Easiest way to polish some profit into a car. Simple, quick and 99% of the time successful. Like new number plates, £12 a set with my co. name and they make a car shine.

I try and get any obvious cosmetic and mechanical (certainly safety related) issues sorted immediately. I am debating the MOT thing as I did an MX-5 ready for sale, sat around for a month so agreed a new MOT at the asking price (thought only £30) - guess what, broken spring - it does happen (or more likely missed during prior MOT). To be fair, if someone will not wait two days for a car, do I really want them as customers? Wonder how impatient they would be during a warranty claim. Only becomes an issue when selling to someone far away (remember my Punto seat thread?) Guy travelling 160 miles each way, twice as it needed an MOT - still bought it though.

What car Nick? I have had this of course. Merc to Main Dealer, £25 and 5 mins with car and I have a new appropriate key.

My only advice is to only post this in the private room - your Plaintiff could easily stumble across this via a Google search. Good luck.

Recommended battery charger for under £100

It was "ok" no more no less. Good fun but went on far too long. Arrived at 6.40pm (20 mins early), aimless talking for an hour or more, no one knew what they were doing, no teams had been established and the real racing didn't start until gone 9pm and lasted 90 mins, plus prize giving plus a 2 hour drive home and despite the promise - no food only soft drinks. Better organisation and it would have been a lot lot better but like I say good fun but knackering. Surprisingly, no formal introduction or chat from anyone from CDM or Close. I sopke to James from CDM and my rep from Close. Didn't know anyone there. Home about 1am (caught up on forum events to wind down) and still in work for 8.30 Cheers tradex Just a thought, works well on scooter and mower but the batteries are tiny little bike batteries. -

Is this different would you say to my two Oxford charger/maintainers - one permanently on the Vespa the other a mower? -

Used to have the Chevy small block in a couple of my boats, both in 5.0 and 5.7 litre before moving to the 7.4 big block. Trim the prop out of the water and listen to the howl

Hoover and brush what you can - failing that dye the carpet or spray with matt black. Not my problem now I have a new team of Valeters. 3 on site today from 7.30 until 5.30 - grafters too. Booked for every Tuesday.

Reminds me of good times. Used to run my XKR as a daily (my office was 250 miles away in Newcastle), record week of fuel was £800. I didn’t keep it long for obvious reasons but I still regret selling it to this day. I also bought an E280 diesel estate to run around and save the 5.0 V8 for high days and holidays. Trouble was, when walking out the front door and seeing the two cars parked side by side, the Merc seldom moved.

There is no way to avoid paying VAT margin. It’s a sting in the tail for sure. For example, I took a £500 hit on a CRV because it was a money pit, as it was sold above acquisition cost (hammer and fees), I still had to pay some VAT margin. Equally, recently had it off with £2.5k gross on a £7k car - looks lovely until you deduct the VAT margin due.

Free banking for 2 years

I would be saying - had the customer contacted me and made me aware of the issue, I would have provided a free loan car whilst we remedied the vehicle to a satisfactory condition. As I wasn't contacted by the customer, I don't see how I can be held accountable for consequential costs, especially when I could have offered a solution to keep her mobile.

Just applied for £10k Santander - waiting for response (3 days). They charge an annual fee of 1% of the total requested and no payments unless used other than that 1% (if I have understood correctly).
-
Worse still - Santander will not even accept cash or cheques over the counter. Cheques via cash point, Cash has to be PO - unbelievable. I don't have an overdraft but may request one, just for the excuses.
-
Thanks for that SC - I'm with Santander and I think Motor Trade ranks somewhere slightly below drug dealers. As for PO - My local says £1k max but they take me "out back" and have no daily limit (because they know me). Have done several thousands numerous times, instant clearing but I still prefer a bank transfer.

Keen to try a "finance only" strategy for a month. Thoughts?
