^^ THIS ^^ Just because of this new vaccine news yesterday the phone has started ringing from non repeat/regular buyers we don't know - bloody idiots acting out like it's changed something. They haven't even achieved mass testing yet, best case scenario for any semblance of 'normality' and unfettered overseas travel etc must be at least 6 months, at best. Then we'll get hit with a wealth tax since they've pissed away so much on dumb schemes and keeping non viable businesses alive on our dollar.

Just read this in it's entirety and agree you potentially have an uphill battle with a car sold ~ 4 years ago; BCA Mercedes Assured sale with warrantied mileage or not. trade vet makes a good point and FWIW I'll just add something I used some years ago related to the 2nd key on a BMW. Bit of a long shot, but assuming you have original keys, has has the car had a primary key and the spare kept separately? My wife never uses the second key/s and they're always left in the utility room key cupboard key safe, just in case she blocks another motor or we need to get cars moved around. That key may hold beneficial data, dependent on the car year; insurance companies have caught out a fair few moody stolen/recovereds based on key data - maybe worth a punt?

Speedyreg are cheaper on fleabay than their own site @ £30 + £80 fee = £110 I quoted - the ones ending with an 0 look a bit better, or sometimes a 5.

Yes it possibly does/can - in the same was that cash now gets a mark against it, transferred sums over a (I think) it's now as little as £20,000 can get flagged, I think. The more difficult part, if you have multiple personal a/c's, then moving even as little as £23,000 gets a load of questions, certainly from LLoyds, as I've just been interrogated, even though I was only sending to another personal of my own a/c's. -
If you're going ahead, then maybe consider something like this camera over the taylors dummy / silent salesman: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B088CZSKBL/ref=dp_prsubs_1 I have a camera set-up vaguely similar to that in our prep unit - so I can see what's going on and who's not there etc. TBH I never seriously thought about much communicating with it; except as an occasional piss take, but that noise/speaking facility is on the mobile app I have connected to my system, and for you, just one camera would suffice; all you need to say is hang on for 5 minutes and I'll be there with you - and then you can turn up and start working said victim..........

I'd suggest to keep it as a facelift for any 'special' future car you get where the year is best hidden - no value for initials or a name. Regtransfers advertised prices are pretty meaningless for accurate guidance TBH, I bought direct some of the MLZ's when DVLA first released them and sold the last in August/September - all Chinese buyers - so those with good initial combos are worth a retail punt, or even ebay where they're mostly clueless. Number buyers aim to buy at between 33 - 45% of retail, not unfair given many can take several years to sell for proper money, so I'd suggest just keeping it. In either event, you can easily buy reasonable 3x4 Irish plates for £30, £110 incl the £80 fee for other cars 'facelift' need/s.

THIS. If I had problem in the past shifting a car, I have increased the price a bit; that seemed to provoke online people who had looked and remembered and were on the edge with mine and others similar to make contact, complain about the price increase increase and offer the original price - win - win.

Absolutely; customer/s buying profiles will likely change going forward, but as you say up there, the positive is peoples need to buy cars is something which will never change, except, maybe, to some extent the regularity of replacement/s.

Better/safer those than Maccy D's when 1/2 price in August, me and my boy took the longer route back from the unit for a quick 'bargain bite' and it was heaving with people; we took one look and left, never saw a better way of spreading illness. Never usually touch that cr@p anyway, so no loss. They must of had a hard time this year, I hope they all survived - at least our nearest one has which is handy sometimes.

Not in my experience; in fact the reverse. I've often put an NI plate for my customers who don't want a year letter, then they often want it moved to the next car; it only costs £110 as long as you don't buy from DVLA.

I haven't got the time/interest to view your prior posts; but are you a used car dealer, albeit part time - or just buying the one car. If the latter, what on earth information do you expect people who are full time traders, have spent decades in cases learning the hard way, and far more importantly have gone through a damn hard time for 3 months of this year and are now trying to make back some money?? That could be construed as a threat; so is your actual occupation a hacker then ?? @Casper Thank you Casper, I don't want to dwell on it on account of losing both my baby sister, aged 55, now almost 4 years ago and latterly my youngest daughter, as I mentioned before, so your comment/s are very much appreciated but sadly it's probably best for me to keep busy/occupied and drop the topic

