I had this last year with a Auris I’d had for ages, kept reducing the price and couldn’t shift it, I then took in part exchange a last of the old shape Corolla and marked it up £300 less than the Auris, (the auris was cleaner, 18 months newer and with 15k less miles). I thought it would make the Auris look so cheap. Guess which one I sold first....... the Corolla?!!!!

Its amazing and surprising some times isn't it

We had this a few years ago with a batch of Skodas.  We had 4 with near similar miles but 1 was mint, 2 average and 1 a bit of a dog.  All were advertised within £500 of each other but it was the mint one we got left with.

Same happened to us years ago with 4 smiley transits from a local company at 3 years and 5 years old probably even before autotrader values but unsure

2 minters 1 was ruff and 1 2 years older that was kept due to one of the newer ones being fired damaged and written off

the mechanic got one of the minters the ruff one sold first then the older one and the van the was left for a few months was in my opinion the best one of the 4

guess the public just look at the cheapest price and think wow bargain for a three year old transit thing is it was only about £300 cheaper than than the minter but the boss did him a deal on his old transit i even pointed the customer in the direction of the minter as i knew him and his company but couldn't sway him though i think the boss tried a bit harder to get rid of the ruff van .

I noticed a few of the multivendor ones have an outstanding stocking finance marker on the experian checks on Autotrader. I've bought a few multivendor ones over the last couple of days, collecting next week. He who dares

This time next year we will be millionaires .

Something I’ve noticed at BCA and try to watch is cars going through in dealer groups with a report that’s basically telling you it's knackered on week 1, then going through on week 2 with no report.

I put one through the blocks with BCA days before lockdown and it didn’t make reserve, it’s not on the ‘online only’ multi vendor listings so I called to ask why and had it sold. They told me that they don’t do online only for ‘private sellers’, I’m a platinum card holder so wonder who else’s do they list? Dealer groups listing in multi vendor?

I would argue the point that your not a private seller .

    Thanks @Casper

Hope all is well your side?

Definitely worth it, I always ask the “who do you bank with” question when a customer is about to pay.

The bigger boys (LLOYDS, HSBC, Barclays, Santander etc etc) don’t have time to recall bank transfers.

However it’s the smaller ones, which offer a more “personalised” service, would happily recall it back.

Best practice to avoid letting one of these slip through the net, is to reconcile all the payments each week, and make sure nothing is untowards.

    All good here

I recently had a call from a punter, similarly to you (but his name was not Dean). He stated that he already had delivery in place (without seeing the car) and wanted to pay the full amount via card over the phone.

Politely told him to stick it where the sun don’t shine..... agree with everyone else on here - only take what you can afford to lose over the phone - that is £200 tops

Bank Transfers aren’t as safe as you think either... people can retract them back easily. I’ve noticed this happens with the smaller banks such as (MONZO, FIRST DIRECT ETC).

Welcome to the forum and thanks will keep a mental note of the banks mentioned

Both my parents are in their mid 70’s and I worry, Alzheimer’s and dementia adds a whole extra level!! You do really well, and always sound so positive on here. It must be so hard for everyone especially you and your mum.

My sister helps out and I've a brother and his wife stays with my parents which helps

We’ve had quite a time of it to be honest, my poor mother-in law felt poorly while having cancer treatment and was tested for Coronavirus, long story short she tested positive, was kept in insolation and then a Coronavirus ward for 2 weeks. She was ones of the lucky ones and survived, having said that even now she still gets breathless at times and struggles to walk far. I can’t explain how hard it was for my wife as there is nothing she could do to help and was almost impossible to get information/updates from the hospital staff. I was glad to have the kids around to keep me busy.

I hope that you and your family are all well and surviving this terrible time.

We are getting ther my dad has Alzheimer's and dementia knows there something going on with the virus but not just how serious it off and there in there 70 s so mum although in good health is worried by it

can only imagine how hard it was for your wife. Going through that it hard enough for me not been able to visit relatives and friends

    Thanks for the welcome!

Casper you also sound like a really genuine and warm person!!

I also wonder if the CAP and Glasses guides will both take a similar view of the new market that we will find ourselves in. They have both been starved of so much market data and it will be interesting to see how they both call it.

Thank you . Hope you and your family well

They haven't spoken to us since 2018

It has to be! Gives me an excuse to keep it clean these live shows haha!

He is a great guy. I get very annoyed by people who give him grief. He's the most genuine and lovely person you'll ever meet

You find in life that most people are genuine good people if you treat others how you like to be treated . Reminds me off being in a small local pub years ago and got chatting with a guy and his fiancée who had been in few times bought a round of drinks etc a friend of mine was also in the pub and didn't get along with the guy he was this that and the other and they had had previous arguments and why you talking to that guy he's this and that .anyway turns out the guy I mentioned that I met with his fiancee was to quote @James Baggottone of the most genuine lovely person you could ever meet that was about 10 years ago and the guy has never passed me in the street since always stops for a 5 minute chat etc if I meet him at that shop or supermarket

however the other friend who was putting him down has long since shown his true colours and I never heard a peep from him in years . Even when I went through a spell of ill health
