  1. I think the trick is to use the word 'Independent' ........................ on your blurb I have "Independent Mercedes -Benz Specialist" on mine, also all over the workshop van, no problem so far Shhhhhhhh
  2. FFS, refund them yesterday !! Imagine what is going to happen if something else sh!ts it's pants on their Hols, they'll want compo, mountain rescue, hire car, 4 poster hotel suites etc etc etc. And I can't believe you fitted a Clutch without doing the Concentric Release Brg, jeez, I did that once when they first started with them, next week i was doing it again, never ever will I not fit a 3 piece kit these days
  3. LOL, I could have been that garage many years ago when i had the Trans Firm. I / Customers did all that, but the funniest 2 were:- I Built a V8 Chevy powered Fiat 500 (old 1972 shape), hot summers day, units all had their doors and windows open, big tyre burn out in our Car park, both the neighbouring units evacuated coughing and thinking there was a fire Also went in one Sunday, (bin collection was a Monday Morning), scrapped a load of old Auto Box Gearsets etc etc, filled up next doors skip then put some of their Cardboard boxes on top. Bin lorry lifts bin at 10am next day, humongous rumble and crash, bottom fell outta their bin I denied all knowledge of that one In my defence I was only in my early 30's and a little wild back then
  4. I'd stick that on retention and EBay it
  5. Hi, not sure if Clip can read crank to cam synch, I've not had mine long and haven't used it in anger yet is there a fuel primer bulb near filter ? I've had them cause air on 05 / 06 vintage
  6. LOL /\ /\ /\ You forgot "January Sales" followed by "they're all skint after January Sales",
  7. Yeah, agreed /\ /\ /\ PITA job, there is no Key on the Crankshaft Timing Belt Pulley, so it moves as soon as you remove the Bottom Pulley Bolt to take the Cover off. This is one Cam Belt you simply can't do without correct tools
  8. LOL, know what you mean, someone texts me, I read it twice then reply covering all bases, around 3 minutes..................... Any one of our youngsters, phone goes ping, 3 seconds later thumb nails go clatter clatter clatter on screen, done !! 15 seconds tops
  9. Yeah, but they buy the cheap Tarmac Roller your selling, then come back a week later and steal the 2 diggers and a Shogun that they saw while they were casing your site
  10. Glad you got shot of it That would have sold in a heartbeat where I am, plenty young "Jockesses" that daddy woulda bought that for, the local gals would think it was "cool", and the boys would think it Gay, well some but not all of 'em Cheers Dave

    BMW E90

Nice easy fix then Glad you got it sorted. FWIW you'd be surprised how many Garages just have a drum of cheap 5w30 and bung it in everything !! I don't stock drums now, just order the correct quantity of correct oil per job Cheers Dave
  12. Never Trust a Copper springs to mind !! Asshole !! BTW, £140 isn't trade on an ML Battery, that's around my "marked up" Retail, so cop got fleeced lmao I pay around 85 squids for an Oldham 3 yr warranty to fit big MB's, Oldham is actually either as good as or better than Yuasa Oh no, I can't believe that
  13. Post yes. And I have one of the quickest broadbands in our area but I put nothing involving money anywhere near a computer that goes on the internet lol !! Religious Grounds or insanity might work for me
  14. LOL, they always were horrors. if we were busy enough we'd send them to Gravesend Transmissions lol, "They specialise in the CVT sir" I'd tell the billy ....................... Ho Ho Ho, I never did like Graham at GTS !!
  15. If it's still going strong you didn't dodge a bullet lol, more like an exocet missile LOL. I did a bunch back in the day, Fords Fiats Nissans etc Fluid on it's own is a lottery, rarely fixed them long term, at the whining stage yours was at I'd say Fluid and Filter and it'll be good for at least 6 months a year ............... Thing is this, the whine noise is Pump starvation, shit in the Oil and Filter makes it difficult for the Pump to draw Fluid, hence the whine. But ............ That shit had to come from somewhere, usually something breaking up !! HTH, Cheers Dave
  16. Not so up here, but when I was SE I always used to find that the Motor trade was famine or feast !! That's why I started buying and selling, I'd buy nice Cars with stuffed Trans and then when workshop was quiet we had work to do, money came back in when they all sold Buying some work basically Good thing about that was we didn't "Dress Up" those Transmissions with Paint etc, so they didn't get a 12 mth Warranty, just whatever warranty the Car was sold with at that time Usually statutory
  17. Yes, but most warranties these days on anything, Stereo, Bicycle, Microwave, etc etc, they either send their own guy out or RTB. If I don't know or like the look of a Billy I'll write RTB on his Invoice and get him to Initial It. When I was South running the Gearbox firm, all Transmissions had a "Free Warranty" printed A5 Certificate, and Billy signed to say he read and accepted the terms. Terms were RTB, no incidental costs like Hotels, Car Hire, Recovery etc etc, strictly Parts and Labour !! You'd be surprised, (well maybe not), how much of a twat a Billy could be when I'd charged him say £1500 for a Rebuilt Trans in his old Renault 3.0 Espace and then it shat it's pants 11 months and 27 Days later 'cos he'd been towing a really heavy Caravan / Speed Boat up hills and passes in Windermere on the hottest day of the year with the Car full of peeps and luggage !! If I so much as saw a tow bar they were quoted an extra £250 to fit additional Trans Oil Cooler Kit, and if they refused the Free Warranty was reduced to 3 months !!
  18. Couldn't agree more, I've been in this trade all my life. Luckily these days I'm aklways booked in the workshop in advance and the few Cars a month all but sell themselves. It will all come good !!
  19. I just buy a big section of plate and cut the pieces out I've done enough Land Rovers that way,, but I'll only weld them up if it's localised section, if the rest of Chassis isn't far behind the fooked bit then I don't wanna know
  20. "Spleen" Bridge is outta my area lol but yeah, lotsa MacDonalds over there, I used to do a regular DJ residency in one of the Hotels near there Yeah we do have some tossers up here, usually Engleesh from Plockton, only yesterday I turned one away telling him i was booked up for 8 weeks lol, reality is booked for 3 weeks
  21. Nah, Billy had it 2 weeks when the Battery died, I'm with Del Boy on this one initially, he did the right thing. I would have paid for and fitted a new, decent, 3 yr Warranty "Oldham" Battery from factors !! However if he wanted to go elsewhere I would have told him " A decent Battery is £xx and I would have fitted it for nothing, if you choose / chose to go elsewhere, all I'm paying is the £xx !!" If after all that he tries to be a w@nker with his £180 invoice then ............ "Feck off you brain dead c*nt" Thankfully I don't get customers like that !! More likely one of my Customers would have offered to go halves
  22. Been looking at this for a while. As far as I know, there is no Law that says you have to own / use a Computer, Mobile, Tablet etc in UK. If I am forced to do this I will simply shut up shop and retire !! I suspect a lot of our Rural Sole Traders / Crofters will do the same BIG BROTHER SOCIETY FFS
