Just posted on a different thread on here about the exact same topic. "Ive called and spoke with my rep this morning and my bill is going up by roughly 5 or 6 percent. I dont use anthing else other than AT for used cars so its not really that big of a deal for me. Dont get me wrong I would be happier if it wasnt going up but that is never ever going to happen. If I was on other sites then I suppose I would have to reconsider but all the others that I have ever tried just dont cut it. Interestingly I recieved two emails this week notifying me that my Mobile Phone contracts are going up by about 4% too. I am with two differnet providers EE and O2 and tbh O2 is poor by comparison so guess what I have cancelled my O2 contracts. Will I increase my spend with EE? Probably because it works better for me. Its not rocket science just run your bsuiness how you see fit and if you dont feel that youre getting a decent roi or value for money then can it off. If you dont then more fool you I say" Hats off to those that have found a way to run a succesful business without the need to use Autotrader but for those that carry on using them but constantly whine on about it I just dont understand it.

Sounds more like Find and Fund My Business to me. How many of these types of websites are there now? It’s like that car wash one Autovolo that we were told was the next big thing are they still going? Think I will swerve this one as well unless of course it proves a success but won’t hold my breath.

Thereabouts v last January and ahead of 2016 so cant complain. Buying them is still the biggest headache though, buying them with any profit left in them that is. One of the few franchise contacts I still had just called to say theyre going auction only from this month and their used targets have gone up 25% so they are more than likely gonna be keeping most of the px's anyway. Anyone esle experiencing that?

So I get a call on a car on Friday afternoon that up to this point I had had little interest in. Nice chap asks all the right questions, asks about the price and arranges an appointment for Sunday. All good no issues. Saturday I get two more telephone calls on the same car but different punters. This time complete and utter space cadets all the usual BS and then ridiculous bids. Guy is due to arrive 2pm on Sunday, get a text off him to confirm he is still coming all good. Then I recieve two further calls similar to Saturday loads of nonsense and crazy offers. Guy turn up just before 2 goes for a test drive comes back happy but then starts haggling despite agreeing the price on Firday. He then starts to labour on about timewasters and how can I be bothered to deal with messers when he is here to buy the car. Anyway I do end up doing it for a slightly better price and he buys it. It was only afterwards I started to wonder was it all a ploy to get me to discount the car? Maybe I am just being paranoid or as anyone else experienced anyhting similar?
-
They also say that every car is sourced from Main Dealers so I take it you operate a Franchise?
-
Just read this bit on their site. Yes, and thousands of happy customers think so too. We only list cars from vetted dealers and every used car is mechanically inspected and checked against the HPI database, which verifies its history and mileage. Besides the warranty, you’ll have 14 days from delivery of the car to return it for your money back if you decide not to keep it (check terms and conditions for collection charges). Who stands by that you or them?

Just signed up for DA - Am I barking mad?!
SuperLease replied to Ocsltd's topic in General Dealer Chat
I’ve had a few wasted journeys buying from DA. The surprise on their faces when you refuse to pay for a misdescribed Car makes me laugh. Like to see them do it with their own money. The attitude of some franchise dealers towards traders is frankly disgusting. Won’t be renewing my subscription I’ve had some decent stock over the past few years but like most places that side of the jobs just getting harder. I’m back to buying off privates on Autotrader. Had a few good buys this month sold one 2 days after putting it back on there :-) -
Definitely won’t be entertaining Gumtree. I deal with enough numpties as it is. Just had a quick search and there isn’t half some crap on there so not surprised it attracts them. I will stick to what I know works. Thanks for all of your comments.

http://cardealermagazine.co.uk/publish/gumtree-ebay-join-forces-expand-offering-motor-industry/145118 I don’t use either of these so I wouldn’t know if this is any good or not. Lads I know that do use them say they get a lot of messers. Won’t it be just the same punters looking on both sites anyway?
-
Punters are kin numpties at times I mean what do they expect to happen to all the hire cars when they get de-fleeted? I bet theres more to these stories its more likely the cars developed a problem the dealers not handled it properly and the punters found any old angle to have a pop.

dont get me started on auction prices I have wasted too many hours at the block this month been better off going in the bookies

Autotrader Forum Closure wef 19th January
SuperLease replied to Arfur Dealy's topic in General Dealer Chat
I read the posts but never commented I saw one fella in particualr get a whole world of abuse once from so called professional business men because he said how happy he was with autotrader. I will miss it for the entertainment but thats about it. Never convinced that Beth wasnt some kind of a word processor or something anyway. -
Your favorite driving to auction albums
SuperLease replied to Arfur Dealy's topic in General Dealer Chat
I usually listen to "The Greatest Day" by Take That on the way there and then "Still Havent Found What Im Looking For" by U2 on the way back.... -
I havent been able to buy a decent car off there for about 3 months, Dealer Auction is just as bad although I did manage to buy a couple before Xmas. Im giving AutoTradeMail another go and bought one yesterday, just back from BCA and I might as well have stayed in bed I know prices usually rise in Jan but some of the hammer prices were ridiculous.
-
Very helpful and thank you I’m already using a few of these so I will get in touch with them to see how it might affect my current deal if I was to join. Great work by the way some good businesses on this list. Every little helps and all that....

Genuine question putting all this nonsense to one side what exactly is the point of this association? Free or not. What would I gain that I dont already have? I am not expecting a reply from one of the founders because they have made it clear they wont reply on here or any other forum aside from the one they run which you have to be a member of before you can ask any questions about being a member. Can anyone answer this in a nice simple way that a numpty like me can understand please?

Have you looked at moving in to an industrial unit? The main downside is loss of passing traffic which means you are more dependent on the internet for sales however the benefits far outweigh that for me. Usually a more cost effective way of expanding your business too.

Had that on an E Class once turned out they were prone to a water leak in the box. I bought it back and blocked it.

Manufacturer rejecting warranty claim
SuperLease replied to justlooking's topic in General Dealer Chat
Best of luck in my experience you stand more chance if you stand behind the current owner. Once the manufacturers get wind you may be liable they will stand their ground. If they think it’s the current owner going to be out of pocket that’s when they are more inclined to protect their brand reputation. -
Our biggest overheads are auction fees and advertising. With one of the 7 working for COX surely you can negotiate us a special deal with both Manheim and Motors. I don’t expect you will ever be able to get us a deal with Autotrader though. I’ve read the exchanges between your Chairman and them in the past and I can’t imagine he’s welcome at their ivory towers any time soon. I also read an article in CD magazine only recently written by another of your founders Chris who too took to slagging Autotrader off. I don’t see how any of that type of activity will help us independents. The only voice we need is one that can get our prices down with the Autotraders the Mannheim’s and BCA. That’s where our margins are squeezed. You lot get that sorted and I would happily pay you a relative premium. In the meantime I will happily manage with the brilliant suppliers I somehow have managed to find on my own.

Looks like they’ve lost their voice. Not a single response to any of the previous questions put forward on this thread. A thread they started. Bizarre!!!

Does anyone have the definitive supplier list for this association? I read yesterday that membership is now Free so keen to know who we would get access to.

Looks like they have been hacked they have now rremoved it. It was a parody to YMCA complete with a song about Independents, if they havent been hacked I would seriously consider not joining this association if that is what they would be spending their time and our money doing. Sorry I do have a sense of humour but I dont see what value that would bring to my business. Seems very self indulgent to me. May be one of them will come back to thier own thread and confirm either way?
