  1. Is this different would you say to my two Oxford charger/maintainers - one permanently on the Vespa the other a mower?
  2. I don't think we are there yet but in theory, yes. I would like to have a form which caputred all the data and at the press a button to reserve a car for £200 for example, automatically marking the car as reserved.

    Used to have the Chevy small block in a couple of my boats, both in 5.0 and 5.7 litre before moving to the 7.4 big block. Trim the prop out of the water and listen to the howl
  5. Hoover and brush what you can - failing that dye the carpet or spray with matt black. Not my problem now I have a new team of Valeters. 3 on site today from 7.30 until 5.30 - grafters too. Booked for every Tuesday.

    Reminds me of good times. Used to run my XKR as a daily (my office was 250 miles away in Newcastle), record week of fuel was £800. I didn’t keep it long for obvious reasons but I still regret selling it to this day. I also bought an E280 diesel estate to run around and save the 5.0 V8 for high days and holidays. Trouble was, when walking out the front door and seeing the two cars parked side by side, the Merc seldom moved.
  7. There is no way to avoid paying VAT margin. It’s a sting in the tail for sure. For example, I took a £500 hit on a CRV because it was a money pit, as it was sold above acquisition cost (hammer and fees), I still had to pay some VAT margin. Equally, recently had it off with £2.5k gross on a £7k car - looks lovely until you deduct the VAT margin due.
  8. We all know situations similar to this Contracts but I know many whom collectively have sold thousands without issue. If we listen to the exceptional cases we would never sell another car again for fear of that one case in a thousand. Just MO.
  9. I would be saying - had the customer contacted me and made me aware of the issue, I would have provided a free loan car whilst we remedied the vehicle to a satisfactory condition. As I wasn't contacted by the customer, I don't see how I can be held accountable for consequential costs, especially when I could have offered a solution to keep her mobile.
  10. Just applied for £10k Santander - waiting for response (3 days). They charge an annual fee of 1% of the total requested and no payments unless used other than that 1% (if I have understood correctly).
  11. Worse still - Santander will not even accept cash or cheques over the counter. Cheques via cash point, Cash has to be PO - unbelievable. I don't have an overdraft but may request one, just for the excuses.
  12. Thanks for that SC - I'm with Santander and I think Motor Trade ranks somewhere slightly below drug dealers. As for PO - My local says £1k max but they take me "out back" and have no daily limit (because they know me). Have done several thousands numerous times, instant clearing but I still prefer a bank transfer.
  13. On a couple of stickers, I was consifering chopping them to money back but on finance only - not sure of the legalities? Or maybe even a Finance price and a Cash Price - I know some car supermarkets used to do it but not sure if the world has changed since FCA.
  14. It obviously works for Simon and he has clearly had a gut full of tyre kickers and test pilots. For me (and I guess Simon too), I am always at the unit organising prep, taking cars to workshops, Smart repairer, valeters, doing paperwork, photos etc; So, I don't see an issue being "open" and letting people come and window shop - test drives and weekends are the only exception to that rule where someone has to admit whether they intend to buy or look but even then I don't insist on a deposit just old fashioned handshake. 80% of my sales are appointed, 15% are walk ons unappointed from seeing adverts online, the other 5% of repeat customers whom simply keep an eye on my webpage.

    There’s only a few worried about diesels around my way, not enough to scare me away from them. Worriers more likely to be academics and arts n crafts types. Customers who are not normally my cup of tea.
  16. Risky IMO I would like a set of magnetic plates but I would keep the originals in the same car in case of a pull. Surely a sensible copper would appreciate what you're trying to acheive because displaying TP correctly is a PITA and open to misinterpretation depending on what the rules say at the time.
  17. One question though as my website says appointment only too: What do you do/how do you handle people who do just turn up unannounced? One of your old videos gave directions to your unit. I reckon I get 2 or 3 per week walk in unannounced and I just deal with them to the point I only enforce appointment only at weekends.
