The tomcat, remember drooling over it in the car mags I would buy on the way to school, must be getting rare now
-
One plus point is that the rouge traders are more often now getting reported, hence I have the pleasure of passing clamped cars today !

I agree with metcars, if I'm selling a Clio for example, mine will be amongst the most expensive , why, because it's been prepped properly, hence I won't get a call at all in the first few days Then I get to hear the sob stories from customers who went to see the cheaper cars and how terrible they were! Well what do they expect, you get what you pay for

Looks fantastic just get the wheels painted and some decals and your onto a winner IMO

So true Gavin, I'm a petrol head first which is why I got into selling cars in the first place
-
Not that I would of course !

Sounds like they are encouraging naughtiness, like not yellow slipping Px cars
-
Not suprised ! Tax discs are set to be abolished in less than six weeks’ time, but half of all UK drivers are completely oblivious to the changes, according to a new study. http://dailym.ai/1vFvb2e

Just to put things in perspective I spent over an hour the other day with a lovely old couple who were buying a car for their grandson. However they wanted to do an online payment, never done it before ! And not great on the PC either, we got through it, put it's a painful process with a certain type if customer. Yes of course I'm happy to help, they are buying a car from me, but it's another hurdle to work into the sale process, and makes it time consuming. So I'm doing more work, but then I'm losing the benefit of taking a taxed car in, and that's money out my pocket. So the dvla take but so far do not give us anything back in return

What camera do you use for taking car shots?

iPhone 5s and even my iPad 3 is good, down load an app called HDR, works wonders -
My point exactly Chris, we are a small operation and when I'm alone no doubt I WILL lose customers due to the longer time spent taxing the car with the customer
-
My pleasure !

I'm sure the yellow slip will still exist, how else will they know where to send the fines !
-
Deffo more admin time, you will now have to sit the customer down in front of a PC, fill out the online thingy, add card num etc etc, imagine doing all this with an elderly customer or someone not so confident, your in for a long process. Add into that the customer will want us to pay !

I see what your saying green, but I think James did well considering, it's a bit like PMs question time , you have to read between it Digital v5 will be a good thing I think, but for him to say sitting down with the customer to buy tax should be part of any GOOD sales process shows he doesn't understand the nature of our business

Thanks for using my comments on page 7 and the dvla Q and A ! I might have to frame it for the office !

I was a teacher in my previous life, for my sins! And we wouldn't be back until the last week of Aug for prepping for first week of Sept, I imagine that's why it picks up during end of Aug as the hols come to an end -
Panic over it's arrived !
-
Not had mine either James

😂😂😂brilliant !

It's crazy really is, but the refund will go back to the last registered keeper they say, let's see how that works in practice As traders we should have been given somthing back , either abolish trade plates and let traders drive untaxed while the car is in trade, or exempt us altogether from having to sorn therefore taking away the fear of fines for untaxed cars sitting in dealer compounds
