Cheers David. All feels like a FB/Insta boost, which hasn’t worked for me so far.

Does anyone use google to advertise their business and if so, how much do you spend monthly (what reach to you have), and does it work for you? Cheers

As a small home trader, I use one of my stock cars to avoid the cost of running my own. I just put the cars in trade on the V5, and use the regular details off the V5 to tax it. Never had a problem doing this

Good, pleased for you! I’m still stuck with mine, praying for a miracle

Quote often repairable!

Signed up with Zuto today, got the Comm sheet through, it’s a sliding scale depending on how many deals you do a month but deal 1–5 is £390 per deal, for prime or sub-prime, valued £2.5k to £100k

It’s just early days and I’m not at VAT threshold yet, no doubt would have to do it before end of financial year, but naturally wanted to drag it out as long as possible
-
Anyone got a view about being VAT registered when it comes to finance? Some brokers are saying you must be, and if you go with another broker who doesn’t require it, you may end up getting black listed by the lender?

Thanks Nick, will add them to the call list

Thank you David and Noa, will give those companies a try!

Close have been incredibly helpful in helping me through the FCA process, however they made clear at the start that they wouldn't work with me due to my low volumes (fair enough)

Morning all, got my FCA approval through this morning and going to start the search for a provider. As a doorstepper with a small 3 car stock, I understand most Finance houses won’t be able to help me. I believe Zuto and Mallard possibly will. Are there any others you could recommend? Thanks, James

Thanks Marc

Is anyone on a PAYG AutoTrader package and know if you can upload video’s? I can’t work it out for the life of me. Would call them, but missed my chance for today, maybe till Monday too. Thanks

I’ve got a black Mini Cooper S wedged up my arse with the doors open! Lovely condition, new mot, full dealer history, 50k Miles, was fairly priced to start with, but over time knocked a grand off it and I still haven’t taken a single call on the thing. Been here for 3 months now. Spec is a bit crap, but at its current price it really should have a bit of interest.

To start out as a doorstep trader ?

Hi and welcome. I’ve recently started out as a doorstepper 3 months ago, I’m fortunate in so much as I still have my full time job and it affords me the freedom to do this as well. I guess my advice would be to spend some time working out how much cash you need to have a life each month, how many cars you would need to sell to make that cash, how many cars you would need to stock to sell that many (and if your funds will allow that), as well as getting an idea for how much profit you’ll clear on each car of course. I say this because my experience so far is that it takes longer to sell than I expected, it also takes longer to prep thank I expected, and therefore stock turnaround is less. Not an issue for me, it will just take longer to grow the business to a point where I can leave my full time employment, but it might cause issues to anyone who relies on this as their sole income. Good luck though, I hope it works for you! -
I’ve just signed up, nothing to lose for 25 quid

I believe in building a social media profile, and working on that on insta and FB. However have boosted a few cars and whilst it’s generated good amount of views, no leads.
-
this made me laugh. I might have to give it a try!

Not bad at all, and certainly plenty good enough for this stage of your business!
-
Spot on, has given me some inspiration!

I’ve gone with Lawgistics administered warranties, only pay £15 per warranty registered and keep my own pot aside for any issues. You can choose how lawgistics administer your warranties; where customer can take the cars, how much approval level to give Lawgistics etc. To stay in control, I’ve opted to have Lawgistics contact me to approve any spend for now.

I picked up a really good mini privately, way less than I reckon I would have paid for it at auction. Trouble with private buying is the time it takes
-
Well it wasn’t quite that simple Nick, I soon found out the boot switch doesn’t work, the windscreen wipers don’t operate and someone’s nicked all the bulbs out of the interior lights simple enough stuff to sort, but dodging rain showers on the way home was interesting. Out of interest, do you prefer other auction houses such as Manheim?

Thanks chaps, very helpful, paid for the car and drove away