Indeed; saw an early '14 RR Sport 3.0 derv, but at least an L494, end at an auction at (including my estimated fees) £28,285 - 50k miles & really nice spec admittedly and I know some nice ones are now on offer north of £30k, but bought 100% blind, as this auction was, that was a bit too rich for my blood........ So we're currently dragging out all the old trade in's left outside behind the unit which we never bothered with, as their actual cost was so small, plus all potentially needing a good "look at" for potential issues. After I've checked if their viable or not, my lad is valeting the hell out of them, which was not worth doing before, for their sale value back then. Sorted out a power steering fluid leak on one today, everything else was OK as far as a 13 year old car goes and drove it hard taking a long, 20 mile 'scenic route' on some lovely country roads for some assurance for the MOT and it didn't even get any advisories!! Come tomorrow, rinse and repeat - just got to keep the wife away from him when valeting them - got home from Tuesday MOT and she was helping him as a kind of therapy, I suspect, as currently she's on a 6 week course of radiation treatment - and she was trying to help him by 'doing' the engine crud with bloody oven cleaner, none too carefully either ........

Jeez - do you have to have them valeted again after ...... But back to topic, rather annoyingly, you now have to start to add E30 BMW M3 & similar, in fact almost any potential 80/90's 'modern classics' to the list; although I don't imagine that fits many of your stock profiles.

The business owner nearest there I know is in Nottingham (still trying to "solve" [ like many others ] MB FSB4 code/read/write/create etc!!) and he said it's not worth him sending one of his vans ~ 80 miles for one job on an old car like that when he has more lucrative fleet contracts.

Thanks for the offer Rory, but I don't have any such problem/s; all cars I buy are added to MID on the day of purchase, so if so needed, I can tax them without any problem. Get me 2 missing V5's back from DVLA - now that would be worth a decent fee Later - I just fully re-read what you actually said - and will bear it in mind for the future, it's currently a changing feast.......

Because I believe technically you should have insurance in order to tax a car under CIE law; although that's for the public of course - maybe they can, but my understanding is there's an automatic MID check on tax application, plus the MIB is auto synchronised with MID via the DVLA - maybe something has changed and I'm wrong though......... .

Result - if there is one thing I hate it's people lying to me; if they're having a tough time, and it can happen to the best of us at times; I can be pretty understanding if they're honest and up front - but the way far too many people are today is one of the few things which make me bloody angry. I've got a big old infra red lamp we used when we did bodywork in house - cost quite a lot, now a guy from Luton who my ex mechanic told about it phoned and made me an offer on it, I sent him some photos of it and said I would not clean it up and/or even get it out from the back unless he sent me a non refundable £100 by bank transfer and gave him the sort code and a/c # - but he kept on saying he had cash, all the usual - and I thought that was it. Now I've got a text this afternoon asking for the postcode, so I sent one back saying he had to pay the 100 quid first - bugger me, he replied saying he'd paid and much to my surprise when I logged into that bank a/c - he had ....... Now me and my lad have got to move a bunch of cars tomorrow to make a pathway big enough to wheel the damn thing through, I think the arms on each side adjust, but it still must be about 6ft wide, so it's going to be a real b@lls ache of a job for not much money - I suppose at least it will give us some more storage space in what was the booth, but I'm fully expecting him to start a re-negotiation once he arrives, but if he does, he's lost his hundred quid ...........

Yep, I don't envy you that sort of work, but I hope they're better than what's below!! I know I'm a fool and it's bloody stupid, but the last S Class I really liked the shape of was the old W220, I first had an S55, then an S65, both of which I kept due to their low values despite both being in the 50k mile bracket, plus the pleasure I got and still get from using them - but if I ever leave them standing any length of time, there's always a light/more needs dealing with!!

@Marian TDM Last year I had to pay 2400£ with bollington as part time trader from home and 10k max value. This year DNA insuance quoted me 1400£ when bollington is asking 2k. ============= That £1400 sounds like a nice reduction, is the max value still £10k ? The problem I get is that I store most of the cars in the unit we prep them in and bring them back to my home for viewing once they're ready, mostly now 'by appointment' viewings when any buyer unknown to me asks to see/buy a car. I'm currently with Aston Lark, who started out very competitive, but last year made a lot of fuss saying that cars were only insured at my business premises, so the cost took quite a hike. Unfortunately I'd left it too late to start speaking to others, but in when my renewal comes up in January, I'll certainly spend more time shopping around.
