Wheelerdealer1 91 Posted April 17, 2019 Hi all I am thinking of signing back up to Dealer Auction after leaving last year, for anyone who still uses it has there been any changes to the terrible descriptions and unhelpful dealers ? Any feedback appreciated Thanks WD
David Horgan 564 Posted April 17, 2019 Only ever bought two cars from those crooks One was a Citroen C1 that was that badly described and lied about that much it actually looked like someone had put number plates on a different car when we saw it . I took it back with two huge gym guys and threatened to tip it upside down at the depot , We were refunded including travel costs , amazing what 24 stone of muscle does x 2 they actually had the car up on its side ready to go over . The other was a direct opposite of conning us but still a stitch up , The car was described as heavily chipped on bonnet , One key , NO Service history , Tyres less than 3mm . Screen cracked , Key mark on off side wing and drivers door , SEAT Cupra R in Blue , Anyway we had a customer desperate for that car and won the bid which surprised me as it went CAP clean , We do our own paintwork , Windscreens are easy as its almost next door , , Fit own tyres so thought there's still a profit " though not enough really " in the car after the work as it was sold for a good price to our customer . Gets to pick up the car and its paint work is Immaculate , NO Marks or chips at all , Screen as new , Two Keys , FULL Service history with Cam belt history , Four tyres at 6mm min Clearly this was earmarked for someone else but had to go thru the bid system didn't it , I just outbid them simple as that . Last time i ever logged on , Scam . Lies , Deceptive , My view only mind , Sooner the car in the flesh myself
Wheelerdealer1 91 Posted April 17, 2019 That’s terrible, thanks for the reply David, I will stick to Sytner for now then !
sellect2 19 Posted April 17, 2019 Don’t you find Sytner stuff does a fortune most of the time?
justina3 518 Posted April 17, 2019 Its the same all over the place you know one or two dealers who describe cars well others are out to clearly bend you over, I only buy local to me now and go view first anything else is no longer worth the risk.

RJEauto 18 Posted April 17, 2019 We use DA quite regularly and only ever had one real issue. Got there, asked to drive the car, crunching in 3rd but managed to negotiate £800 reduction and gearbox cost us £350 so ended up better off. Picked up one today (as described) and going to pickup another on Tuesday. Fingers crossed!! Like everything, you have to take it with a pinch of salt. There are good and bad cars on dealer auctions and the same can be said about the dealers on there
NickGCS 14 Posted April 17, 2019 We buy the bulk of our stock from DA, and Sytner. It’s a case of feeling out which sellers are good in our experience! I find both sites much of a much in terms of poor appraisals, probably 1 or 2 in every 10 has been miss-appraised depends what kind of stock you buy as well I’d imagine! metcars 397 Posted April 17, 2019 I'm not a DA person, but just out of interest, once you're a member can you buy and sell or are there additional requirements to be able to sell?
NickGCS 14 Posted April 17, 2019 Supposed to be only franchised dealers that sell, we turned up at one a couple months ago that was more of a prestige specialist though! Car was spot on though so we were happy!

SUPPOSED to be franchised dealers only but Iv'e seen on Sytner that the mechanics/ staff sell their cars on the site if they want too . All a con every where you try really , just got to tread careful

EPV 631 Posted April 19, 2019 Just now, met said: But surely they'd achieve better prices through BCA? Mate have you seen some of the prices cars sell for on DA? A few hundred quid off retail, sometimes! Plus the smaller franchises probably don’t get the selling fees waived by bigger AH’s so they save those fees. Wheelerdealer1 91 Posted April 19, 2019 maybe we need a separate thread for which DA and Sytner dealers to avoid, I can safely say I will never bid on any Sytner cars based at ANY wales dealer

DA are just a platform aren’t they If all the supplying dealers on DA have a 'reserve' then they probably don't care where it's sold and to whom? DA could still administer the whole deal and use their size to get a good deal from the auction houses (low fees, free collection etc). Plus it must be hugely faster to turn them around, rather than have to deal with hairy arsed traders turning up at the lot 'kicking off' in front of customers? It must be worth it when you look at the likes of the Holdcroft set up, literally a purpose built set up for the whole groups stock! They do it right as well, cars washed to appraise properly and fairly in our experience
andymc1973 199 Posted May 29, 2019 guys, won a duffer and didn't proceed as the car was shagged, does the vendor have to cancel to get my fees back? cheers
CRW 73 Posted May 29, 2019 I think if you contact DA and tell them, they will usually clarify with the vendor and fees will be refunded. Just out of curiosity, what was the duffer and where was it from? Save somebody else getting burnt!
