  1. I was about to say that there can't be that many Bulgarians in Yorkshire but I remembered my first (and last) trip to a beautiful place called Rotherham. I arrived there by train, the doors opened and waiting to get on was a friend of mine from Bulgaria :-) Definitely a small world p.s. Auris Hybrids are very popular among the Bulgarian Uber drivers in London but for some reason they like to buy them new from Toyota with a "Uber" discount.
  2. Oh yes they do. Otherwise why does everyone that ring me ask What are the "couple of minor marks" that you mentioned in your advert text? I now put that "couple of minor marks" in every advert. Works superbly against the "Oh, but I thought you said the car was immaculate" brigade.
  3. I love the political correctness in this sentence
  4. While the no-cars and no-parking in city centres mantra quickly kills off the British high street.
  5. My camera and lens are nothing special and with photos of cars things like weather, location, background, light, angles, shadows, time of day, car cleanliness, editing ability etc etc are far more important. I could now do my photos with even a basic slr / lens combo and I still use a 5 year old Nikon D7100 with the kit lens (18-105mm). It does take more time and then editing them after takes hours. Literally hours. It's not for everyone.
  6. +1 but Best Offer disabled. eBay buyers always send aggressive enough offers, I don't want to encourage them by enabling the offer function. Have you noticed how the text ONO, OVNO doesn't appear in that many adverts anymore?
  7. I am having a very good month, not despite zero emissions but because of it. A lot of market activity in the London area from buyers that simply HAVE TO change their car although they don't really want to. 3 out of 10 sales this month were to such customers. Very nice condition diesel p/xs at VERY sensible prices means I will also start June well stocked up with full stock ready to sell. Most sales from AT and for the first time ever every customer had left a refundable holding deposit before travelling to view. Not on the strength of videos but just because I asked them to. AT works great for me, I can only assume it's the images quality as my pricing is never the keenest :-)
  8. It won’t be the latest. You can apply for V62 (customers name) in a post office and having that old V5 will save you the £25 fee.

  10. I see that In Blackbushe all the time. The sheet on the windscreen will say 1 or 2mm in red and when I look at the tire it will be much much better. Someone didn't bother checking or selected a wrong drop down option on their iPad or whatever they use. `
  11. Because the thread title was specific about Boost Ads I thought I'd mention that there is cost involved for anyone that doesn't know much about this. I've said it many times on forums before: the only thing worse than a very expensive advertiser that works is a very cheap one (or free) that doesn't.
  12. +1. Takes a fair bit of time, generates some unpleasant comments that stay there visible for everyone to see and ad boosting actually costs money.
  13. I love repricing up. My AT rep recently said that on one ad I did 28 price changes in 3 months :-) A car CAN look too cheap and hence the target buyer will miss it completely.
  14. I think the importance should be on who has the most quality stock and what location gives the greatest opportunity to buy stock CHEAPLY even if you have to pay them a few quid more for their buyers fees. All I can add is that I remember BCA Gold fee of around £80 for a £3500 car which right now will be £250 ish. Not a huge difference between Gold and Platinum at the moment.
  15. I think auctions are the way to go. My biggest regret is wasting many hours of my time to go and look at private cars far and wide in my early years. So much stock at auction plus you’ll learn quicker. But go several times, watch what happens, keep your eyes peeled AND make garage contacts so you don’t have to avoid cars with no Mot for example.
  16. I love the place. NO physical auction I've ever been to presents so many opportunities if you are not there to get a specific car or a specific model. Just don't go and try to collect a car on the same day. The key office will make you wait for hours.
  17. My accountant didn't mention any such thing so for now it's probably not needed. Watch this space though...
  18. I've often though that about car finance... My reason for not getting deeply involved in the MTD discussion is that for my business the only change will be a minimal increase in annual accounting costs. Our accountants (a separate company) are dealing with all set up and problems that come from MTD so I don't need to get deeply involved.
  19. Sometimes payments get flagged for additional security. The customer may get an automated phone call, text or email asking him to confirm the payment instruction. Sometimes customers miss these and it takes a while for the bank to release the funds. Chances are after he spoke to his bank again you will receive this payment today.
  20. I think from 2010 onwards BT was standard on the E Class, they all should have it (even without COMAND). When you press the TEL button there is a message Ready for Bluetooth Telephony
  21. Maybe he is starting to pair it from the car's menu. It's best to start from the phone's own Bluetooth menu. Does he get to any stage anywhere where the car is finding his phone or his phone is seeing the car?
  22. Can't be as easy, I just spent 50 minutes on the phone with my accountant to go through a month's worth of transactions, she actually needed to complete my annual accounts earlier than usual to get everything in line. She uses Sage, I send her all invoices on paper and some Excel files. She says that most accountants are stuggling with it, not just VAT or car sales related.
  23. Absolutely. Delete all old phones already stored in the system as it supports a maximum of 5 I think.
  24. Yet us dealers pay HUGE fees to the auction houses and don't walk. Because even with the fees added the purchase still makes sense. Car supermarkets and low cost airlines have demonstrated over the years that customers will absolutely pay the fees (exorbitant amounts in some cases) and even if some "walk" most will buy. For a small business however it's a great selling point to not have fees. We have bigger margins and lower costs than the supermarkets so we can live without the fees. Also huge potential for bad reviews and trolling on social media. Find some Facebook adverts for the British Airway AmEx credit card which has £195 annual fee, make yourself a cuppa and read the comments* (*I have that card. Gives you almost 30000 avios points which I use for 5-6 flights in Europe every year. But people don't know and scream about the fee.)
