  1. One i know off Brand new defender straight out the factory at landrover by time it had done 800 miles fault code three times and engine light turned out an electric connecter had came loose then a fixing clip the owner fixed it himself in the end after landrover and landrover assist weren't much help

Mallard Finance do older classics too 01206 243100

They are brokers , think you have the be FCA approved to deal with them . But real easy to work with and competitive too .

If i didn't use Moto Novo and Close I would give them more business but its the speed of the prop I go for , next day or two hours later  isn't soon enough .

Iv'e used them for a couple of weird sales like an old Rover 2000 for a guy , worked well there .

Rover 2000 there a blast from the past mind my dad saying he owned 3 of them and and a mrk 2 jag

  3. Some of the attitudes have been terrible even when following there guidelines

or local vet up until a few days  ago where only doing emergency appointments which is five time the price of a normal one surely they could simply collect the dog from the car park at scheduled times by using an extending  leash and ppe without the owner having to even enter obv depending on temperament of dog etc

what amazes me is when your being polite to auction staff etc wait your turn not given them grief etc they go out there way to rude the office staff etc are decent I found it more the mangers and yard staff and yes you've guess it due to covid how exactly does it affect manners  .

  4. Wbac also wont but a car in your own name that you haven't owned for 3 months or they didn't a few years back got talking to  an  acquaintance in the pub one night he had audi which he bought for himself and registered in is name and address and  the engine management light came on a few week later he ended up sticking through the auction and loss a bit on it ..

as for the fuel thing never have any right nor reason to it or the car temperature in photos

even some of the cars ive sold at auction some times they had half a tank quarter a tank or full three quarter etc

sometimes if they were decent enough but older or ruffer than usual standard we would use them to smoke around in to use the fuel

as the other said some times in life and in this business you have take chances

in the wise words of del boy he who dares wins rodney

  5. Dont normally buy pendragon stuff but took a punt on a stop gap vectra diesel 3 years ago in person at the auction for under a grand for a Friend as as stop gap not really something id buy for stock turns out it was owned by a father and then and son or vice versa same address on the log book b5 . 3 years later its still going strong apart for basic servicing and brakes etc its never let him down we took it a six hour round trip last year and it never missed a beat good pendragon stuff is rare I agree although i guess some good older trade in must slip through the net rarely although i do mean rarely comes with experience i guess .

Another vote for Ashley good lad very helpful so is @John Cook - Aston Lark Very helpful both worth a shot

I've used think insurance and never had any problems with them a few times though a few here have said negative things and also towergate who were slightly more expensive but seemed to offer a better level of cover ..

Most law abiding, honest, educated and decent people reading that article will side with the complainant.I am sorry to say the way I read it,she could be pulling a scam. What are the chances that the complainant qualifies for a £60 per week Mobility Allowance .So instead of getting a free new Motability car and returning it after 3 years, by blaming the salesman this one could be hoping to end up owning the car after 3 years when it will be worth 5 grand.......Why do I automatically think like that,it must be the result of over 50 years in the job.

+1 always read the small print before signing anything am sure the balloon payment for the pcp would have been in the figures

another thing I've briefly though of is motability cars  ive a few friends have them actually tried to search out one of the last ones but was unlucky in my search and it appeared at arnold a few weeks after its return even considered buying if from them as a personal family car but didn't feel like paying the premium did that once and said id never do it again

however I often  wonder if it would be cheaper using the money from there pip payment to personally lease a car and and pay there own say for talking sake with a deposit up front a new fiesta say could be leased for around £150 a month granted you have to pay your  own and insurance and Maybe maintenance and tyre but if you weren't covering a big mileage it would probably work out cheaper in both cases my friends car had around 16 k at the end of term so well within the 8k per annum on a 3 year and i know one person who pays around £300 a month for a fiesta he says

then though i guess if you used the mobility car to its full potential of the allocated 60000 miles that would be cheaper in the longer guess its horses for courses

I can do better than that heard of someone want to swap a three piece suite once on gumtree many years ago

I remember reading a survey that Mercedes had conducted in the late 90’s or early naughties, the results showed that an A Class customer had higher expectations than an S Class customer.

