  1. Always state of charge faults, we give them a full charge to get them working and then give them back to the customer to show them what they are (not) missing. It’s a fifty fifty split at the moment between those that realise it’s a blessing the fact it’s not working and those that want a new battery. Ring 4 suppliers before ordering and always check the dealer. We got one half the price of euro from Renault a couple of weeks ago.
  2. We had a noisy box on a legacy a few years ago, it needed a new rear bearing, was about £300 for the gearbox guys bit.
  3. I regularly drive all over the country and never see a police car anywhere.
  4. You have met her too! Very dirty....
  5. We stock around 70 cars, only ones with road tax paid for by us are put on the MID (Courtesy cars, recovery truck, sooty van etc). Other cars in stock that are sorn'd do not have to go on the MID. Plus as has been mentioned, the trade plates must be on the MID too. Adding every car that comes through your hands is definitely excessive.
  6. This is why we decided a few years ago to stop retailing cars over 10 years old (8 years on Vauxhalls) Its just far too risky, we also put a limit on how far away they travel, i certainly wouldn't let somebody travel 200 miles for a older car. Last one we tried (2006 Volvo S60 2.0t) went 50 miles and put a leg out of bed, this was after me lending it to a mate to use for a couple of weeks and also using it myself for 4 weeks! The guy refused his cash back at the side of the road and asked us to fix it.... i said no chance its going to china cube shaped.
  7. They are all sold as seen... did you get charged a assured charge?
  8. On a serious note, I would crack on and sell him it, and state my purchase back terms (ie £150 per week plus 30p per mile). That will get him to sort his shit out.
  9. If its one of the budget type filters -(Euro crossland) they disintegrate into mush and clog the bottom of the filter housing. I think the pick up pipe in the sump can get a bit choked on this engine too.
  10. Anything Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti, Lamborghini and VAG cars with the Auto gearbox.
  11. I prefer it when the wife wants it and the husband isn’t interested
  12. Sounds like the vacuum pipe to the servo has a leak. Should be an easy fix for any mechanic. However inside the M25 you can expect to pay Edinburgh rates to get it fixed.
  13. Apparently he has just been fired from his job for stealing..... He worked at a chrome trim manufacturer.
  14. It would have a diesel knock whilst it ran out of injected fuel? I agree, they usually are very strong, however we sold a mondeo a few years ago that had a very slight noise on the engine we weren’t sure what it was... it came back three months later with a conrod through the block! They are a wet belt... and nobody ever wants to pay the real price to get them changed.
  15. The belt isn’t due on the, until 10 years or 125k, somebody’s wasted their money. id be getting a look at it and seeing the whole story.
  16. What age is it? Also, it really needs ironing out at point of sale, was it sold for a taxi or not? And if it was did you note it on the invoice? i think the instrument cluster gives grief, and it’s a easy fix.
  17. However most new cars now have PLASTIC .... yes PLASTIC ones! Yes that's right, heavy handed mechanics now have to be careful not to break a PLASTIC sump plug...... Its a good job these PLASTIC sump plugs don't do something important! I walked into a "Bar" in town a couple of weeks ago and stood for 20 minutes waiting to get a pint of beer... It was full of arseholes ordering coffee cocktail frothy things emitting smoke from liquid nitrogen and cooing over said drinks and taking multiple photos of the bastards! And paying on their phone! I gave up in the end and went to another "bar"
  18. We take a refundable deposit of £100, but only if we have seen the original with the cherished plate on it. As soon as they produce a V5 with the correct plate on it we send it back. EPV do not put it into the trade until you have the correct reg on the V5 or else it really confuses matters.
  19. I would have dropped them and smeared dog shit on them.
  20. I wouldn’t be investing in this one, their sister company rent 2 own cars has a negative net worth of 4.5m!
