  1. Your right there, some customers come in to px as they simply can't be bothered with the hassle of selling privately, just to many scammers etc out there
  2. I had a tuned R5 GT and the thing went like a missle, very fragile though
  3. Apparently soon watches will be "the in thing"
  4. I'm dreading that, I guess we will have no choice but to register any car we using as a runabout, or tax it knowing we won't get refunded, hence keeping it for at least 6 months, unlikely though!
  5. Thanks for posting Gavin, I love working on the oily bits but I couldn't do it for a living, I'm to slow for starters! My MG midget is now on its third year off road !
  6. Honest and auction just doesn't go together, that's why I always bid online allowing room for those bits of left out costs Been caught out recently online on a BMW 3 series, looks like it's been resprayed at some point, how they missed that I will never know
  7. Well I knew the bloke who owned the Yellow renualt 5 turbo made famous by Ali G Awesome ðŸ‘
  8. Why do people queue up all night for the new iPhone ? To be the first, as to be second is to be the first of the losers ðŸ‘
  9. I like the idea I must say, maybe with the practicalities worked out you could be on to a winning idea. If it's made clear that the private buyer must take the car to the winning dealer himself for a final appraisal before payment is made, that will encourage them to be more honest in the description perhaps, WBAC very rarely pay the internet quoted buying price don't forget
  10. Snap on do a good range, and reasonable on the monthlys with good support from the local rep, we use the D7. It covers most but not all as mentioned, but it windows based and very easy to use, even has a testing and trouble shooting guide built in, very helpful and step by step etc
  11. Thanks for taking the time to post it CJ, it's funny how petrol is in the genes sometimes and is actually passed on sometimes, I too have my elder relatives to thank, all petrolheads either in the trade or just plain enthusiasts Moral of your story CJ , hard works pays and never give up
  12. Agree with Andy, some cars are just off loaded problem cars, then the trade to trade is just a way for some to sell at close to cap clean, only to hide faults, although to be fair I have rejected a few cars with only a wasted petrol bill to pay
  13. I think it's the main pain of all this ! That and every car taken in will be auto untaxed as it were, and WE are responsible for making sure dvla are notified
  14. I have an e class hybrid on test right now, the technology is very impressive, and with 3000 miles on the clock it works perfectly, but in a 100k plus in 10 years, I just don't know, and it lists at £50k, so the depreciation will be massive on top
  15. GG I can't wait to hear your story about what you did prior to trading , please add to my thread !
  16. Ha ha that's great ! Well it's nice to see we came into the business with a passion, it was scary a few years back packing in the FT job with a decent wage but all in all I wouldn't have it any other way. Can't wait to hear the stories from other members
  17. It's an American thing, anyone here watch chasing classic cars ?
  18. Around here if I parked up with my trade plate hanging off the back it would be gone quicker then it takes to park the car !
  19. And that's the reason why I'm all in favour for tougher laws governing who can and cannot call themselves a trader, it might our life a bit difficult, but worth the hassle to get rid of or at least reduce the Del Boy traders !
  20. Just being a bit nosy really, my own background is IT, I did my degree in computing, I've then been teaching the same for the last 7-8 years, but I've moved into a position to get my self into the trade due to my passion for cars I was initially working my day Job mon-fri then on sat and sun was working for a big car dealer in my area I was doing the weekends mainly to stay around cars, I didn't really need that income, and I enjoyed every second of it, getting behind the wheel of most new cars, sports and prestige etc, great times !
  21. It seems to be more the way forward on the classics as most go abroad, a quick vid of the engine running etc sent through viber or Whatsapp is usually requested Haven't had much request for it on the modern stuff, but I don't think customers know a video can be made available and how easy it is, once more dealers offer it then in turn I think more customers will ask for a vid. As with the good picture debate I think the vids on my Iphone come out quite will, easy to compress for send etc The iPhone 6 out next month will have an even better camera, so these things are only going to get easier to produce
