspect that like many, I would not rely totally on the accuracy of information provided by Citizens Advice. Like some others on here, I don't think you need to do any more with this, other than tell him that your liability ended the minute you dropped it off on his drive. He might accept that, he might not. CRA 2015 cites" Traders" (not businesses) and" Consumers" in contracts. Your trade is not cars, so therefore you are not a car "trader", and as I read it, CRA would not apply to your transaction. I've copied and pasted a section of the regulations definitions from the legislation.gov.uk site, which would suggest that, even though you have a business, you do not have responsibilities covered by CRA in this instance. Sales contracts (1)A contract is a sales contract if under it— (a)the trader transfers or agrees to transfer ownership of goods to the consumer, and (b)the consumer pays or agrees to pay the price. (2)A contract is a sales contract (whether or not it would be one under subsection (1)) if under the contract— (a)goods are to be manufactured or produced and the trader agrees to supply them to the consumer, (b)on being supplied, the goods will be owned by the consumer, and (c)the consumer pays or agrees to pay the price. Key definitions (1)These definitions apply in this Part (as well as the definitions in section 59). (2)“Trader” means a person acting for purposes relating to that person’s trade, business, craft or profession, whether acting personally or through another person acting in the trader’s name or on the trader’s behalf. (3)“Consumer” means an individual acting for purposes that are wholly or mainly outside that individual’s trade, business, craft or profession. (4)A trader claiming that an individual was not acting for purposes wholly or mainly outside the individual’s trade, business, craft or profession must prove it. (5)For the purposes of Chapter 2, except to the extent mentioned in subsection (6), a person is not a consumer in relation to a sales contract if— (a)the goods are second hand goods sold at public auction, and (b)individuals have the opportunity of attending the sale in person. (6)A person is a consumer in relation to such a contract for the purposes of— (a)sections 11(4) and (5), 12, 28 and 29, and (b)the other provisions of Chapter 2 as they apply in relation to those sections. (7)“Business” includes the activities of any government department or local or public authority. (8)“Goods” means any tangible moveable items, but that includes water, gas and electricity if and only if they are put up for supply in a limited volume or set quantity. (9)“Digital content” means data which are produced and supplied in digital form. Now whether a Magistrate, Judge, others on here, or the bloke you sold it to would see it like this, I don't know...!! Good luck in getting it resolved.
  6. Nik, I'm using windows..there's no marker on the Mini or £17k E class for me..and no sign of an Audi that's £14500 HTH
  7. Don't know what shape your A3 unt is, but I whacked one of these in our dog car Touran. It doesn't have DAB,and I don't know how it works with Bose, however I can say that the bluetooth and andriod apps work really well if you can be patient with the set up. The unit was sized right and easily fit the existing facia surround. When we use the dog car on longer journeys, the kid likes that she can tether it up to her phone's data and watch youtube video's, play spotify, and radio from the tunein app.. it plays cd/ dvd's too. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07G9DZFTB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If the link doesn't work it's because I'm a tech dunce...you might have to just type it.!! I'm also guessing that the Chinese secret service know my every move..
  8. Andy, the last one I got new from Desiraparts.com for £153 delivered brand new..it was in a clearance section hence the low price, they might be worth a look. The new one worked straight away, however hitting the talk button was met with a load of Italian babble, now that was a right job to sort out !! I'd found them just by google searching the part number only..... alfaworkshop.co.uk have some models too.
  9. Early this year we had a White Qashqai that was popular, and a good number of phone calls came in. First to get to us to see it loved it, and asked for a p/x price for their 55 plate X3. The X3 looked tidy enough, up on miles, and a quick drive showed that it pulled well, and apart from the handbrake warning light on,poor tyres, and associated road noise, nothing too bad. The owner advised that the handbrake light, stays on intermittently, most likely the switch he said. Sure enough, we had the handbrake on and off a few times whilst we were parked, and every time it went off. We made a fair offer, and deal done. Handover came, and we then took the X3 to the workshop we use for inspection. The report came back with dual mass slight knocking, and all tyres need replacing plus attention to the handbrake light. Apparently the handbrake light goes off, but then comes on again after moving forward. We thought it'd make a good car, so approved the work...Dual mass done, tyres done, handbrake light is not so easy. There are no other lights on the dash, however a full scan showed that the car had 4x4 faults...after a lot of head scratching we took the speedo cluster out and took it apart to find that the light tunnels for the 4x4, abs, and traction control warning lights, had been filled with black silicon sealant!!! I'm sure if we asked them, they'd have no idea how it happened, it wasn't them, it's always been like that... It's had hours spent on it, the transfer case motor has been changed but we can't get it to calibrate...all the light are still on,it's out of MOT and it's now dumped round the back where I can't see it... We are now better at looking that the lights on the dash come on before we start any potential p/x.
