  1. Which is exactly why I don't have a web site and don't sell very much via EBay, your "cretins" sums 'em up !! I gave up on the Website thing years ago, when we had the Transmission firm, never ever did all the stupid questions turn into someone spending coin on a new G/Box
  2. /\ /\ /\ but surely that is a National Average, or does your "Algorithm" work on a region basis ??
  3. Yes Nick, I would totally agree with your assumption but algorithms don't work in the real world, (as I think you know), .................... ever tried bunging a monkey at "Bit Coin" The whole problem is something like the "World has gone mad", well at least the UK lol. FE, you can't sell a 10k Car to a Shop Assistant in a depressed area, 'cause he simply can't afford it. A Shop Assistant in Greenwich could probably afford it on HP. But as a Dealer, if you know your area, you can buy the same Car from, say another shop worker, for a lot less, and then valet it and give it a freshen up, a service & new MOT and sell it to the original Shop Assistant for a decent profit Location location location, know the locale
  4. colacharlie, Right off the bat I'll tell you my sales are a total different ball game...................But................. Back to basics .................. Listen to the advice given by guys who sell far more cars than I do, BUT..................... Apply the "AREA" equation, so look at what xyz is selling for what $$$, £££, YEN, etc, (it don't matter), in your area ................... Then buy it stupidly low and sell it for high margin, you won't go wrong. If you're looking for a guide that will suddenly make you a billionaire overnight, then forget it, go sell golf balls to golf addicts etc ................ You simply cannot say that, (for example), you are in London so a 2010 Range Rover will sell for x and the trade price is y so I'll make z profit ..................... Glasses Guide, CAP etc used to apply years and years ago, but in this day and age it doesn't .................. Simples If we all did that we'd all have gone skint long ago, and anyone who's been on here a while "should" "maybe" "might do" tell you the same if they're being honest................ You're the man making the deal, just make sure you're the man "maxing out" the GP HTH,
  5. Had to laugh, I had an 06 Diesel one, px from a month ago, Owed me ~ £210 with a fresh MOT on it. A guy phoned the other day and said he would be straight round, I really thought it was sold, but he didn't show. Same guy called in here this morning, full of apologies, (fell off a hill, dog died, curried guts, granny shat the bed etc etc), but he had £900 in his hand and drove it away That's 3 this month so far, so a busy month for my Sales I'll have to get some of the stock Cars fixed and tested now !!
  6. LOL Phil, we've done that to death on the "Labour Rates" Thread No such thing as a free lunch !! If I were you I'd look through some Classic Car Magazines and see if there is any recommendations, Classic Car Forum perhaps ?? HTH, Cheers Dave
  7. Out of 225 UK Cars, 217 are in Scotland Big surprise are they getting freebies ??
  8. 2 diesels so far this month, C Class 2004 and Vito Van 2009

Citroen / Pugs have to by law give you the PIN code Customer last week had had the Van (Berlingo) from new, but lost the "Credit Card" with pin, Dealer didn't wanna give it me, but after getting at the Svc Manager they did. With the right "Eepromming" technique, you can also get the PIN from a knackered BSI too, my Virginiser man confirmed it for me, just in case lol So you must be the Renowh CAN Clip expert here then, I'll shout when I get aggro
  10. /\ +1 You sold the car very quickly and for a decent profit, could some of the others ?? ................ Jeez, some of 'em come here moaning they haven't sold anything for weeks, some have had a Car for months + ......................... FFS, I'd have parted it out, dug a big 'ole and buried the rest long before then
  11. Just buy a new VOLVO, MB, VAG etc and make all your calls via the handsfree in the Car......................... All data is uploaded to Factory server, so Police, Insurance, Revenue, in fact anyone with a justifiable reason can then get access to Calls, Speeds, Location, whether you've had a Coffee break on long journey, driven it like a twat etc etc etc................ I sh!t you not !! ........................... Insurer recently refused to pay out an a 3 month old Van that a mates employee stuck down a ditch, driver had driven it 300 miles from Glasgow to Skye, and looking at the files the Insurers produced he was Speeding here there / everywhere, pulling 2G round this bend, overtaking at a blind bend etc etc etc,
  12. /\ /\ /\ love it, Coffee on Screen again

