  1. I avoid Vauxhall and Alfa but that's about it. The key is to have enough margin to allow for rework - all the cars we sell are used, they will break unless you're lucky. Keep plenty in the deal (or just wait it out for the right punter) and be prepared to use some of your bigger margin to fix the things.
  2. My only advice - keep everything in writing, no phone calls or texts.
  3. I agree with everything you've stated, except - it has to be be salted popcorn
  4. My unit has LED lighting and if anything it enhances the cars - they always look clean and with the cold white light bouncing off them they look stunning. I do have a really high roof though.
  5. There was a BMW 5 going through Wolves BCA a couple months back, repeatedly week after week, with mileage blocker found declared. I prefer Ferris Beuller's approach with axle stands and reverse gear selected
  6. I think you’ve got a nice spread of stock and clearly you recognise the crossover market is where it’s at - I agree for what it is worth. Nice site, plenty of bells and whistles but very easy to navigate.
  7. What’s your website TV - I recall seeing you CG mock up of the site, now I’d like to see real deal.
  8. Regardless how much money I end up with (even a Euro millions jackpot), I would still only get a boat which is manageable by the wife and me (the best and biggest manageable). The thought of having a crew does not inspire me whatsoever. I enjoy sailing, it’s not a status thing for me - having someone (a team) do the sailing for me makes no sense.
  9. I bet most of those are stink boats though TV - there’s a difference.
  10. Sounds like I'm taking the piss but I am not. Explan it is a characteristic of that engine, as documented by Audi themselves. Offer him a gallon of 0w30 or 15w30 (whatever they reccomend) as goodwill and then tell him he can buy more directly from you at probably 50% of what he is paying retail - you'll still make some money too. Downside being that he will be in regular contact with you and mentioning every future fault I suppose.
  11. Your Dad was a clever man. My boat cost be about £10k a year to own (not including paying for it). Marina fees, annual maintenance, anti-fouling, repairs, fuel etc etc etc. I now charter a bare boat (wife, me and our dog - see avatar) and it costs us about £3k for a week including all moorings, food, drink, fuel, hire etc. We do it once a year as our main holiday and I don't worry about the boat/bills in between.
  12. I disagree with this - I hope everyone that has interpreted the CRA as you have are correct because that would be awesome. Every car I sell is either 100% right at POS or noted on the PDI (things like aircon, radio etc) as not working. If you're correct, I would not be liable for anything - that just simply cannot be the case can it and even if it is the case, I would still be looking to fix genuine faults, whatever they may be, for 3 months, 3,000 miles. My only exclusion is tyres.
  13. 18. Warranty or not, this is your obligation. and 16. (In a nutshell and not wishing to open that can of worms). You are ultimately liable to fix faults for 6 months under CRA, so they're not stipulating anything that you don't or shouldn't already be doing. The only hope is that this "insurance" will go somewhere near to paying towards and failure post sale.
  14. That and. Two happiest times for a boat owner, the day they buy it and the day they sell it
  15. Could be several reasons: 1) Reserve met - await a cheque 2) Didn't get any bids - re-enter or collect 3) They haven't got around to calling you yet to discuss the provisional bid (albeit this is unlikely because they want the cars gone asap). Give it until Monday lunchtime and then ring. Option 1 or 2 most likely.
  16. I used to do 6 races per week in my prime including National championships and also teach sailing if they want some help on their new yacht. Bloody expensive hobby but I have seen the light and sold my yacht, I now bare boat charter (rent) as I was told many years ago: If you want a boat, stand at the end of the jetty and chuck £50 notes in the water, one after an other. Or better still; If it flies, floats or fucks........rent it!
  17. I don't get the whole VW thing, whether that be the original camper, the wedge or the latest T whatevers. If I am paying £40k + for somewhere to sleep, it needs to have full standing headroom (I don't sleep standing up mind), a kitchen and most importantly, somewhere I can shit without walking across a field with a load of wannabe hippies born too late to really recall the 60's. Plus, many of them are complete bores. My mate has one of the most expensive and rare vans (about £70-80k) and it is valuable becuase it has a certain number of windows - think it is a Samba or something from Calafornia and about a thousand years old - does nothing for me. He also has a new A Class (German) quality motor home, that's more to my liking but he reckons his classic is worth more - not to me it isn't. He also has the Jags, Porkers, Rangies etc but it's the camper he (bores) me about. Having said all that, I admire the work MrC does, it looks top quality and I can see why he does well. Me, I'm into boats in a big way - you know the ones with a stick and rags hanging off them - I could bore you for hours on that subject.
  18. That’s my plan - less stock but high value, like 2 to 4 £50-100k motors to create some sort of income post (semi) retirement.
  19. She could probably do much better than most BCA drivers
  20. Thanks Mikey but what magic did you use to do that?
