  1. Yes but diesel was pampered in 2008 especially earlier! So if you got 6 diesel cars totalling £40k and they have been stood for weeks and weeks.... You'll be looking to lose a lot of £££ In 2008 it was JUST the financial aspect. In 2019/20 you got a range of issues and this whole push for rapid environmental climate change. Yes you do change with the market but like I say you dont know when you might get hit as above you could be sitting on half a dozen diesels as 2 weeks earlier the same models sold like hot cakes and now they dont. And as time goes on they wont be wanted...whereas before you could wait it out... As time goes on the emissions compliance date gets closer and more towns and citied adopt the no diesel approach....
  2. No mate I am in the Midlands. There's always one or two that you have below 3/4k Am also thinking long term e.g. petrol / diesel / electric etc There will be a "point" when no one wants diesels and this point will randomly appear without notice. I have had some folks ring from certain cities that want a petrol variant than a diesel as their city centre has / incoming no diesel in city centre thing. I think some traders really need to be careful if they only sell diesel or a majority of diesel. Its just the whole malarkey of a rush of time wasters / stock VERY expensive at auction and bad economic times which will get very worse if we get a no deal Brexit. Prices of goods from eu will jump through the roof leaving less money for people. A lot of stuff is eu imported (from food to car parts!) Self employment will be difficult and with added crap like zero emissions / diesel etc we will get hit a lot harder than other trades such as gas / plumbing plastering. Plus annual increases in auction fees, insurance, junk misgraded at auction, new BCA assurances that are worthless which you waste more time debating with BCA. I think there will be a massive crash soon. Everyone will increase prices to meet ends and no one will be to afford them unless your Mike Ashley Boris Brexit Boom-Boom
  3. But the sites give you a final price. So if it was £500 cheaper then you pay that you dont ask them to knock off another £300. Yet the same people go into a shop and pay £1000 for an iphone x or £2000 for a 65" tv (yet most dont know if you ask the currys manager he may knock off something or Chuck in a longer warranty) I do believe in political classes in line with buying patterns... Dont think Tory supporters will send daft offers or ask for last price without viewing. If so it will be a very small number On the other hand you got the fascists with no teeth in a rough estate whos 02 reg Clio died and now he's looking at a £1800 motor and says "I'll gis yous £700quid for it m8?" Then he'll come over with another 10 chavs expecting a brand new car Seriously thinking of folding if this continues. I much rather get into property. Do an empty house up and sell it. Less people to deal with = less hassle
  4. Seriously had about 20 of these this week. Is it the national best price last price week? I reply with the actual price. One bugger offered me £700 for a £2000 car. Seriously where do the F do these fools come out of? I think the recent rise of certain political figures has encouraged more and more of these chancers to emerge and have "their say/view"... 2 or 3 years it wasn't this bad !
  5. For the sake of £250 You're wasting too much time and breath. Jeez. After all the time you put into this you will earn £1 an hour if you're lucky. Or you could save all that time and spend it on other vehicles and business tasks Its common for people not to have common sense....
  6. Exactly my point. 95% of customers aren't joe public. And whether you're a trader or joe public you're still a customer.. And should be able to see fees. Yet when you ask the clerks they say it's management orders to not display but you can ask us what the fees are and we can tell you...
  7. Do they?? I didnt notice that Am i the only one thinking BCA might be breaking some little law somewhere when they increase fees and dont tell anyone? Dont you have to notify customers when you increase Charges ie broadband packages etc Yes its not an on going payment but only when you buy but they dont display fees publicly so fools like me can keep an eye on them...
  8. Killing yourself there bud... I wish i could do gas work. I so want to but the whole stupid log book thing is impossible to do as no one wants to take you on as it slows you down Just do servicing and landlord certs £50 each, and basic cooker installations - rake in £300+ day for some bog standard work. Not many good diagnostic guys about as everyone is keen on replacing boilers. If you could do repairs you'd be very busy through word of mouth alone!
