I’d more or less agree with this except for some people need being rude to (I call it straight talk) to correct their attitude or expectations. 95% of the time a punter turns up to see a particular car & nothing else so they’re half-sold before viewing. Its straight, frank, honest talk for me all of the way. Anyone talking-up their cars or making false promises is asking for comebacks. Clean/valet/touch-up/paint correctly within the expectations of the price/mileage band. Irrespective of profit, or loss, a retail car should be mechanically fit & SAFE. This is what the boards of ‘wipe the car with £150 profit’ boys at the auctions must be failing to achieve. As for opening hours I run on appointments so my phone is answered when it suits me. Phone calls at 9pm are ignored (very few phone the next day) & my phone is definitely off on a Sunday. Those who want to run their business 24 hours supplying the pissed & bored with free entertained are welcome to do so. Finally, learn that a deal is not a deal until your palm has been crossed with silver - all of the big talk, promises, emails & even a handshake count for sweet f.a. until you have their money in your pocket.

In this “internet age” any monkey can sell a car, that’s the easy bit, the car is usually sold before the buyer actually sees a salesman, the hard work has already been done, buying right stock with right spec pedigree etc, prepping it right and advertising in the right places without giving all your margin away is the hard bit. Then after it’s sold wiping ass n not murdering punters is the next phase

Sounds like the tree the rubber came from is still growing, from 2mm to 5/6mm depth overnight. I've got to get me some of those tyres! The only other thing that is growing is his fucking nose, the lying c**t.

Great website, nice stock - I would publish a landline number instead of or as well as your mobile, that's my only critique

Hi Simon Welcome to the Jungle.....I have looked at your website......I like it....However,it may be a good idea to mention and embellish your franchised dealer sales manager CV,punters will identify with that,it will increase your credibility. ...I bet you have some good contacts for buying stock direct......Good Luck in your new venture.

I agree with the big-talking R-R Sport driving brigade but the other side to this is that I wouldn’t necessarily believe every persons or companies accounts. I’d guess there’ll be a few who are struggling ‘on paper’ but seem to get by quite adequately.

I felt a lot like this when I first started but I have come to realise that its not worth chasing your price down to match the plastic traders. Proper punters pay proper money. So ask proper money for your proper cars, and accept you may not be busy seeing customers, but you wont be a busy fool either. I was more profitable selling 160 cars last year than I was 3 years ago when I sold 255. Thats the bit you really learn as time goes by.

I’ve never had any subprime clawback from First Response. I’d much rather have Prime punters too, but I’ll take any finance sale I can get.... I only get half a dozen subprime (paid out) deals a year probably but I’m very grateful for them as much as any other deal. Money is money Rodney.

Have done full bumpers in the past and done long key marks on panels with varying success. Spraying solid colours on complete panels is ok as long as the colour match is good. Did an Aygo bumper and the match was really good. Then i did a turquoise metallic which had a long key mark down 3 panels ,frustrating as I got the paint matched but you could tell where the new paint had been applied. With metallics its much harder to get a good match and blend /hide the new and old areas. If you arent careful when painting you can make the car worse with your 'repair'. I tried a bodyshop who seemed reasonable on price and did a mint job on a 207 wheel arch, thought at that point that I had found my 'paint guy'. The next quote from him was laughable though so found another who is a smart repair guy. His price is decent and his work is faultless even with metallics so I will stick with him. He can do bumper scuffs and bigger, but touch ins and really light marks I will touch up myself. If you find a decent paint guy, look after him and even give him a bit of work every now and again that you could do. If you do decide to do large areas yourself then my smart repair guy reckons use acrylic/waterbase for the colour and 2k for the laquer as you then have the tough hard coat protecting the colour underneath. And of course use a mask with 2K! You need filters which are B inorganic (ioscyanate 2K) , and P particulate.
