Can anyone offer any advise on this? Got a 2016 Nissan Juke Nismo, the keyless entry lock/unlock buttons work intermittently on the drivers door an boot. Passenger side works every time, but drivers door and boot only works when it feels like it. Thanks

CDP: How to get set up selling Finance and Stocking Facilities
JDM1983 replied to david gott's topic in General Dealer Chat
Never listened to a podcast in my life, but was interested in the content of this one so had a listen. Ended up listening to several others straight after, and will no doubt listen to the rest in time. Good work David! -
Can’t say I’m surprised, even the website gets the evening off to chill out - sold, transferred or bought a vehicle website closed every day from 7pm to 7am - what possible good reason could there be for that

For those of you into social media, and Facebook particularly, how do you grow your following on there (get page likes)? I see dealers on there with 1,000’s of likes, but just can’t see how you build that in any reasonable timeframe.

Thanks Pete, I’ll have a look

Using this downtime to do my first years accounts, I never imagined what a confusing job it would be. I thought I’d kept decent records in excel, but they just aren’t fit for this purpose. Just wondering if anyone can recommend any accounting software, needs to be something fairly cheap, like an app, as I don’t have pockets for a proper dealer system at the moment. Any recommendations would be appreciated

Does anyone have a template for a sale or return agreement they would mind sharing? If so, please drop me a PM. Thanks James

Unless the car is an insurance write off, why would they know? Traders don’t dismantle every car in stock just to check!

I use Scholl Concepts S30 black, it’s a one step compound so it’s cuts out swirl marks etc, but also leaves a polished finish. It’s a great product, easy to apply, easy to remove, and one pass of the car is good enough - unless your selling top end stuff and need perfection. It’s quite expensive, but you don’t need much per car.

Bought one online from Nottingham this week. Paid at the desk, women said are you ready to collect it now? I said yes and she radioed the guys outside, by the time I got out the car had been pulled up to the gate, and someone handed me the keys! Every time I buy at Blackbush it’s a nightmare to get the car out!

For 420k an hour I’d do a lot of things

These people must be thick as shit, sending architectural plans to car dealers through AutoTrader, if that doesn’t ring a bell what does?

4 cars at a time, selling 10 a month? Manages to find, prep, and sell those 10 cars in spare time? I struggle with 3 a month along side my day job. Either you are superman, or talking shit. I’m guessing it’s the latter

Merry Christmas everyone, have a good one, and if you don’t like Xmas, alcohol is your friend

What sort of sill damage are you talking about. Is this something he could done to the car in his possession?

More valueable advice, thank you

Good pointer, thank you!

This. Trouble I’m having at this time of year though is people phone, but don’t want to come weekdays after work cos it’s dark. Which means it’s predominantly weekends, and those that can’t wait are going elsewhere

I got her a quote for a Parrott fitted, even with that the 1.2 was £500 cheaper than the Ecoboost, go figure.
-
Well, despite my best advice, she went for the Ecoboost over the 1.2, simply because it had Bluetooth

Advice for young person becoming an independent trader

Like you I have a great passion for cars, so in Feb this year I sold my 2017 Focus RS to fund starting this business and follow that passion, as a result of that decision I’m currently driving a....Peugeot 307 CC Like you I’m doing this alongside the day job. I also bought and sold a lot of cars over the years, sometime just changing my personal car, sometimes purely to make a few quid. This time I’ve done it all 100% legit, VAT registered, warranties etc etc, and I have to say it’s a lot harder to turn a decent profit now. Its not all doom and gloom though, I love doing this, love buying, selling and even preparing. It’s a lot slower than I ever thought it would be, I only have 3 cars though so that doesn’t help. Like the others have said, £100k sounds about right before you could get serious momentum doing this. I can honestly see it taking me 5 years or more before I could do this full time, unless things picked up at some point. You do sound like you’ve got a sensible head on you, especially for your age, that will definitely help. Try to see it as a hobby to begin with, enjoy it, keep the day job going and maybe one day this will take over. Good luck with it. -
Thanks for all the advice chaps, took her to see an Ecoboost and a 1.2. Clearly educated her on the Ecoboost issues, so now it’s up-to her to decide. I’m not supplying, just trying to make sure she doesn’t buy a lemon. Did consider it, but thought not worth the ag for a few hundred quid benefit cheers Nick, would have passed her onto you as I know she’d be in good hands, but her budget is £6k.
