  1. I mind my dad used to borrow his bosses discovery when we went away on holiday and I loved it though I wanted him to get a Vauxhall sintra more than anything as I loved the thought of a 7 seater he always had Granada’s and scorpios as company cars back then! intercity was probably the second auction I ever went to when I started trading as a hobby, used to be there every Sunday as it meant i didn’t need to take time out of work to go.
  2. I just got that impression when he was talking about selling a range rover at 12, I know he said it was a friend of his family but when I was wee my friends families had old Renault scenics
  3. As great as the success story was he was obviously extremely fortunate to have grown up with a wealthy family which I’m sure would have been a massive help for start up capital, but I’ll reserve all my opinions till I have read the book.
  4. Ordered the book but anyone seen there online reviews? Surprisingly awful
  5. Same to you Casper! I’d of had that focus and stuck it up for £2995 though
  6. Welcome, what a bad time to start but at that end of the market there’s always customers!
  7. It isn’t amassed quickly, I don’t think it would be easy if you sell normal run of the mill stuff Either. We post either nice stock or funny things.
  8. And if you get it working don’t tell any of us your website address or we’ll rip the hole out of the free valuations to save us paying a cap subscription
  9. BCA make it far too easy to get drunk and buy cars
  10. I was collecting 3 from manheim today and was discussing this with the branch manager. We both agreed their site is fine on a laptop or desktop pc but woeful from a tablet or mobile. If they had a decent app I think I would use them a lot more as they are closer to me than any BCA sites.
  11. We’ve bought everything online this month about 20 units or so, some great some bad but it’s just a gamble with BCA, I don’t like Mannheim as an auction but there grading system and reports are much better!
  12. Cheers will ask my brother to use it I don’t use Facebook or that.
  13. If anyone needs anything collected from any of the Scottish BCA auctions that’s heading down south let me know I have 2 available spaces down to Bristol on Saturday if it’s any use to anyone. cheers Mark
  14. I think the simplest one is probably the one you couldn’t write in a magazine and it’s simply “don’t be a dick” I am far more likely to do Something for a customer I like rather than one who has a poor attitude.
  15. Cheers Casper! I forgot about them, I had to send a customer down there at the start of the lockdown as Dingbro couldn’t supply pads for his Mokka as it was too new and they relieved him of £155+vat for supply only
  16. All the Vauxhall dealers local to use are shut completely
  17. I used getmyradiocodes.com
  18. Whip the radio out mate get ther serial number and get it online for £8 odd
  19. There is a Ferrari on Autotrader with 85k miles, just looking at it scares me! Ticking time bomb with that mileage! https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202002257716050?atmobcid=soc4
  20. My main goal is a Lamborghini Huracan but I simply can’t afford one of them, a decent 570s with low mileage can be bought for 80/90k which with a large deposit makes it manageable on a pcp deal but a comparable lambo the cost price is around £120k which makes the monthlies slightly eye watering. I have been researching the 570’s quite a lot and although some have issues it is the same with any supercars. We had a 5.0 V10 Gallardo in the workshop with 36k miles for oil consumption issues that needed a full rebuild which came to close to 30k which most surprisingly the warranty company paid for after 2 engineers inspections.
  21. Surely the competition commission would probably have some objections to this.
  22. I’ve always wondered this say you buy a car online with no report and when you get it delivered or go to collect the bottom end is knocking its pan in can you reject it with them if it’s a blatant issue?
  23. I’m the same Casper, all my staff are like family. One of my guys my missus even makes him dinners and sends then up the road with him as he lives himself. We all get on well and all come and go and help one another out and that’s the way it should be. With regard to the mots my own car will still be getting done on its 12 months as the gap in the history would annoy me. My car is well maintained and would pass so what’s the cost of a test fee? Wallies. ps hope you and the family are well Casper.
  24. The main issue with staffing in the automotive industry is that any good mechanic sooner or later realises working for £13/14 is pointless when they can work as an aircraft engineer and make close to double that. For such a skilled job it’s seriously underpaid.
  25. Yes Mot’s won’t need done for 6 months but cars will still have faults, they will wear out tyres, brakes, service lights will come on, The new Vauxhall’s for example go into limp mode if they overrun there service intervals by a decent bit. If a car is in with us for anything we give it a quick skim over and give the customer a list of advisories if any. Some choose to do them some don’t, we don’t push sales just give advice. We have went from doing 10/15 Mot’s a week to doing about 2/3 but we are still sending out mot reminders to customers as if there car is properly maintained the actual test doesn’t cost much.
