New trader - best warranty and physical card payment provider?
Arfur Dealy replied to MrV's topic in General Dealer Chat
I say, Mr Customer unless you are buying a new car with a manufacturer warranty then most warranties are worthless IMO. When buying a much older car the CRA2015 covers you against undisclosed faults which were apparent at purchase, however you need to take ownership and responsibility for the care, servicing and repairs of your car because faults / wear n tear which you would expect from a vehicle of its age and mileage are not covered. Something along those lines... -

BEST and WORST decision that you've made in your business
Arfur Dealy replied to umesh's topic in General Dealer Chat
Best.. Videos and only appointing customers who’ve paid an upfront deposit. Getting my unit, no more customers coming to my home. Buying online, saving so much time and effort. Worst. I honestly can’t think of any apart from not learning the first time about buying anything Range Rover. Long time ago...., overfilling my Zippo, lighting a cig in stop start traffic (it exploded) and then crashing into the back of an unmarked cop car... oh and rolling my mums Fiat 128 on the day I passed my test... she didn’t know I’d taken it.. Those were the days...- 57 replies

It won’t just be for this year and then forgotten... the question will still be asked... “Have you ever had an insurance policy cancelled”. Your “no claims bonus” will be either under the business or your name....it can’t be used on both or on multiple policies, that’s why you need to upfront and honest with your insurers or potential new insurers. BTW. I have no idea why my replies are being mixed up...

What repairs/servicing won't you tackle?
Arfur Dealy replied to Mikey360's topic in General Dealer Chat
Everything. I’ve changed a flat tyre and the occasional wiper... nothing else -
It won’t just be for this year and then forgotten... the question will still be asked... “Have you ever had an insurance policy cancelled”. Is the policy in the ltd companies name ? If you’ve ceased trading, been liquidated or something else, it’s fundamental to the underwriting of your renewal. You need to tell the insurance company.

The question “have you ever had a policy cancelled” is asked by all insurers... They will all want to know why and they all look down on it. I think you’ve bolloxed yourself. Try admitting to a “you’ve had a policy cancelled” and they’ll only know the few insurers which might touch you, just make sure you are sat down when they announce the premium.

Never liked the HSBC.... If you are SE they can't moan, its different if you are a Company. (me thinks) I could be wrong
-
Agreed... Stating the faults on the car is fundamental to covering your ass.
-
Absolutely
-
Absolutely right. BHM, you are missing the point about PDI sheets. It’s purpose it to show you are a responsible dealer, secondly billy signs it to confirm everything works the car was right at collection. To say it’s pointless and to not cover your ass is madness & to not give a signed copy to your customer is simply stupid.

Did the wart cream work.... ?

I have always found Manheim and Surecheck very reasonable and helpful....I know, I know I can hear the moan's..... I buy the greater majority of my cars BIN Silver with delivery through Manheim to my door. Last weekend I bought an X Type Auto, paid on the Monday...Tuesday I get a call from Colchester saying gearbox has a problem and to call Surecheck. Call Surecheck, they arranged inspection ring me back on Thursday agreeing full refund....Refund arrived back in my bank today This is the second time its happened out of Colchester, however they've dealt with it quickly and openly...... I think paying for delivery makes a big difference and I always point this out to Surecheck guys.
-
Well... I disagree, the customer signs the PDI at collection after confirming it’s accuracy. They get a copy and I keep the master. It makes no sense to not give the customer a copy. Transparency and openness is key.
