Hi Guys, 55 Focus Zetec, Towed in as a non starter, battery flat, guy has been trying to fix it and given up. Charged Battery, it started straight up, plugged in several Diag Machines, no Comm with PCM or anything else, then it goes into limp mode, Ignition, Oil, Handbrake and Engine MIL lights come on at times then go off again, Engine light stays on !! All wipers lights horn heater A/C etc working, Stereo not working I did get it to read once on Snap On in OBD II mode, got High Speed Can error in PCM, no other Codes in PCM, now refusing to communicate again Is this the Infamous FUBAR Instrument Cluster fault ?? TIA Dave Oh, it has started every time for me, but guy claims it failed to start and hadn't run since, until I got it, he said he thought it may be Immo, but i don't know if immo light was on or not, he is away at the moment without contact

Exactly that !! Whilst I was doing another job, I watched a local fleet owner and his brother plus their workshop muppet retard struggle for 4 hours + with a Van Hool Bus tyre, Ratchet Straps, Bits of Wood, push pull wrestle, ton of sweat, all sorts of shite, no avail !! So come lunchtime I went down to the local petrol garage and bought a can of sniff, when I got back they're all laughing and taking the piss .................... "Fuck off, that doesn't work" / "Only on Ice Road Truckers" etc etc .............................. Stand the Wheel flat on top of some old wheel rims, so the floor side is off the ground and gravity is sitting the tyre on the floor side bead. Now light blow torch a couple feet away from the Tyre, spray Sniff into Tyre through the top bead, slowly going round the gap 2 or 3 times then come over sidewall along ground for 2 ft, quickly turn away and hit the sniff trail with the lit blow torch ............................ BAM !! Job done They'll not take the piss again

I've been with Bollingtons for years, had one claim years ago, private use whilst on holiday in Lakes with Power Boat on the back, my fault !! Distraction within the Car ........................ A line of stop start traffic pulled away on a fast A road, we were off, up to 60 MPH, then stopped suddenly, just as I was distracted for a split second I braked hard, full on ABS jobbie on dry day hot tarmac, but I hit a Micra up the arse around 20 - 30 mph with my Discovery, totally wrote the Micra off, hardly any damage to the Disco. Cops involved, had a good look at trailer etc, no charges brought against anyone, genuine accident, everything good and legal. I didn't claim, we carried on the Holiday and later I sorted my Disco, but obviously the 3rd party did claim, so did the guy in front of him, who I pushed him into No problem at all making a claim, and only lost a percentage of NCD, not the whole lot Still with them today, price hasn't gone up in years, just a few £ this year, and some years it actually went down

Hi, I would expect that to be a base and clear, even solid colours (non metallics) are base coat and clear nowadays. I have had good results using good quality aerosols on small parts such as yours, I've even done whole bumpers with a "bodyshop type" colour matched aerosol Base Coat, and then Clear Lacquered with large Aerosol Lacquers It's all in the preparation though, if you don't rub it down dead flat, use the right plastic primer, etc etc then the finish will be poor. As said, dust the first coat or 2 and leave it in warm environment for an hour or more to seal it up, then 2 heavier base coats, and lacquer tomorrow Fit it but don't polish it for a few days HTH

PMSL Have you never tried a can of "Easy Start" and a blowtorch ?????? I shit you not it works a treat in half a second Impresses the fuck out of by standers too I used to do it all the time on the Volvo Van Hool Bus Tyres, have also done it on certain low profiles on awkward rims that won't seat

Definitely change the Plug................Might also be worth spending 10 minutes checking the Valve Clearances, QC is always the issue with anything Chinesium I'll do mine when it's Run In, as atm it starts first pull Very true, the last "Car Dealer" we had round here was a prime example, thankfully for the locals he has disappeared now

