  1. Ok, so my last comment was a bit flippant but I'll tell you it like it is Caleb. I've worked in the trade for about 20 years now, it's not easy and I've not made a fortune, margins are tight and on the whole, customer expectations are through the roof. So I, along with most of the other people on here, are not really going to fall over ourselves to help you, or indeed take you seriously when it appears you don't even know how much of a cut a broker should take. From what you've said, it sounds like you just want to make some phone calls and take a couple of hundred quid. Where is the added value to the customer or the dealer in that? You've only sold a car that would have sold anyway yet you want to take a cut and move on leaving the dealer to look after the customer and sort out any issues. (And there will be because I can tell you from experience that whenever people get involved in a transaction like you want to, there always are.) If you are going to do this, Surely there should be a hint of client development, customer care and follow up and a bit more long term thinking rather than something to keep you busy whilst Fred puts the double glazing in. I admire your positivity and don't mean to sound harsh, I just get a little hot under the collar with all these people who think selling cars is easy.
  2. Gutted.... I normally have a day off on a Tuesday and go and see my mum, all this time I could have been doing a bit of property developing!!
  3. Many thanks for that Betginge, I have done that and it shows the oil life at 100%, still get a 'service due' showing when you start the car up though? Cheers for your help.
  4. On a slightly different note, anyone know how to re set the service indicators on Insignia's? Have sold one and serviced it but the indicator will not go away. Many thanks
  5. BCA now run the VW remarketing for them, sell all the 6 month to a year ex management and hire cars to the dealers, have done it for the last 6 months or so. Think they do it for Audi too.
  6. I'm arranging finance for a friend of mine who wants to buy a Mercedes CLA from Car Giant (I know, I know, I did try to find him one myself to sell but they seem to have them for cheaper than I can get them trade) Anyway, I'm doing him a favour and saving him money on the 8% flat they have quoted but they have said if he organises finance externally and not through them then they will charge an extra £200!!!! It's sharp practice I know but is it legal??
  7. No, Failed on a tyre and some wiper blades!!!! You can read the interview with the MOT tester and also get the workshop controller's thoughts on the website tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I see on the Car Dealer website that a Mazda dealership has taken on two new sales staff, Is this news?! In other news, A Ford dealership in Surrey has had a Focus in for an MOT and a Citroen dealership in Newcastle has just put some diesel into an 06 plate Picasso!
  9. I normally just browse on here and don't post, Well here's one for you about good old Dealer Auction. I should point out now that this isn't about the money, It's more the principle of things! I was browsing on there the other day and seen a cheapie I fancied, kept an eye on it and made a maximum bid at the closing stages. I watched the auction end and as the countdown finished was the highest bidder, clicked onto the dashboard part of the system to get the dealer details and my winning bid was £61 higher. Now admittedly the higher figure was still below my maximum bid but I'd watched things end and hadn't been outbid. I called DA and they said there was another bid but I'd won as my best bid was higher, I said well why didn't I see it and the system update before the auction ended? We then went round and round in circles for a bit before I was advised to email in, I didn't but then called up and spoke to someone more senior who said that all online auctions can end at different times for people due to internet connections and even ebay have that problem. Well I'm not a great authority on the internet but I've never been outbid on any online auction after the auction has ended! Like I said, It's £61 so not a drama as such, but if I was cynical (and lets face it, After 19 years in the trade I might just be a little bit cynical) who's to say that someone somewhere thought "well his bid was higher than it ended, he was obviously happy to pay a bit more so lets increase the winning bid so the garage we are selling it for think we are great?" I did say this to the chap but he insisted that would never happen, Oh and he gave me a dig as well at the time about not getting in touch with the selling dealer! I've been a member on there since pretty much the start, I've mainly bought cheap stuff and the cars have been okay, I've only had one where I was a bit fed up but still bought it and took it away, The description told me it had a 2" scratch on the bumper but forgot to mention it didn't have a radio or most of the exhaust! Never bought another car from that garage again!
