I agree Pip- but I widen it to all German cars. Did about 2 and a half years ago. We are not alone. When I was a kid in the 80’s and into the early 90’s I loved them and sold plenty. I still have a few, but mostly when they come in PX. The older they are, the more headaches 3-5 years seem OK after that, I’m not so confident. Also, often cheap people aspire to own one and don’t look after them properly- and unlike in the old days- they are no longer ‘bulletproof or built to last’ especially if they’re not looked after. Stress levels have been miles lower- although, of course, the sales numbers are lower too, as many still aspire to Germany’s ‘ahem’ finest. The ones doing big numbers a month sell plenty. For me, and I know a few on here, agree, VW/Audi is just one step above Vauxhall junk. Bmw and Mercedes are a bit better, but the W123 was the last decent Merc IMHO. It’s a personal thing maybe but you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do. I’ve not been impressed by any VW/Audi, Merc or BMW for many a year. (I do like the BMW i3 but whether that’ll be a good older second hand product or not I don’t know.) Looks, build quality , driving experience or anything except a V8 petrol engine or Bi-turbo monster- but I wouldn’t want one myself. Kia and Hyundai a much better product I think by far. Love the looks of the Kia Sportage etc especially. Anyway: Us dealers are like customers luckily in that we all like and buy different things and have different levels of perceived risk-aversion. How long a warranty do you get when you buy a new VW car? 3 years? Makes you wonder how much confidence the manufacturer has in the product. Or maybe they just want you to buy a new one. After all, it’s a bad business model making an indestructible car.

:0) Imagine the sweat coming of his brow just thinking about it! Another one yesterday and two today! Back in business all of a sudden! Where is TV anyway?

Utterly Dreadful June Three already so far though, so let’s hope we’re back in business!

I never understand this so called ‘log book loans’. V5 is not proof of ownership. Even says so on the back. There must be other requirements.

Tiverton is near AD no? He’d love to help with free advice. :o) To the OP: Que?

Ha. Yes, each time I drive past the behemoth I shudder to myself. They needed a bigger place. Not. Well, maybe for the queue of complaints on a Monday morning.

WILL THE HOT WEATHER PUT PUNTERS OFF BUYING
NOACROSS replied to Barclaywoodmotorco's topic in General Dealer Chat
There’s usually some excuse. Too hot, too wet, too many holidays, half term, Xmas, politics. Brexit. Uncertainty. End of the month. Start of the month.... -
Is warranty legally necessary with discounted cars
NOACROSS replied to Peter Dim's topic in General Dealer Chat
Most people are normal, so you will often & probably be fine selling it. However, the odd moron will surface from time to time to kick you in the nuts TG. And they will have all the rights in the world of course. You've just gotta be prepared for when it’s your turn for the inevitable kicking. -
Just had the same on an MX5 Customer ‘really wants’ a pearl white special edition one with low miles. Been looking for ages (no you haven’t) Apparently Autotrader says it should be £1100 cheaper. (It also says I should give her much less than I offered for her Fiesta.) Due to the above, she says she is ‘withdrawing her interest’ What do the kids say-lol?

Nice one Ken. :o) Why can’t Paddy pay by transfer?

Only done 8. Would have been nine (Clio moron who I decided not to let him buy). Quiet times happen. Never makes it any easier though no matter how long you’ve been doing it. The months aren’t long enough.

How to negotiate a vehicle in a car dealership?
NOACROSS replied to joshuagomes's topic in General Dealer Chat
I’m unsure if you’re talking about nearly new, older or what type of car but: Be polite and friendly. Don't be an arse or play hard ball. Don’t think that offering a ‘cash deal mate’ will be of any interest. The best deal for the dealer (and therefore maybe your best deal) will often be if you do have a part exchange, are realistic about its value, and are looking to at least consider their finance deals and service add ons. There might not be as much in the car for the dealer as you think, so bear that in mind. -
OP. This I agree with, although more and more people google search ‘ I want a car init’ or similar. Getting your result/service up the list is where the challenge and the money is for me I may have neglected to ever mention that I don’t advertise on AT anymore and never will again ;o) so you would have thought I’d be in your lane. As said above though, you're really underestimating the challenge ahead of you to get anywhere near AT so you’d be better off striking their name from the entire record above. If you’re building a service data base like say - Money Supermarket, or Compare The Market, then I guess I sort of see what you’re aiming for. Good luck though- you come across well and not too up yourself like many others we have entertained. Brumz etc.

I know. Let’s make an awesome beer. Put it in a nice bottle, photo it and put it in a dark cave somewhere. Get some new guy to put it on ‘the internet’. Wait for the money to roll in. God I’m negative. Someome will prove us wrong soon and reinvent the (steering?) wheel. Allegro anyone? To the OP. Please ignore my crusty sarcasm and enlighten us on how traffic will be driven to your cave. I mean site.

Do carbs in alcohol count? ;0)

Apologies if you answered this already -but too many words for my brain to take in this morning: How are you going to get customers (potential buyers) of our cars to your site?
-
Did he just call Dave cheap? :0) Oh dear (no pun intended).

Apologies. Must be thinking of someone else. Good going 18 anyway. And diesels too.

Great stuff Grant! You’re not on AT either no?
