  1. Good advice this! A week is nothing. I’m new to this like you and I’m typically finding most my cars are advertised for a month before they sell, however I’ve got one I’ve had since May!!
  2. Am I right in thinking any premises needs to be approved for motor trade use?
  3. Great advice thanks, I will take a look at this. Given the cars has spent the last 3 years garaged, I’m keeping my fingers crossed its not too bad
  4. It’s interesting you say this, after washing the car the other day, I took it out to photograph, and I could hear sloshing water coming from what seemed like the scuttle area!
  5. Got a MK3 Clio RS at the moment on which the boot doesn’t lock. You can open the tailgate no problem, but when the car is locked the boot is still unlocked. Some reading on the web suggests the boot locking mechanism is a common problem, I checked mine and it has power to it, but was broken around the plug area causing it to action the boot opening mechanism randomly as the plug moves. I’ve replaced the part (brand new), however it still doesn’t lock the boot. Any ideas before I throw it in the garage?
  6. I only have 2 cars and Close met me twice to help. In my case, I followed Close advise and filled out to the most basic level possible. My approval came through without any questions asked 3 weeks later. I hope you ticked the boxes for credit brokering, debt councilling and debt adjustment, as a lot of brokers require you to have these
  7. Cheers gents, much appreciated
  8. Thanks all, will give those a try!
  9. Does anyone have a recommendation for someone who can refurb the TT digital dashes, all the better if in the south. Also, any idea on price? Cheers
  10. If I think about it, I have a similar setup. I’ve never really perceived the advantages though, more thought of it as: I don’t seem as professional trading from my home, buyers would rather see a nice commercial premises. I should take a more balanced view!
  11. Do you mean from a customers perspective, and if so, how do you present the benefits of buying from a home trader?
  12. This, and it’s only 3 cars in 3 months to keep it
  13. I would say: 1. I haven’t checked your numbers, but from what you’ve said you’ve paid too much for it. CAP is a guide, but market prices need to be checked too 2. It’s not a good car to sell from home, people spending this sort of money take comfort from a proper premises and full dealer services. If you don’t offer finance, that’s probably a drawback on a car of this value. 3. 3 weeks is nothing, I’ve got one on 4 months with no interest!
  14. At the time when I bought mine, CD5 were the cheapest purpose built trade site I found. You can of course get cheaper with generic website creators, but then you don’t get the same functionality
  15. I’m glad I sought the advice of you guys before getting dragged down this sourcing road. As I said, I made them the £500/1 month offer, and he said sounds good, I’ll let you know, before promptly disappearing of the face of the earth. Could have been a big waste of time, and money!
  16. Thanks all. I went along those lines, and he disappeared, so clearly not so serious after all
  17. I’ve just sold my MX5 this week and now it’s gone the enquiries are coming in faster than ever and I wish I had a couple more! One chap has asked me to source one for him, which in theory I’m happy to do, but not without some commitment on his part as I don’t want to waste time and money. Just wondering how you guys approach this to ensure the customer has some skin in the game?
  18. Thanks guys, I think the message is loud and clear...don’t bother
  19. Sorry for the confusion, just Motors
  20. For those of you using Motors, what do you think of it? Had a meeting with their rep today, it sounds good for the money, but of course it’s only good value if it sells cars. I’d be interested to hear your experiences please
  21. It was all we had the job only came about because we had deliberately rolled his car onto its side (by hand) and we accidentally broke the windscreen. Ahh, good times, never get the chance to be so stupid these days
  22. Back when I was 18 me and some mates installed a windscreen with No Nails, was a quality job
  23. Thanks for that. This kit I bought had alcohol wipes, I scraped off the old glue and used the wipes before applying. The Gorilla glue is a good shout. Thanks for the tip tip about the screen breaking lol, sure it wasn’t funny at the time