Hi, Thanks Guys We have 5 Acres of "Heilan" land, kills off Brush Cutters and Lawn Mowers etc I now buy a new Chinesium Brush Cutter every couple of years have done for a while now . I have found those Chinsese Spark Plugs are shite, I actually keep a couple NGK's on the shelf now Hell yeah, I'd change that plug in yours, £2.11 from my local factor, NGK BPR 8 ES in the Pressure Washer does make a helluva difference to how they start HTH Oh, BTW I sent the £169 guy an EBay message, he replied that he doesn't post outside UK Mainland, to which I replied that it was his loss and could he please tell me exactly which ferry was needed to get to IV40 8HB from England The one I bought just automatically added the postage on, I don't have a problem with that, yeah we are a remote area, but last time I drove south we were still UK Mainland

Hi Guys, Following on from the Pressure Washer discussion in another CDM Forum Thread here's a little info, on how, (hopefully) to get the best out of a Chinese Clone Petrol Pressure Washer My new one arrived today, 6.5 hp Petrol Pressure Washer, 3000 psi Yeah, it's a Chinesium Clone, but after reports here that they are still running well after over a year so I thought sod paying £800 - 1000 for a Honda, I bought the one below ......................... £189.89 delivered to my door https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SwitZer-Petrol-Power-Pressure-Jet-Washer-3000PSI-6-5HP-Engine-With-Gun-Hose/380330056804?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649I won't be using it nearly as much as some of you guys, probably 2-5 Cars weekly, If it works for a year or 2 then goes bang, I will simply throw it away and buy another I spent all morning assembling it, built it up real carefully, threw the Chinese Nuts and Bolts in the bin and used workshop Stock Stainless Bolts Nuts and Washers.I went round it checking / tightening all the bolts etc, and also threw the Chinese Spark Plug in the bin !!I fitted an NGK BPR8ES Plug, also Coppaslipped all threads that I may need to undo for future Maintenance / small repairs.I sprayed Waxoyl in all the tubular framework, and used rubber grease on all the O rings on the quick release couplings for lance / nozzles etc etc.I pumped the Tyres to 26 psi, filled it with fresh Petrol and 5W/40 Mineral Engine Oil, (don't use synthetic in an Air Cooled Chinesium Engine), you want it to run all the "high spots" off !! I also squirted around 10 cc of Oil down the Spark Plug Hole and pulled the engine over a few turns before putting the new NGK Plug in. You never know, these don't come with any Oil in them, so the Chineesey's may not lube 'em very well when they build 'em First start up of anything is when most wear occurs, just thought I'd give it the best chance I could So I wheeled it outside, plugged my Hosepipe coupler onto it, turned on the Water, Ignition on, Petrol Tap on, Choke on, Pull .............................Started up first go, a little smoke from the Oil I put down the Bore, for about 5 seconds, then choke off open up throttle and pull the lance trigger, sweet as a nut, not that noisy, doesn't vibrate much and definitely not rattly !!Very Happy Bunny, a nice little machine for buttons, I'll use it for about 10 car washes or so, then give it an Oil Change and just keep using it Hope this helps someone Cheers Dave

It's not about wearing out bores though, although low compression can affect Offset Drift !! It is about the filters resistance (or not) to flow air, the newer Euro 5 + Engines are wound way tighter on their monitoring software. Modern diesels do not just monitor Airflow at MAF sensor any more It has to read a specific MAF and cross reference that with MAP, Turbo Actuator Position, EGR Position, Exhaust Back Pressure, Inlet Air Temp Throttle Position, Butterfly Motor Position, RPM, Gear Selected, Road Speed etc etc etc etc, and if any one of these disagrees you get Airflow Offset Drift Code !! Note that I didn't say Airflow Meter FUBAR code or whatever "Offset Drift" means it exceeds or is lower than the ever tightening, (Euro Emissions standards fault), parameters that are pre programmed into the ECU's monitors, i.e. it has drifted out of a pre set range measured against speeds and loads In a nutshell "Airflow has drifted away from what it should be" !! BTW, that code also prevents them from Re genning the DPF so if billy bunter keeps driving it with the light on "because it's running ok" he will block the DPF and cause a heap more grief

