  1. Sorry if I'm just being thick, how did you get all these?
  2. I've made an enquiry about advertising on Gumtree / Ebay, Asked about 10 car package and have been quoted this as a "special deal" 10 car "PLUS" package but I'll get 13, £398 +vat a month, Sign up for 12 months and its £350+vat, Sign up for 18 months and its £320+vat. Judging from some of the comments on here this deal isn't that special?
  3. How did you ask him to leave? Just as you mentioned in the post or did you phrase it differently? I'm only asking as I wish I had the b0770cks to do this, I'm too laid back, comply with everything the customer wants and end up moaning about it after they have gone!
  4. Drop me a pm, sounds like the kind of stuff I'd be interested in.
  5. The error code we have got when we put it on the diagnostic was C2495 I'm none the wiser and would appreciate anyones help! Cheers.
  6. Do you mean Trade Sales in Slough rather than the Great Trade Centre in white city (which is now car giant)? And as for consecutive number plates at places, Well I know Motorpoint buy directly from the used car department at the manufacturer I represent.... and they must buy in bulk because the can retail them for cheaper than I can buy them for!!!
  7. Call me cynical but a newbie asking a question about insurance and another newbie just happens to be able to recommend someone? Maybe I've been in this game too long but hmmmmm!
  8. Recently taken one of these in as a part exchange and considering keeping it as a smoker, Its got the dreaded error message from the SBC unit though. Anyone had any experience of getting the error message removed, reset, or a place to locate a replacement unit? Forums suggest that it can be reset, my local Merc specialist chap suggested going to main dealer and seeing if there is any goodwill available. Not sure about this though as it hasn't got any history. Any suggestions would be appreciated, even if you think the best thing to do would be to get rid and throw it n the ring!
  9. Currently use them and all been very good, Also helps that the account manager is a good bloke and can't do enough to help me. Oh, and he brings me doughnuts - nuff said!
  10. What's the best time period for a classified advert please? Things might have changed on ebay but I used to do 28 days thinking you might as well get the longest time for your money but just seemed to get everyone watching and doing very little until the advert was about to expire. Any help would be appreciated.
  11. Stephen, what part of the country are you in?
  12. Am a franchised dealer and we have our own bodyshop, I have to use them for any prep work and they have just started doing alloy wheel repairs too as another way of having my pants down. I realise that I'll pay somewhat over the odds bit I just feel they are killing me, how do these sound cost wise to you guys..... 2014 VW Polo, Nimbus Grey, was sure it would be a smart repair but they have painted the entire rear bumper, £225 plus vat. 2010 VW Golf, about 5 or 6 hairline cracks under the front headlamp, I think just fill them, sand it down and smart repair, According to them its a poor repair previously and only solution is a new front bumper, £350 plus vat Am I expecting too much for nothing or am I being royally had over?
  13. If you don't mind me asking Arfur, what do you sell? I've seen previously that you work on appointments and was just wondering.
  14. So the trade insurance renewal arrived today and its gone up, It went down last year and I don't think I expected it to go down again but staying the same would have been nice! Anyone got any recommendations?! All suggestions appreciated, thanks
  15. Against my better judgement I sold a 2012 Peugeot 3008 that came in px a couple of months ago, from the moment I took the deposit I was regretting it as it turned out the customer was a right fusspot and demanding this and that. I've bent over backwards for this guy, reconditioned the car to a really high standard, given him a comprehensive warranty for a year, got the wheels done, painted the tailgate after de badging it at his request took the paint off (as I told him it would), done his private plate transfer and refunded him the months tax on his px that the dvla had 'taken from him'. Also delivered it to him over 70 miles away to save him the hassle of collecting it. Oh, and I gave him blood for his part ex too, a Focus CC that has now developed a fault with the roof. Anyway, as you can imagine I didn't make much on the sale but just took the view to get it gone and moved on. He's had it since the end of June and calls me today, says that part of the rear window heater is not working. In his words its because the previous dealer had their sticker on it and me removing it has broken the element. Rest of the window clears fine and he's only just noticed as its been warm weather up until now, what am I going to do about it? I know the regulations and CRA 2015 etc but a large part of me just wants to tell him f#ck off, its a near 6 year old car, the heated rear window is working, get over it! What would you do?
  16. And if they turned up on the Saturday and the car had a short MOT they would have moaned about it or tried to have your pants down on account of it!! They will probably buy a car somewhere else and if they get bad service, ripped off or the car goes wrong, They'll be on the phone to you moaning and wanting your help! That's what I hate about customers!!
  17. Was just wondering those of you on here who have an in house valeter, how long does it take to valet a car? Reason I'm asking is that I think my chap is really slow! On average I'd say it takes him a day and a half to do a car, we don't buy really awful stock that should have some sort of health warning, just average cars that need a normal valet. In other places I have worked the guys we had would knock these out in about 4 hours tops, I think its probably because they were agency and paid by the car rather than on a wage like my guy is. I've tried everything with him but can't get more out of him, admittedly the quality is better than before but I still think he should be quicker. Maybe I'm being unfair to him, I've got a 45 car site and do around 25 a month, do I need more than just him? Any advice appreciated.
  18. Aston Barclay have just had a management buyout including a couple of chaps who worked at other auction groups, lets hope they keep things nice and try to build the business up rather than just doing what BCA and Manheim do and trying to wring every penny out of us.
  19. I think Caleb should have been kicked off for some of the comments he made on the car broker thread, maybe others thought I should have been though!
  20. Well Mat, if we both worked a bit harder and dealt with more brokers, we could have pushed our PLC careers to the limit instead of just taking a pay cheque!!! Who knew??!!
