Hey James, have you heard from Mr Glasses? -
“Wear a mask, you’ll be fine, but sign here” so even though in reality to do your job effectively (and receive a salary) you can’t be safe, If you get ill it’s your fault because we told you to wear a mask?

Has anyone read what the chancellor had to say in The Times this morning?

The government are going to turn off the money tap. So go back to work risking your health or stay home and starve?

Back in those days Ferrari and Lambo were horrifically unreliable. They were meant to be parked up and stared at not driven. -

You’ve done a better job than HMG?

Although my question was rhetorical these are my thoughts too I can’t help thinking that there are going to be huge chunks of the population returning to work from lockdown scared of public transport and looking at purchasing a cheap used car not a new/nearly new one? But for those of us that purchase our stock at auction, how can we do that without playing Russian roulette with BCA descriptions? its going to be an issue. Guys like me sell cars to ordinary low paid workers to get them to work not so there wives can showboat for the neighbours. Who gives s crap about contactless selling if I can’t source my stock?

I can’t see being able to get back to the block in the near future? As I understand it any sort of ‘vaccine’ is a year away and even then they have found various strains of the virus as it mutates. Testing is great but only indicates if you have either had it or currently have symptoms. You won’t get immunity by having a test?

The ‘nice’ guys know when they’re not wanted, you reap what you sow?

I find that the Romanians and Albanians are the worst. It’s how their society functions. They are used to bartering like gypsies “horse trading” for everything? The Polish are more sophisticated, way better educated too. Russians schools are excellent. You’re are better off buying a categorised repaired car from a straight auction, where you can not only examine it closely but not buy a car ‘bullied up’ for sale to deceive. I had a mate who made a killing buying up well-repaired cars with previous accident damage. For most cars the trade don’t want to know and someone has done the hard work for you. He used to say “buy smarter not harder”?

True, but most come here to make money then return home. In my area of east London you can rent a small 3bed house for around £1300 a month. Eastern European’s will rent as a group so two or three couples sharing the rent, which makes it much more affordable. Especially when you remember they won’t be burdened with kids or elderly parents. They work hard like dogs for a few years, live as cheaply as they can, then return home with their ‘pile’ to live a cheaper life? I remember back in the ‘80s when London was full of Irish (working in IT) and Aussies (hospitality) doing the same thing? The Polish people I sell cars to are great, they are hugely knowledgable and no nonsense payers. I don’t think they are as focused on ‘beating the system’ and exploiting loopholes as much as some minority groups round these parts?
-
Be careful though, don’t confuse enthusiasm with suicidal self-confidence? As much as I agree with the ability of Polish guys, when you look at the state of the majority of cars in Eastern Europe it explains why good mechanics need to travel to Europe to find work?

....... on the plus side the air is cleaner? But now we are free to “make our own rules”. So our air can be as dangerous and toxic as we demand! Yah!

And let’s hope that ‘new skill’ isn’t buying ‘cheap’, as what happened in the last recession when the big guys desperate to sell anything put the prices through the roof at the block?