I didn’t know you could do this, could you explain a little how that all works Mark? What are the set up costs etc? IIRC it is just a form to register at your local factors, not sure if there is any fee, did it years ago at my old firm, never bothered since moving up here. I use an on line guy these days who does Road Legal and also illegal font / modded Private Plates, (for show use only ), he has On Line plate constructor s/w and doesn't need all the paperwork bullshit, plates usually arrive next day in post !! I think he is Ireland based, but have no contact details apart from :- https://www.fancyplates.com/ Don't bother trying the phone number, I've never got through I've bought a few "arguable but dubious, slightly modded" private plates for my own fleet, like a U narrowed so it looks like a V in DAVE and another one with a 7 with the french style bar across it so it looks like an F Not had any grief from cops, except once over the "french 7" and never bothered changing that plate after the bollocking, no grief since Last one I bought for my Van was D15 KOE space narrowed, reads DISKOE ......................... All the locals call me "Disco Dave" as I gig local Parties, Weddings and Karaoke in Pubs / Halls etc as a hobby ......................Yeah, I know, minds and little things and all that jazz

if anyone else is curious, OM651 = all 4 cylinder engines built from 2008-present Hi, in actual fact it's probably safe to say all MB CDI Diesels from circa 2008 up, but I quoted the OM651 because I've had that problem on 4 now that have just come off MB Warranty and have been serviced locally with Fram and Wix etc Filters. That particular code can mean anything to do with Air Flow from Air Intake at Grille to Exhaust Tail Pipe, including a low Compression but running OK You don't want to know how long it took to diagnose the first one as Air Filter, and even then I was sceptical but it's now done 6000 miles and been fine, before fitting MB Filter it would pop the Code every couple hundred miles. Goes to Manchester and back daily from Kyle, a Sprinter Prawn Van Also had it on 2009 E Class Wagon as well as the Sprinters. The pattern filters seem to be OK for a couple of k miles, then the Code flags, and if you check the Air Filter as SDS tells you to do for first check, it still looks like new

Aha, thought so lol

What has MID got to do with Tax ?? I'm sure the DVLA wouldn't care, they will be getting paid twice for the same month, and once they cancel the original tax, then the PO will get the refund !! I persume this would be using and cancelling Direct debit, otherwise the persons doing so would be paying a 6 month minimum !! presume even still no edit button
-
Yeah, they are good on service items, other parts TBH I find it depends on the exact part, and never ever VOR it, they reduce discount to a few measly % BTW do not fit pattern factor Air Filters to the new OM651 Diesels, I've had a few in recently with Fram and others fitted and they keep popping Airflow offset drift codes, seems thay are verrrrrrrry sensitive to their Airflow

Ah, sorry Nick, thought it was yourself That's hellish dear EEEEK Last one I bought for my S55 10 months ago, shiny stainless stylee with blade from MB who I have Trade A/c with, £360 they did give trade discount I have found MB prices do go up and down on all parts depending upon Euro / GB Pound
-
/\ /\ /\ Any MB since circa 1999, with the IR type Key Fob, are ~ £360 Main Dealer , or £180 Decent trustworthy Locksmith Good job Nick's guys "New Software" didn't brick the EIS or there'd have been major expense related grief, I'm not sure I'd have been as trusting as Nick, unless I'd known and done business with the guy for a long while The very late Cars with just Fob are a bit dearer right now

Aye whatever yr choice lol, the Scratch Remover comes in a tube too around a tenner IIRC
-
They have never failed me, haven't needed them much in 2 years, but definitely work on Ford M Series and Citroen Peugeot H/U's on circa 55 plate !!
-
IIRC you can't do it if it's been in trade, only an un broken sorn
