  1. Have had a word with the yard or the transport manager.
  2. or Harvey Weinstein.I was reading that Geoffrey Cox the Attorney General who is a barrister charges £1000 per hour ! On the other hand legal aid work is now capped and solicitors and barristers wait a long time to get paid.
  3. If Roweco is a company, then the car belonged to the company and its disposal ( which has to be at market value ) would have to be appropriately recorded by the company . If HMRC catch you out by not recording a sale they can destroy you.
  4. The definition of trader in 2) Does selling a car relate to the Roecos business or proffession ? I think most solicitors fees have increased substantially of late,£180 + vat per hour for instance. The reason I am told is because they are struggling, there are to many of them.
  5. I think Roweco should stand his ground. It appears that the term ‘sold as seen without warranty’ is acceptable in the building industry. For example if you look at Altrad Belle who are national and suppliers to the construction industry. They are advertising plenty of ex demo and used machinery ‘ sold as seen without warranty’.In which case I would like to know how Roweco cannot do the same especially as this car was not his ‘ stock in trade ‘ as is the case with Altrad Belle.
  6. I do agree AD and I think anyone operating a business involving the sale of goods would be expected to know that.In this case the seller is a builder ( who doesn’t know that )who has disposed of an item that the business acquired in extraordinary circumstances/ or by default and not during the usual course of business. However,I have absolutely no idea if a small claims court judge would agree with that.
  7. I don’t think that Roweco building company has any duty of care to refund .The sale was not carried out during the usual course of the business.Even though the car was sold off very cheaply,Roweco despite having little knowledge and no expertise in car sales showed great care by having it serviced to make sure it was legal and fit for the road. The buyer entered into a contract to buy it ‘ as seen, without warranty ‘ having understood the circumstances of the sale and because of this had it re-serviced without reference to the seller. At least Roweco now understands what can happen in our business !
  8. Sounds OK,except did the customer sign your invoice.
  9. It is true,I thought it was very funny at the time.It appears you are the only one that agrees.
  10. How was it described on the sales invoice ?
  11. True story from 2 years ago.I know of someone whose elderly father in law was a very successfull and wealthy guy.He was mid eighties and in poor health but still doing a bit driving. One day he calls to see his son who is shocked to see he has a brand new car,it is some sort of Rolls Coupe. The old guy the passes away a week later. So the son is left the new Rolls, how much are they £250k ? It turned out that the old guy probably as a joke had taken out a finance agreement for a big lump which the son had to settle off .

I was referring to the punter who rejects the car having just taxed it.If they are going to be out of pocket it with this system ( if that is the case )it will no doubt cause aggrovation even if they have opted to pay tax monthly.

Well that won’t cause any trouble, will it ?
  14. By trading cars do you mean retailing them to the public or wholesaling to the trade.I would imagine all you will get is crap basic cover from some dodgy provider,we’ve all done that.BTW,I like your Tag name .I am guessing you are from somewhere like Croydon !
  15. Technically, I think AT are offering account holders 50% discount. However,if you are constrained by lack of space and already have all your stock on AT and it is impossible to advertise more,is that not some kind of financial descrimination. Should you therefore not be entitled to discount for Dec and Jan to make it a level playing field.....Come on Lawgistics, can we have an opinion please.
  16. I heard the other day about an old school mechanic last week nearly getting electrocuted working on a hybrid !
  17. My friends son has just got a new 5 series E hybrid as his company car.He does long journeys so after 20 miles when the petrol kicks in it does 20ish to the gallon.
  18. Grants of 75% appear to be availible for charging points for businesses who meet the criteria. If you go to Power EV for details.I am unsure whether it is for rapid charging points which is probably what you would need.
  19. It’s called ‘ catch a falling star ‘,good luck..The guys I was talking to last week in DC were very negative about Tesla.Did you see the launch of the indestructable De Lorean style Pick Up last week.It was a disaster, then the next day Elon Musk says he has 150,000 orders. I hope you have declared your investment to your wife !

Hi Matt Those after market alloys won’t be cheap. The dealer appears to fit a lot of them. They might still have the originals. They have done nothing illegal and they look like a proper family business. You could ask them nicely and they might swap it for something else.
  22. Ha Ha,I agree. However years ago a close friend wanted a Metro ( if anyone remembers them ) just to go to the shops. ( that’s about all they were good for ).So having been given a budget we get one as good as you can get, friends and family price ( that means no profit and usually a loss ).We drop it off but the next morning she called in some distress as their was a big problem with the unpaid for Metro as it had a huge oil leak which had marked her block paving. It turned out it had dropped a small spec of oil.I explained that Metros usually drop far more oil than that .However, it was the potential shame of having an oil stain on the block paving of their new cardboard house. The main concern was what would the neighbours say,so I advised to buy a new car but not a Metro.
  23. I used to do Sundays 11 til 3 and at 2.45 you always got people ‘ en mass ‘ coming in and we would just ignore them as we were pulling the stock in.Some would ask for a run in something and we would say sorry they are out of time and they would often take the huff.I would then often make it worse by questioning where they had been since 11.,nice Sunday lunch ,look around B&Q then here etc. Some of them would understand. One guy however would come in with his wife every Sunday for a run out in something and we let him because he was a loyal customer.
  24. Man City fan.....why not try the Emerati Sovereign Wealth Fund !
