  1. It's common on eBay on to put up trade sale etc These guys want to have their cake and eat it, sell at retail price, act like its a trade to trade sale
  2. The website is also viewable to the public, not good IMO
  3. Back to what Chris was saying, the vids is a great idea, the guys at Rybook trade have some great vids to go with the auction One point to note though, they are all on tube as that's what they use, and all vids can be accessed by any joe public, surely a private account with another uploader would be better?
  4. Link posted on pistonheads a while back, plus points it works very very well on mobile, it's fast
  5. Hi Andy Car giant are a real success story round here, if you google them online there are lots of stories about bad customer service, does it put the punters off ? Hell no! Every other car round here has a car giant emblem On the face of it, unpreped cars, high finance charges, bad after sales service, but it's done them no harm due to the perception from the public that the cars they stock are very very cheap, which they aren't of course. But respect where respect is due.
  6. Might sound crazy, but we now answer the phones upto 10pm, and I also do very viewings til late over the weekend, most people are now working weekends until 5 pm so are very happy to be able to come see a car late on a weekend so it's a good thing to offer The only one word if caution is that I try to really sus the customer out on the phone before suing a late viewing, as although it is rare things can go pear shaped
  7. If only my friend, I wouldn't be flogging motors for a living, I would be enjoying them !
  8. Demand is up, but the choice is far greater in London so key to a sale is prep, as for enforcement using ANPR out here, it's easy pickings for police and dvla alike, just a way of generating income rather then anything else I think Getting stopped is a real nightmare though , no common sense from the police and mostly no understanding of how things work in the trade Especially trade insurance, but that's another discussion I think
  9. Whatsapp is also very data hungry
  10. Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'm not signed up to dealer auction or sytner yet, that's on my to do list for next week. A4u are great and I've been on there for a few years, only been stung twice on there both times from the Oldham branch, which I noticed were very lazy with there descriptions, this has changed now though, I'm guessing I wasn't the only trader to complain about that one! Overall great though. BCA have much of the market cornered but it seems every man and his dog are after the same car which annoyingly can push prices up, private buyers are not even bring put off by high fees, I'm on the higher card so lower fees help of course ATM I'm losing the love for it, I've had 3 traders come and reject cars from me for frankly silly reasons, one didn't like the colour! And it's pricey
  11. So correct guys, and don't get me started on these shows like benefit street etc, just goes to show how certain sections of society have just made this benefits culture a way of life, makes me wonder sometimes why I bother to get up in morning when it could easily be handed to me on a plate
  12. And no change in the fact that only motor traders who register the car in the company name ( thus adding another owner ! ) can reclaim car tax refunds ! Frustrating ! I often lend out stick cars to customers or family etc when needed, I guess to do this now I will have to use the v5 c to tax the car and then come sale time kiss goodbye to a refund unless I register the car again in my name, what a mess
  13. Green giant you have shattered my hopes and dreams To be fair the ANPR police and also the dvla vans are a regular site where we are based in west London, plus I think the dvla clampers are private guys working under dvla so very very keen to clamp untaxed cars. I see one almost everyday, I even bizzarley saw an untaxed car clamped in someone's drive! Hopefully they start clamping these road side trader cars aswell ! I hope!
  14. Can we find out if only the registered keeper get the tax refund as is the case now?
  15. Thanks Andy, but my guess is that most street traders will be less likely to tax as the tax won't go to the next owner, and they won't be able to claim a refund unless they become the registered owner
  16. Is that really the advice coming out? To use trade plates for all movements ? That really stinks, we only have one set and it was hard enough to get those will the interviews and other nonsense proof to provide, not to mention the cost of course ! I agree with green, leave it as is, but I suspect it's too late now
  17. Firstly I'm not talking down ATM they are excellent and when we first started our business invaluable However I'm finding its slowing down a bit these days, very hard to source a car, by the time I have done background with a customer the car is gone ! As for selling a car, I last sold a car on there about 6 months ago! So what are the other alternatives out there, any recommendations for buying or selling trade cars? Apart from BCA of course !
  18. Thinking out loud here, but any thoughts appreciated Will the road side delboy traders finally be finished off with the new car tax laws? I must say I hope so ! Most survive buy taxing the car using the new keeper slip and sticking it out on the street whilst advertised, as this is no longer the case I'm guessing they won't be forking out on premises
  19. Are there any plans to Change the trade plate system? If so when? And what sort of changes are they looking at carrying out to it
  20. I have to agree, we do have eBay and general internet boom to blame, that's even for private sellers asking top dollar for their car both in Px or as a private sale. I'm sure this has contributed to the increased rise of used cars
  21. I think us used car dealers should be very worried, this new hand back system is open to abuse, and I'm afraid it's the honest dealers that will get that abuse. The delboys will carry on as usual and this won't bother them one bit!