Focii , yeah still doing the Shutter Code / Alt light, did one 2 weeks ago. Re the Pug / Cit's, so wtf do you all do when the BSI shits itself ????? .................... Maybe this is a Scotland (wet weather) thing, but I get loads of 'em, most of which, (although I hate frogs), are quite tidy Cars, but at Stealer prices the owners are prepared to bin 'em. BBA can only repair some, not all, and that takes a few days via postal etc. In the past I used to buy the complete ECU set, but every bloody car seems to be different with options, and a generic will not Configure them or program the Keys, plus the sets now have a high s/h value................ Now, I buy a s/h BSI module, Virgin it. Then fit and Re Program it with PP2000 or Lexia (Pug / Cit) choice on same machine I Find the machine very intuitive and easy, but don't all rush out and buy, cos a lot of Ali Baba Chinese clones, (all different Car makes), are sh!te, unless you are an IT Programmer, & / or EE and virtually non existent after sales svc. Most Chinese time out after 2-3 years and nuke themselves, full of viruses, and some functions remain locked without p/w's ...................... You must get "Full Chip" Mux, and decent s/w. I prefer to pay a little more from a UK Diag Machine Specialist, who has sorted out the Chinesium s/w and will answer phone / email, and Team Viewer and sort any Machine with probs. So, what does a used Virgin BSI end up costing me ................... normally a ton on average, and around 1 hr max from Diagnosis to completion So buy a Pug / Cit frog with shagged BSI for buttons, and retail for "Kerchiiiiiiiiiiiiiing", or if you don't want the Car quote the Billy £700 to fix it "Kerchiiiiiiiiiiiiing" Cheers Dave
  14. /\ /\ /\ LIKE Gone Bell Ringing

Lol, I never disclose I'm trade, other car marques etc, I just sign up and look see, find a similar post in a diagnostic thread etc and fire away I actually moderate a foreign forum, and although I help out a lot of guys, who wouldn't ever spend any money with me in UK, but you'd be surprised at how much can be learned from them, pro's like us sometimes over think things and we can miss something obvious BTW, if your into froggies, do you have Diagbox Lexia / PP2000 , or Renault CAN Clip ?? I just got Pug / Citroen, and Renault is on it's way
  18. I've seen EBay SoR's go for more than Retail, worth a shot
  19. That's what I love about a Billy, anyone in our trade wouldn't keep /drive certain Cars but it doesn't mean we can't earn some folding outta selling 'em
  20. Nah, of course not. Obviously in such a remote area, locals do get a little "leniency" from local cops, but still no, I'm not expecting that, my only concern is that nowadays, with the influx of "Area Cars" there is no longer any "goodwill" read "warning, bollocking", call it what you will My OP was just because I only just got them, and didn't wanna be falling foul of the DVLA guidelines, which incidentally, contradict the RTA and Vehicle Excise regs in certain places, like most of the UK "Red Tape" !! I now am clear exactly how when and why I'll use my Trade Plates
  21. Not these days they're all past their sell by I had a broke down tourist with one a few weeks back, fuel filter full of water because Filler neck was rotten, water in tank. Caned the arse outta that job as it was tourist rates lol, but he was back on road in 2 days, welded up filler neck (off the vehicle lol), new filter and cleaned out tank and pump strainer, voila !! Smiling tourist with lighter wallet
  22. LOL, I'm in the same boat retailing Cars, rarely advertise, always cash or bank t/fer, and usually sell by word of mouth from other customers who are at the Workshop Numbers wise, a busy month I'll sell 3-4 units, quiet 1-2, but my margins are very high Probably make as much GP outta 2 cars a month as I do through the workshop in a month
