    john and mary were delighted with cazoos delivery driver . but slightly concerned with the delivery vehicle. oh dear, looks like someones not happy not to worry, you get 7 days to send it back ! you did read the contract didn't you john and mary ? should have listened to boris !

    believe it or not most franchises are good, believe me they would not get away with underhand tactics like days of old, the manufacturers keep a very close eye on most of their network these days through brand protection and strict audit, of course that does not mean some of the salesmen are bad - maybe thats what you were saying? rather than the dealership. I have many friends who are deeply invested in franchise and believe me its not easy these days, vast outlay for little returns, but they carry on,employ people, contribute a lot in tax / rates to the coffers,and tow the line properly, ling -try not to shoot them all, if you think otherwise then in the spirit of this forum list the ones you think are bad and why- but bear in mind any franchise who chooses not to deal with brokers is not a valid reason, that's just a choose likely based on protecting themselves from being diluted.

    And leave the px as is when it actually comes in if your keeping the stereo and leaving a hole in dash tell us and putting the alloys back to steel wheels tell us its not so bad now but used to be years back .think we have all had the ones where the brand new correct bosch battery on first viewing becomes an unknown flat duffer brand thats to small when the car gets here we now say we have to move the car to where its to be parked once bitten twice shy .

    Here's one for any business The wife has spent the last 4 hours on the phone trying to cancel a contract that comes up for renewal automatically,a bit like the rolling car insurance one where you have to dig deep to untick a box rather than tick a box to be in the club now we are in gdpr land Anyway She couldn't get through even though our call was important So And here's the bit I logged into the pic site and went through to the renewal page but said I had a problem so went on the chat site,a lovely chap asked how he could help and I explained the wife and I were both unemployed and had 4 cats and needed to cancel our policy,he was very humbled and fastracked me to the cancellation dept,I then had to explain that I the wife the 4 cats and now I have a budgie too couldn't afford to renew as we were all non working She had my policy cancelled 30 seconds later So the the message is to any car buyer Be polite And you often will get what you want And be fastracked

    Dont check all the lights and tyre depths as it's been pdi,d moted by the toughest garage in the nearest town (listen to the podcast earlier this week with nick,he uses the same mot station rolls Royce use,so customer ,do you honestly believe they are going to pass my Honda for my benefit if there was anything wrong with it) Dont try negotiating on price when the paperwork is being done it's not big and it's not funny

    First thing to say is Don't bring your carpet and torch ; makes you look stupid Don't bring your local expert who obviously knows NOTHING , It makes you look silly If you want FINANCE , tell the truth when asked the questions relating to earnings , ETC , ; Saves time and your embarrassment PHONE us , text is ok but we respect the call from you ; Helps to make you a considered proper buyer If you say your coming COME or at least tell us otherwise . That prevents you from being RUDE . Don't come looking for an Argument ,with a sour face and attitude ,; NOT impressed and you wont get anywhere as lots wont sell you the car anyway PLEASE make sure your not looking out of your pay grade , ; Just a waste of time both ways isnt it PX cars , TELL The TRUTH , Bring the Service book , We know its value so DONT Expect a £1,000 more than its worth , Dont tell " well they are making X online " ; makes you look silly . READ the advert , has it got service history , 12 Stamps On advert you blind idiot , Don't send an email going is Price Negotiable , ; You haven't seen the bloody thing yet . There will be more but its lunch time .

    Another one would be declare known faults on a part exchange would be good id respect there honesty if people did this some do but most don't funny thing is the people who trade in cars with loads of problems are the first ones back with small faults ,

    Biggest one for me is BE NICE. Nice, normal, polite people get much further with us (buying or even when a car has issues). A buyer is as much selected by us the seller as them selecting our car. If they don’t pass the test, they won’t get anywhere and we don’t have to sell to them as much as they don’t have to buy from us. Cash is not a help to us, neither is no PX or no finance deal, so it won’t secure a better deal.

    Absolutely hilarious. Once I had to slow down on the motorway I was laughing that much - I think it was coming up to a Christmas time. I was howling with laughter, I can’t remember what the story was but the double entendres must of been particularly strong. Tbh I’m surprised the BBC allowed it.

    Ling has been a breath of fresh air/kick up the arse for this forum. She's right, a lot of websites for manufacturers are dull and predictable. A lot of aspects of the car industry are dull. For example, here is the choice of the colours you can buy a Golf GTE from Das Welt Auto, if you wanted to: The wacky website is a big departure from the normal and as such, does its job but I can't help thinking (at least with the high-end) that there is a lot of "play it safe", "don't rock the boat" caution in their marketing, showrooms and branding. Up until now, that kinda worked. However life isn't going to be the same, for a long time. The high-end dealers are going to get a shock, for a number of reasons 1) they need to translate all the fluff of having an attractive receptionist, free coffee, comfy seats, posh cars inside etc into an appealing remote-selling prospect - quick and 2) the higher up you go, the more the entire car dealer industry seems to be propped up by finance. Its a bit like an enormous game of Jenga. I predict we'll see some big companies go bust in the next year or two - in fact I wouldn't be surprised if one of the "big" manufacturers (like, BMW or FCA) went under too. People need to understand the science behind Covid-19 and infectious diseases. This lockdown isn't for 3 weeks, its 3-6 months. 3 weeks is (just about, with a lot of propping up by a government with a money tree) achievable to pause then unpause the industry. 3-6 months, and there will be a queue of about 20 industries wanting government support and the car industry will be one of many. Firms need to take a risk, NOW, by trying to predict what "the new normal" will be like for the next year or so and adapt quickly because there will be a bounce-back, of sorts. But it will massively shift to online. Miss out on that and your cashflow is going to go weak, no matter how good it is at the moment.