  10. You may just find that chocolates, wine or flowers may provide a more desirable response..!
  11. Hi TG, don't go overthinking this, you may find that you have moved closer to your intended target market.. You were an hour and a half away from many that soon you will only be half an hour from.. Good luck with the changes you are making, I'm sure they will do you well. "Build it and they will come"
  12. Thank's CDM people for fixing this.... Man it all off a sudden got a bit too lonely.. I know I tend to sit in the corner just listening but when I found I was all alone I got a little bit twitchy..!! I've certainly not said it, others may have, but I'd like take this opportunity to thank the CDM Massive for providing these forums.... Ta
  13. Sorry it didn't work out for you HB. We've had it done twice now, once by Toyota who didn't change the clutch, and second by myself. The Toyota mechanic gave us a print of a Toyota TB which is exactly the same procedure as the link I posted from page 3 onwards. I'll admit that using a bit of wire to jumper port connections looks more than a bit heath robinson but it did work for us and the judder disappeared.
  14. Rough idle will need sorting first, then perhaps try page 3 onwards of the following: http://www.partinfo.co.uk/files/INF12215_GB.pdf Read and action carefully.. Good luck
  15. Today we phoned to cancel the AT check because of this mileage indicator nonsense and were told that the mileage info will still be in portal but not in adverts. From what I understand the experian mileage data base consisted of things like V5 information from owners often with rounded up or down numbers, insurance quote enquiries, auction entry information, et al. It's no wonder that with so many lazy inputters, that the information received out is incorrect.. We decided to stay with AT check and keep a good eye on how this goes.
  16. She wants to reject the car because the bonnet release doesn't work..!!!??? Sounds strange, are you sure there's nothing more to this ? As a car owner, she should be checking levels weekly, waiting 29 days to check under the bonnet, to then find the release doesn't work sound fishy. My stance would be that a faulty bonnet release does not constitute a significant fault that renders the vehicle unfit for use and that there are no reasons at all to accept a rejection, or offer a refund. An offer to inspect and repair as necessary would be my way to go, just as Rory says. SC is right on the money... In your small community she is clearly not as concerned about her reputation as much as you are yours, hope she see's sense, and between you, you get it sorted.. Is it a VW ? Good Luck...
  17. Nick/James, Do you give the accountant a box with a load of paper in for that, or do you give them a spreadsheet, that you have prepared and a few bank statements. We have a management system that costs £500/yr to produce everything including doing our own VAT returns and is MTD ready. Our accountant has us on a cute £160/mth to produce our annual accounts, and £50 for doing my personals. They're good, but I now can't help but feel he's got me on a hook.
  18. Hi Nik, It wasn't you who crashed into the kids ski school on a green and took out the instructor too was it? If you were flying back to Stanstead from Plovdiv we must have been on the same flight... Absolutely great place for a long weekend, I can see why you go back often
  19. Pin your bank statement to the window....That'll put their mind at ease. 10 already is great going... well done... (damnit!!)
  20. I don't think the location is bad... if you keep the background view as the one in your side on pictures... As long as the little lane is wide enough I suppose ... Don't forget the confusing bit about the MOT.. Whilst its been in our care, it's had its MOT done, an interim service and a new battery clutch fitted! It also benefits from having Full Service History with 7 stamps in the book, Meaning you can drive away, happily knowing it's been well looked after., 3 months warranty, Next MOT due 27/11/2018,
  21. Hi Mikey, I looked at the Mini... I'll say right away that I'm seriously impressed... The video and commentary is fantastic and will be way better than any other advert for a similar product that your potential customer will be looking at. Advice in an AT best practice video would suggest that when you take your pictures, try moving the car around so that the back drop is the same rather than moving around the car with the camera... I know and appreciate it will take longer but you will be able to choose a better background like the view from the N/S of the Mini, and not have to show some pylons, substation and clumsy old gate. In the Mini write up it does say MOT due Nov 2018 so you might want to change that... Well done for asking on here, you've had some great responses and super help... Sincerely hope the job picks up for you soon,
  22. HI Nik, I'm off to Pamporovo on the 8th for a long weekend with a couple of friends, one of whom bought an apartment years ago when they were quite cheap. They will ski, I will not... I can zig but not zag.!!! Without skiing I'm still really looking forward to going..
  23. Hi DB, Have you had a look on fiverr.com...?
  24. No way offended.... I laughed ...wished I'd been in the pub with you.... hope you make it til closing time..!
