Rejecting car after work has been carried out
have a word with the wife replied to Roweco's topic in General Dealer Chat
correct me here lads ? re invoice page 1 ? £552 plus vat for timing chain kit ! a chain, a tensioner and 1 / 2 ? guides ? i always look a bit deeper me, had it a week and garage decided to charge him £550 for work not required ? not being funny here but does the guy come across as being easily led/ frightened ? i personally would make a appointment with the guy, borrow a cheap code reader, visit the vehicle, read/delete the codes [if theyve not already been deleted] take it for a drive see if light pops back up [ i would tell the guy your reason for visit but not tell him your reading codes till you get there and that your bringing YOUR mechanic with you for a second opinion, but just go on your own] he cannot refuse you. if light comes back on and it sounds like a overloaded cement mixer [ no pun intended] then fair do, if not, and let me be very clear on this, then any slight rattle is consistent with age and mileage, and no claim will be considered at all, you were quite happy to deliver the car 100 miles so i would definitely do the same again, i, personally think he is using this to his advantage [distance] and the garage are quite happy to cover there arse by doing there job, might be even tempted if you cant borrow a £20 code reader to buy one, let us know. -

From what i am reading, being a cat s in this circumstance is actually a help not a hindrance ! -
vote for me I will by 2021 ensure that every car dealer gets a free windyman I will double the staff at dvla ensuring the phone is answered in 1 minute I will disband the small claims, it is just a burden on our businesses I will introduce carxit, for every car "exiting" your business [sold] you will receive tax free £1000 bonus, carxit. I will bring autotrader into government ownership, guaranteeing no one pays more than £3 per advert. what else would you like ?

i disagree experienced motor trade people would sort the road tax, hold onto the p/ex for 7 days [once its gone its gone] and sorn the current cars they have, its the dvla law, many of these cars have been purchased may onwards, thats 8 months give or take parked up somewhere, after 3 month they should be put in trade [dvla], you can buy a lot of cars in 8 months

Ban on diesel cars proposed for Bristol
have a word with the wife replied to John Bowman's topic in General Dealer Chat
but the clowncil are also thinking of introducing a scrappage scheme, set to be introduced as part of the scheme, please read the whole article ! cheap diesels in bristol lads ! come on, scan that part of the country ! labour want to scrap business rates for shops in town, then want to stop customers coming in ? -
There is no issue in buying a cat b to break, that's what b means = "break only" It has not been inferred that you, quote = "would buy a Cat B car without a waste licence and fumble my way to try and get it on the road". the frightening thing is twofold, one, that you find, it odd that a flood damaged flooded pre accident value £20k car with barely a scratch on it, would be written off as a Cat B. and two, as below =
-
General observation, quite frightening really ! As i said on that thread anyone applying for a v5 after oct 2016 for a cat a or b will not get one, any vehicle out there ie, this range rover, the v5 was applied for before 2016
-
Back tracking to the v5, you, i assume, taxed it for her online, therefore it will already be in her name, when you also informed them of the transfer of owner, she needs reminding of this, and also that it is her responsibility of ensuring that the vehicle complies with the terms of vehicle registration, ie, dvla can inform police, tax, and other agents of the correct owner, not you . If the car is in her name, already, and there are no changes, then she should receive a fresh [ replacement] v5 in 5, yes FIVE days if she phones them and has her debit card ready, by post, could take up to 6 weeks. this "squeal" from the belt/s is she just using the car for short journeys and the alternator can't keep up ? yes i read you changed the belts, maybe wants taking up a bit now they have "worn" in ? It's just another day in paradise.

I did not realise you had a waste management licence and a waste carriers licence, where is your authorised treatment facility based ?