  9. i beleieve they do have to legally cater or provide facilities for their customers. Otherwise if customers parked elsewhere eg outside other businesses or residential areas they would cause hostility towards BCA. They cannot force people to buy online particularly as there is a charge than an incentive. If you bought 10 cars Thats £500
  10. If everyone stuck together and raised this then they wouldnt do it. But they know dealers always hate each other and cannot work together
  11. Am i the only one that is happy with an online printout...? Since it's the same as the original mot cert is on basic standard paper
  12. Your lifeline is your police case / report file. It's not the same case as he was travelling in another car and there's liability to sort out etc etc
  13. I dont understand the purpose of the new halls. Why have they retained the old ones? I thought they would have 4 halls in total as they are quite a distance from the other 2. Never been to the new halls when they got 2 simultaneous auctions on at the same time - how would you know which auctioneer is talking? There is nothing dividing the noise...and a little shitty sandwhich bar thing in the middle. Oh when i get some grumpy arse telling me "ner ner management said you cant do this or that" i tell them to go back to their management and tell them punters arent here for a merry go round and that this management excuse is not going to work. Some might say am being rude but when you're spending thousands on a car which you cant even drive you should get the opportunity to test it properly... And when they get arsey you have to tell them... Recently one of our lads jumped in a car to test clutch and a grumpy shift runner said "OUT" And i told him the above... Anyways he goes well there was an accident once at a BCA site were a member of the public engaged the clutch and hit someone... And I said hold on sunshine... The same happened at paddock wood with one of the bca staff driving the car! And oh if they are overspilling into car parks you do know sooner or later they might reduce the loyalty collection and payment times e.g. gold 3 days to pay and then 3 days to collect Just man up lads.... If you dont sooner or later they will squeeze more out of you.
  14. Why would they be easy pickers? They are a national company and should have better quality control than a one man band or small company. You should read the article... They failed to do checks and works listed they have carried out.
  15. Typical a daft dopey mare on the other end of the phone...who cant even put in 0 to 9 digits correctly... Sometimes i wonder how these people landed the job in the first place. She's gone home and Couldn't give a monkey's
  16. From reading the article i noticed at the bottom that the Pro's Halfords got a £40k fine in April too... http://cardealermagazine.co.uk/publish/halfords-autocentre-ordered-pay-nearly-40000-poor-car-service/168378
  17. He does have a point. A lot of newbie threads do get that treatment and he did say he has read a lot on the forum... Also your old profile pic was better. Newbie - few rules: Dont expect the margins to be the same week in week out. Some weeks they will be a lot higher other weeks they will be lower. Be prepared to take a risk. Do your own homework dont plagiarise
  18. 1) tell him how can you go into her from the damage caused ie a dent in door... 2) tell him you'll get nicked for threatening behavior and public order 3) she should have got done from dd if over limit 4) my insurers have always asked for proof of trading at start of policy. They shouldn't ask you again unless it's a twatty company like bollingtons who are robotic
  19. But did anyone get any bargains though? Guessing online hunters bidded from their beds
  20. Thursday Walsall ran on until 8pm. I dont know if they will let you release the car at that time though? Yet the website says 530pm closing time
  21. I've noticed this at a lot of sites. You wait ages to get the car out and yard staff dont want to help you as they got at least half a dozen cars to move out to get your car. They need to run sales on a Saturday now. They did at Nottingham for a while but stopped. I dont know why they just do it at Enfield only.
  22. I think motor trade policies are cheaper than a private policy which are based on the car and its popularity as well ie a Golf R type will be expensive to insure as they are known to be stolen. So i would keep a trade policy and sell the minimum of cars You're supposed to sell as a trade policy holder from home. So if its 12 cars a year that's one a month. Alternatively you can speak to a mate who trades and stick some vehicles of his vehicles on your policy from time to time. Gosh i hate the days of a private policy and the stupid the then £30 admin fee to amend vehicle details. Must be a lot more now
  23. Apart from what i shared earlier you can all laugh at me but for the love of god i have never understood the differences between all the cats.. C d n s x etc There are simply too many categories and how can they determine which car fits where? You can be paid out for all of the cats i believe but if you're paid out then the damage would be similar from one cat to another. Another confusing aspect of insurance. Confused? Confused.com
  24. Where the heck do you part at Wolves?! It's a busy road and no foot path??
  25. And under table deals dont have to be dealers but anyone especially rich folk who have had their nice car smashed by their spotty spoilt 17yr old they don't want their dearest Jules to have no no claims and a bad record "oh how could we!" I still owe someone lunch for a minor scrape in 2007 haha