Have had some corkers over the years a few spring to mind:

    - customer would simply drive into the workshop and grab the 1st mechanic and demand he attended to her car. We banned her eventually under the pretense she was breaking H&S guidelines.

    - Guy who had his airbag deploy in the motorway, we had it towed in and he wouldn’t let us work on it and wanted someone from the manufacturer present when the vehicle was inspected, along with the BBC watchdog etc. Despite my best efforts to tell him for us to inspect the car would not change his legal perspective etc, he was having none of it. So the day finally arrived and we had a throng of people, cameras, manufactures representatives etc, so we put the car on the ramp and once high enough in the air there was a large tear in the chassis where he had hit something. With the noise from the impact and airbag being almost simultaneous, he didn’t realize he had hit something. His face was a picture, never has “told you so” felt so good.

    - Then we had some woman who had nothing wrong with her car, but clearly decided if she kicked up enough fuss, she would get a new car. So eventually she wants a meeting with me, around 6pm one night, no problem with that, she pitches up with her lawyer in toe. Then says we are not having the loan car back until she gets a new car, I told her under these circumstances I was not having a meeting. Eventually with money changing hands she did get a new car.

    - Another corker was a Guy who had his car in for service and as usual we plug the car concerned into the diagnostics and the factory will download the new software with products enhancements. A few days later he’s back and kicking up an almighty fuss as he likes his radio on a very low volume and with the new software when you turn the car back on, it has a default volume higher than when he turned it off. His meeting with the service manager doesn’t go well and the customer hits him. So he ends up in my office, he apologies for hitting the service manager, he didn’t realize he has saved me a job, lol and explains his issue. Cut a long story short I sympathize  with him and promise I will speak to the manufacturer who I know will do nothing and in a round about way tell him. This guy has the cleanest car I have ever seen and has read the instruction manual back to front. He leaves very unsatisfied, but shook my hand and I thought we had a bit of empathy between us. Anyway an hour or so later he’s back outside my office and waves to be let in, which I do and he asks me if he could buy me lunch at a very nice restaurant. The radio was never mentioned and as he ran a pretty large company we ended up supplying all his cars and trucks.

There have been 100’s so I will bore you with just a few.

  10. Another thing is a customer in a 5k car always seem to be more understanding if a fault develops that we are doing or upmost to repair and get to the bottom off of the fault as opposed to the customer on a £995 part exchange who will come in all guns blazing demanded that there whole car is stripped and rebuild for something like a squeaky glovebox or creaky door ..

I once offered a full refund inc tax before the changes to a customer on  a £1495 car id been using myself for a few weeks as a park anywhere take home at night use to get to work in the morning car

had 150k miles but was basically a sound one owner car all matching Pirelli tyres etc fully stamped history all old mots tax discs and service and repair receipts in nice wallet

but the customer would return daily on the first two occasions we put it through the work shop found no fault but fitted new parts to keep the customer happy then when he thought we were a push over the car was back every day for two weeks

the final straw was when the customer came in said his son didn't like the aftermarket jvc cd player as he couldn't charge his phone from it  that same one that was in there at purchase

    Hi All,

Due to having some time on my hand during covid i decided to have a go at 'flipping' some cars.

In a short space of time i managed to make 2.5k off 3 cars so decided to go 'legit' and have set up a limted company as a part time trader.

I have got premises to store cars (parents farm at the side of the road), appropriate insurance, autotrader trader account, business account, accountant and 2 cars in stock so good to go.

My plan initially is to use autotrader as the paid advertise route and work around getting some of the on facebay/gumtree for free (i am considering ebay motors).

All the cars i stock for now will be low mileage (for age), service history, good mot and be in good condition from the 2 to 4 k mark. This will hopefully minimise any warranty issues but i will be building a 'buffer' for that sceanrio.

I might take some small dividends but the plan is to reinvest any profit into getting to 3/4 cars and increasing the value of the stock. I can be patient as i have a good full time (but flexible job).

