Another fun valuation

Recommended Posts

We get some really oddball cars where we are located, last week an elderly customer rings with a 1990 Mazda 323, g reg, 25k one owner from new, got the flip up lights, 7 stamps in the book, when I looked there wasn’t any similar ones on the net, collected today, needs rear arches painting and an mot, it’s been garaged since her husband passed away in 1999, what’s the retail value???

£2490

See what happens, if you don't ask - you don't get.

We look out for oddball stuff, you can just put a number on it and there will be someone out there who will have it!

Any potential buyer isn't going to find another one.

Tart it up and send to classic car auction with a £1500 reserve.

Hope you get a few nutters fighting over it.

No one here can tell you what that car is worth since no one here has sold one even remotely similar in the last 3-4 years :-)

Try a high price, monitor AT response, then increase or decrease the price accordingly. It’s 30 years old. A classic in most books :-)))

7 stamps for 30 years??? This is one stingy and tight owner :-)

The 2012 Volvo I bought from you had 7 stamps at 27K miles...

Wouldnt say stingy.

If it isnt driven much or from the stats given it is likely it wasnt even switched on often its pointless servicing it to the schedule.

If you do 500 miles in 4 Years no point doing an oil change especially if these 500 were done in one long trip...

Our volvo specialist recommends the timing belt to be changed about 10k later than the recommend date. His business is booming and he knows his stuff.

Stealers no doubt push dates so they can keep milking owners

Haha true!!! but it’s been in the garage since 1999, the old dear apologised for not servicing it whilst it had been stood in the garage.

Not stingy as has 7 stamps from 1990-1999, but obviously will need a good goingover if garaged since 1999! Battery, tyres, belts, brakes the list go on and on and on....

Haha, just finished writing my reply when David posted his response!

GLX was the one that rang the bells for me.....never had one back and prep' was a clean n fluid check, them were the days. B)

Had to be auto I found. Were under-priced but rated by the punters, and I remember good margins from them and quick turn over.

Mind you, I also remember my first modern auto gearbox doom was one of them. Thought a 2nd hard one would suffice. It didn’t.

Well done on moving it on.

I think lots of people believe they are buying investments with anything over 20 years old and sub 50k.  Fiat Coupes, Alfa GTV etc are all on the up but a Mazda 323?

Not a fairground ride I would want to be on when the music stops.

I used to love my 440 turbo. Thought it was great and really quick. Would hate it now no doubt.

If you took the ashtray out, you could get to a small vacuum pipe (I presume) and clamping it off made the turbo over boost and it flew then. Dunno why I thought that was a good idea but I was young and stupid.
