We'll get food and water. (And no it wont be £50 for a litre of water or £80 for bread. EU needs the UK e.g. our security services are better than the rest. Everytime France has a terror issue its our boys in blue that help out, the French are useless).

People in war torn countries dont get food or water.

Not fussed at all about brexit.

Hand to mouth at the moment so couldn't care less if i be rich or not. And am sure most of you lot have a good bank balance. Enjoy the wealth whilst you got health or you might be like Lucas' trainer coughing blood at 75 whilst running a car lot. 

That's what Teresa May and co want from you...so they can get a massive inheritance tax off you when you die. 

Don't want to sound like a moan bag but it's true.

When I say cheap, I meant undervalued. For property and cars, from those liquidating assets quickly to cover their bills in the absence of employment or credit. Recessions create opportunities for those places to take advantage, the old adage of money makes money will very much apply.

Where there is a boom there will always be a bust. For us peasants  who don't have such booms then house prices will more or less stay the same, as will everything else.

I’m old enough to remember the real recessions of the early 80’s and early 90’s when people just handed the keys in on their houses as they couldnt pay their mortgages and were heavily in negative equity. economies run on confidence (and in reply to another thread) loss of confidence causes recessions.

No deal will be the mother of recessions as it will kill confidence (what’s left of it). 

I’m in the south east and trades still busy (those who haven’t retired, it’s a great career option that few seem to pursue) so far but seeing redundancies piling up. 5 friends in 5 weeks and these are long term senior jobs, not call centre work.

time to pay down debts and be in cash to take up buying opportunities. 

I'm also old enough to remember those times too, and I remember many friends losing their businesses because the banks called in the overdrafts in a panic?

LOL, I recounted that tale to cheer this doom and gloom, as I said earlier I will earn well out of the motor Trade whatever happens with Brexit, but i don't know exactly how yet.

Someone said earlier that guys on the dole won't be able to afford Cars, my thinking is they will be the ones getting Doss Office Loans etc to buy a good used car to cart around the 7 kids and big fat wifey !!

I also agree with the comment that folks uncertainty will stop them signing up for Loans and PCP's etc, so the decent 5 - 10k used cars will be in demand, which is the stuff I'm selling these days.

Those that can't afford another Car will need to keep their existing vehicles running so repairs will be on the up !!

On the flip side of Nick's 50p, if the UK economy booms then we'll all be selling 3 year old Cars and Servicing and Repairing them .................

As far as I'm concerned it's win win "I'll be laughing all the way to the Leeds" well "the Santander" 

I was actually pondering whether to build a huge Workshop with Paint Booth on a plot we have and didn't really fancy another 12 month project, but if it goes how I think it will I might do that and take on a couple of staff, have 10 more years, then sell up and piss off somewhere hot

I dont feel we have much control on what is going on there right now and many people regardless of how they voted feel dissapointed.

There was something in the news about 75mln fees for some consulting fees in secret contracts. I only wonder how much more they spent without telling the public.

Brexit was never an issue if done properly but the idea of trusting the politicians to deliver it was. I wouldn’t trust Boris Johnson to do my shopping, let alone negotiate exit from the EU.

in terms of real world negotiating and planning experience, there is more of that in the members of this forum than the entire House of Commons, many of whom have never had a proper job, let alone a commercial one.

Was doing the same thing Dave , Plugging em in for £40 when customer was there , or park it round back and hand certificate out when they got back , Thank you that's £40 and your cars fine . Remember one was a Mk1 escort ,trouble plugging that one in , she wanted it checking as her insurance company wanted £90 to cover it  so £40 was good for her  and me .

Brexit is a continuois can of worms. You can't win either way. 

Only way is if UK is split into 2 and leavers live on one side of the border and remainers on other.

Brexit is a mess just gone totally out of hand. There really is no solution, except a second referendum where it's result is 'stay in'

After over two years we are no nearer to a resolution and time is running out, getting an extension is only kicking the can down the road.

There cannot be a hard border between North and Southern Ireland which is the real issue. This WILL not be allowed to happen.

Any person in business should be taking this seriously, it WILL effect us all as the UK economy plunges into recession, multinational manufacturing and services relocate back inside the EU. It's happening already.

In fact it will effect every one. We will need a green card to go on holidays to Spain and a temporary driving permit to drive within the EU. The Euro will cost us more when we holiday abroad and our retired parents living in Tererief will no longer be able to do so 

The list goes on and on and is far reaching and will effect every single sector from manufacturing, farming, haulage, services etc 

Nobody really understands the full effects of Brexit if it does happen, and I for one hope we never do!

I agree with that,I remember when OPEC increased oil prices 400% and the price of big stuff collapsed.So that is what we bought and did very well.We found that the cash punters were happy to buy something they previously only dreamed of because of the low prices.

I always have believed that the recessions we've had in the past just sort out the wheat from the chaff, get rid of the plastic Plumbers, Brickies, Mortgage Brokers, Car Dealers etc etc and then we get a nice little run before the next recession.

The chinese seem to be good at manufacturing. Nobody else can make a profit from selling plastic dog shit like they can. All we need is a workforce 'unhindered' by health and safety, child labour rules and a living wage? In fact lots of uk manufacturing companies have said how health and safety is a barrier to profit so there workforce can expect 'dickensian' working conditions very soon!
