  1. It’s strange times we live in. Surprisingly how many emails and calls I’m having from people asking if I’ll open to sell them a car... scary how many people are willing to ignore the lockdown and risk lives. hopefully we all come back from this, I will be negotiating the rent on my showroom soon as I can’t justify the costs while it sits empty
  2. I absolutely will not use PayPal, I have also had them hold on to funds in the past. Target for scammers too
  3. I’ve had a gent pull out of a deal on a van, forfeiting his deposit. Plenty of people bidding me 50% of the value of a car and that’s all really.. I’m still staying open until I’m told to close, use the time to do some painting etc
  4. I genuinely think the younger market look on eBay/facebox over AT.. although I refuse to use FB as it’s the worst platform for timewasters in my experience
  5. I also ditched AT a year ago and I’ve actually done more business this year just using motors/eBay
  6. I had this on a 2012 308 that came out of bca... turned out to be ecu
  7. If you get this hooked to diagnostics you can relearn the clutch pack to the box. They need doing with wear. I ran a 3.0 tdi s tropic for 40,000 miles and had to have this done
  8. I wish had time for anything else! My showrooms open 6 days
  9. I got rid of AT months back absolute rip off.. replaced with eBay motors package and Motors for less than half for both and easily doing the same amount of cars as last year
  10. Prawn cracker too?? Thank you. I actually live on a old farm in mid Devon.. make the hour commute each day for the catchment area
  11. Ha true, I don’t know why I just love the bangers and the profit margin they bring. I use lawgistics and there pdi forms etc makes it a little easier to get out of false claims
  12. I find the best method of buying private peoples cars is a sign outside saying we buy cars. Works for me although most of my stuff comes from eBay and BCA
  13. I wouldn’t take offence anyway, always happy to hear other people’s views. Ive been trading for 10 years now. 4 years from a compound while I ran a mot station, 4 years at a smaller site and now 2 years at the forecourt and showroom I currently have. With the more expensive stuff I stock I tend to buy older 996’s Mercedes SLs and even have a 1969 E type at the moment so I’m open to buying all sorts just seem to of had a easier ride with the cheapies recently.
  14. I agree that the general buyer of bangers proves more of a headache then that of a higher clientele, however I find profit margins and turnover better with that market. Horses for courses I suppose.
  15. Thank you, I have a small unit with a ramp and a mechanic who preps sales stuff and covers warranty work. Keeps the cost down. We get some headaches but in general people are happy. Hi Tom Highbridge.. land of opportunity ha Thank you
  16. I have BCA 2 mins up the road, that occupies 2 mornings a week. Have a lad to do all the running around, I clean inbetween viewings etc
  17. Hi ive been reading the forum for a long time and have finally decided to join. I have a car sales place in Somerset, mainly selling lower end 1-5k cars on the forecourt and dealing with the odd classic porches, e type jag etc in the showroom. I hope to be able to assist others as well as pick your brains!!
  18. You can buy the parts of eBay I’ve done a few. Not to hard either just need patience
  19. We use a rotary for heavy defects but for beginners I’d recommend a twin head polisher like Autosmart’s one.. we actually use a cheap copy from eBay for half the price but it’s dual action so hard to mess it up!
  20. Another shout for a numatic George, Autosmart g101 or brisk with a scrubbing brush and a plastic sponge is all you need
  21. I clean all mine myself, as said earlier in the thread a few of us where valeters to start with. I stock 25 at my showroom and clean them as they arrive. Much cheaper
