Any companies that finance the over 70’s?
trade vet replied to NOACROSS's topic in General Dealer Chat
True story from 2 years ago.I know of someone whose elderly father in law was a very successfull and wealthy guy.He was mid eighties and in poor health but still doing a bit driving. One day he calls to see his son who is shocked to see he has a brand new car,it is some sort of Rolls Coupe. The old guy the passes away a week later. So the son is left the new Rolls, how much are they £250k ? It turned out that the old guy probably as a joke had taken out a finance agreement for a big lump which the son had to settle off . -
I was referring to the punter who rejects the car having just taxed it.If they are going to be out of pocket it with this system ( if that is the case )it will no doubt cause aggrovation even if they have opted to pay tax monthly.

Well that won’t cause any trouble, will it ?

By trading cars do you mean retailing them to the public or wholesaling to the trade.I would imagine all you will get is crap basic cover from some dodgy provider,we’ve all done that.BTW,I like your Tag name .I am guessing you are from somewhere like Croydon !

Technically, I think AT are offering account holders 50% discount. However,if you are constrained by lack of space and already have all your stock on AT and it is impossible to advertise more,is that not some kind of financial descrimination. Should you therefore not be entitled to discount for Dec and Jan to make it a level playing field.....Come on Lawgistics, can we have an opinion please.

I heard the other day about an old school mechanic last week nearly getting electrocuted working on a hybrid ! -
Installation of EV Charging Points. Thoughts?

My friends son has just got a new 5 series E hybrid as his company car.He does long journeys so after 20 miles when the petrol kicks in it does 20ish to the gallon. -
Installation of EV Charging Points. Thoughts?

Grants of 75% appear to be availible for charging points for businesses who meet the criteria. If you go to Power EV for details.I am unsure whether it is for rapid charging points which is probably what you would need. -
The Tesla Way - The way forward ££££
trade vet replied to Holmfirth Cars's topic in General Dealer Chat
It’s called ‘ catch a falling star ‘,good luck..The guys I was talking to last week in DC were very negative about Tesla.Did you see the launch of the indestructable De Lorean style Pick Up last week.It was a disaster, then the next day Elon Musk says he has 150,000 orders. I hope you have declared your investment to your wife ! -
They do good Parma ham aswell,it’s from Barnsley.

Hi Matt Those after market alloys won’t be cheap. The dealer appears to fit a lot of them. They might still have the originals. They have done nothing illegal and they look like a proper family business. You could ask them nicely and they might swap it for something else.

Ha Ha,I agree. However years ago a close friend wanted a Metro ( if anyone remembers them ) just to go to the shops. ( that’s about all they were good for ).So having been given a budget we get one as good as you can get, friends and family price ( that means no profit and usually a loss ).We drop it off but the next morning she called in some distress as their was a big problem with the unpaid for Metro as it had a huge oil leak which had marked her block paving. It turned out it had dropped a small spec of oil.I explained that Metros usually drop far more oil than that .However, it was the potential shame of having an oil stain on the block paving of their new cardboard house. The main concern was what would the neighbours say,so I advised to buy a new car but not a Metro.

I used to do Sundays 11 til 3 and at 2.45 you always got people ‘ en mass ‘ coming in and we would just ignore them as we were pulling the stock in.Some would ask for a run in something and we would say sorry they are out of time and they would often take the huff.I would then often make it worse by questioning where they had been since 11.,nice Sunday lunch ,look around B&Q then here etc. Some of them would understand. One guy however would come in with his wife every Sunday for a run out in something and we let him because he was a loyal customer.

Man City fan.....why not try the Emerati Sovereign Wealth Fund !

I have always found there are loads of bonuses to be had with the grading system but traders tend to only refer to their problem buys.I think it was Manheim who introduced online buying and grading and as I recall they were inundated with manufactured complaints from dealers trying to take advantage and get money off.

I may be wrong but the way I would do it if I was outsourcing repairs and paintwork.Take your latest set of annual accounts and divide the cost of sales with no of cars retailed and you may be in for a shock. So if it is a grand per car ( it’s probably more ) you have to generate 1200 profit when you allow for VAT to calculate the cost of the average sale.I think Mark does repairs in-house so hopefully his costs will be less.

It won’t stop there. The next thing could be that dealers will be ‘ awarded ‘ a star rating .The more stars, the more you pay !
-
Hi Good intro. We all get stuck with stuff and get it wrong. At least with cheaper stuff, the downside is reduced. You have a workshop,it is a sideline, why not try some higher risk stuff.Big petrol barges with a new test. Some people say that if you want to make money in this job ‘ you have to swim upstream ‘ .

You can’t be,you appear straight forward to me !

I hope you are not in ‘ The Trouser Leg Club’ Mark.

So the French are going to sidestep EU regs with secret subsidies and get away with it.It is the same in the steel industry.Meanwhile the UK follow the rules to the letter and huge plants in difficulty employing thousands get closed down.

Amazon in advanced talks with car firms to sell cars online

There will be a lot of RHD new stuff sitting around at the moment. How might the manufacturers react if they offer to take 500 of X every 3 months less 50% and pay now.?