So, more of a hello than anything as i have found some of the advise on here useful and look forward to contributing going forward.

However, do feel free to comment on any aspects of my 'plan'.

I do have one question for now (i am sure i will think of more).

Is there an HPI / Vehicle database you can sign up for rather than doing individual checks. I have been paying £9.99 for a full check but tbh havent looked into alternatives as yet?

    Thanks - Johny

All the best to you both welcome to the forum . Good luck with the new ventures

Yes, I wear one out of respect for the wishes of others, I have one in each of our Vehicles so I don't forget it, ;) it just sickens me that there are so many ignorant folks around up here right now !!

Very brave ignorant bastards they are, I actually spent a day in the shop last week dealing with them, not once did I get shopping thrown around or verbal abuse ................

Fuckin cowards, but of course when the ladies are there on their own, these wankers get all brave and think they are clever !!

I've seen the CCTV footage, I know the staff aren't exaggerating, one young lass has already jacked her job ............. Knob Jockeys the lot of 'em :(

Couldn't agree more . Its sad isn't it when someone has to jack there job because of people like that stay safe and well

NYou cant fix stupid comes to mind, i got told off yesterday for not wearing a mask and how her husband has had lung cancer so he has to wear one everywhere, i was soooo tempted but didnt ask why she wasnt wearing one ? they both got in there cars he took his mask off feeling very safe for the protection it afforded him and drove off with his wife feet away from him who hasnt wore one once.

Ive asthma and genuinely exempt but sill wear a snood in the bigger shops and supermarkets thats the reasons I wear it due to people like that mainly and  I guess out of respect for other customers and staff but how was she to know that you didn't also have a medical condition making you exempt like asthma etc

Talking about masks just on the way to collect and a car from down south decided to get on the train, fucking he'll I'm only 20 minutes and and the warm air from my mouth is so annoying I just feel like taking it off:ph34r: hats off to all the drs and nurses who have had to wear this for 12-13 hour shift I tell you they not easy to keep on

Get a snood from eBay Tony best £4 I ever spent  I cant breathe good with they masks due to my asthma but still like the snood for the bigger shops supermarkets and trains and buses .due to members of the public like Justina mentioned .

Regarding Mels shop, yes that is exactly it for Scotland ...........

However, it's all very well for the powers that be to mandate all this shit, but the Cops refuse to Police any of  it :(

Regular Customers to the shop are ignoring all the rules, Tourists are even worse, and when Mel / staff refuse to serve the ass holes, some start throwing their shopping basket and goods around, violent foul mouthed abuse etc ...............

So she bells the cops, they aren't interested, I quote " By the time we get there the perp will be long gone" ................ Errrm wot about the CCTV, Vehicle Reg Numbers etc etc ................... Nope no one can be arsed :(

I can see us closing the shop soon, sick of all this rubbish now, if you can believe some of the nonsense on the news Covid is now spreading again, no wonder really now everyone and his dog is tramping around everywhere including those from overseas. Absolute joke !!

And do the stupid Masks actually do anything ???????????????

A Virus is microscopic, but if I shat my pants with a big old log, whilst wearing thick work trousers plus overalls on, you would still smell it, so I rest my case

Hope Mel is ok Dave Mate its the last thing she and the staff need with what is going on some people have a shocking terrible attitude to people who are only doing there jobs as I mentioned above I'm exempt but still wear a snood out of respect and politeness for another shoppers and staff members . And funnily enough I explained  it in a similar way to you lol .

apologies for wrong section but i cant find the recent topic related too vw transporters, someone was looking for transporters to convert??

a good friend has this for disposal, 10/60 transporter t28 swb van, 1 owner, his from new, no VAT, its in the nice grey, done 68K with full vw history bar last service.

it also has the rear bench seat still new wrapped up never used.

condition- he's uber fussy, the van is mint, you'll not find one like it at auction or elsewhere,

never had paint and needs nothing, the van needs zero prep, simply clean and sell.

no finance, no story's, bid in confidance.

if interested message me a price and i will forward, cheers.
