The internet may be revolutionary but it hasn’t revolutionised the way we sell cars, the primary reason for internet purchase is the expectation of a discount, the next is ease of purchase, when jo bloggs wants to p/ex his micra with bubbles on the back arch and a worn out ignition lock it gets complicated, and if amazons thinking of offering wbac rates its a non starter . rip virgin cars tesco cars etc

just had the same myself, broke the golden rule [sunday!) and gone in to " such a sweet sounding person " i shall put a prayer in for you if you put one in for me

Customer wants refund, advice please
have a word with the wife replied to tradegirl's topic in General Dealer Chat
said this before, so here we go again, invoice, so many just buy 100 carbon copy invoices either from ebay or car auction site salespeople, these are simply not good enough, and most do not comply anyway, basic simple terms, "who to contact in first instance" written on your invoice immediately is your defence to " ive had it in at jo bloggs autos and he says bla bla " you quote = There was nothing written into the contract. so change your invoice solicitor friend, make sure he knows consumer contract law, if he does, reword your invoice with him/her. welcome to forum and dont let the whatsits grind you down -
a VERY large company called autoquake went into administration 6 years ago. It was rumoured that another VERY large company would take them over due to there very large internet presence, they didnt. they bought instead into "carsite", another large company that had a big internet presence, this "company" that bought into them had pre-existing customers on there books who they had sold finance to, insurance to, and had millions of customers who had a discount card with them . it lasted a year the company? tesco. the reason all 3 failed ? they couldnt get stock. number one job is having the right stock. just buy my book " four wheels to a fortune " available all good bookshops

Parking charge advice required
have a word with the wife replied to sparky's topic in General Dealer Chat
Probably find the parking firm and subsequent debt collection agency are one of the same company.just name changes / address to insert fear, before going further with legal action they usually reconnect with dvla to confirm theyre right, and you say this has been rectified but not retrospectively [which is confusing] i wouldnt worry too much, youve got the paperwork of day of sale, its highly unlikely they would take it to court on dvla details only, when you've got proper date of sale paperwork in your possesion, i hate these people, they're paperwork is so intimidating, its the dvla youve to watch, very hard to object to them when they fine you. -

mr c, yes i can see where your coming from, but it was quite close being 32? days. stage one ignore the text............if he phones, you need to see the claim in writing [ garage bill/estimate, print out from scanner if poss too ] . stage two if he has phoned and he has supplied you with a bill thats hes paid before he contacted you then your not liable in my opinion, if hes not paid the bill and sent a estimate, then you need to see the car yourself, you need to get at least plug it in, you need to see lights on before you plug it in too ! stage three the bluff? lets assume light is on and its saying cat, what will happen if you offer him his money back at this point ? less usage of car so far ? does he love the car and not wanting to give it back at all ? this would give you wiggle room, he pays half of cost, get it in writing signed that hes accepted those conditions. If hes a total toss, and kicking off, repair the car, make it clear you maybe using used parts as its a used car, and most definitely get him to confirm the work in writing ON ONE OF YOUR INVOICES that says on it replacement part fitted as goodwill gesture AT NO COST TO CUSTOMER, this covers any possible future screaming and shows your a genuine dealer who looks after his customers. then put a kipper under back seat [ JOKE ! ] -

i wish you luck matey, i cant really fault you, and will always offer my tuppence worth if i can. sales, dont be too eager, ask the customer questions, these questions then can be used as a sales aid , eg " whats your occupation ? " customer= "nurse" you = " oh thats why you've come to look at the nissan then, you want reliability ? " customer "yes" thats a very basic idea do not rabbit on, listen to the customer, listening sells more cars than talking bull, sometimes you have to ask questions to bull it up a bit, but make those questions relevant to the sale. your knowledgeable in your product, so let this come out too.

As outlined in the Queen’s Speech, the main elements of the Bill are: • Repealing the Victorian-era Bills of Sale Acts and replacing them with a Goods Mortgage Act which enables individuals to use their existing goods (such as a vehicle) as security for a loan, while retaining possession of the goods. • Increasing protection for borrowers who get into financial difficulty. • Helping borrowers in financial difficulty by giving them the right to voluntary termination by handing over their vehicle or other goods to the lender. • Providing protection for innocent third parties who buy a vehicle subject to a logbook loan that may be at risk of repossession. “Logbook loans represent an issue for our industry as they do not have to be recorded on the vehicle data registers, meaning that vehicles can be easily sold without the clear title.

ok, we need more information, fault codes, emmision print out, etc, this "first place" ? were they trying to cure the fault or just changing the exhaust ? do you have a fault code ? peugeots do seem to destroy there cats when they get older, but if theres a underlying fault it will burn out a new one, and spurious cats [which yes we all fit ] tend to only last till next mot anyway, if the plugs on the lamba sensors are the same, swap the lamdas over [ possible on some cars] so the pre lamba is the post lamba because the post lamda reads the cat condition

V5 application - how long?
have a word with the wife replied to Willoughby's topic in General Dealer Chat
Has it come yet ? -
spares or repair ?
-
coolant temp sensor, tells the ecu the temp of engine, if its sending a signal of lower than actual engine temp, engine will richen and give high emmisions, with proper fault reader you can actually view the figures with live data, not saying it is this, but a possibility and common failing on many cars.
