  1. 340 ft on my depth sounder in one place just off our shore line, on a high tide
  2. That's how I got when I lived in SE, "There is always some C*nt" Thankfully these days due to location and I'm getting older and at long last wiser I just laugh at the stupid pricks nowadays, and it is rare for anyone to rile me now. A tourist last summer was getting really nasty with Mel in a local shop, I had that twat round the throat in a millisecond and growled at him, he soon ran away
  3. LOL, I could write a book on the subject, and a lot of it would be repairs done by local Garages to me
  4. I tried 2 times 3 year old Nissan's when i had the gearbox firm, as we often had peoples Automatics for a week or two. Un grateful scabby tight fisted scum just wrecked the bloody things .................. Never again !! The best I'll do now is give a decent Customer a lift to or from home (one way per repair) if within a 10 mile radius Sales Customers, well if they are serious and actually want a Car from me they can get here themselves
  5. This is all very good, but :- Quote:- Some manufacturers fear that bungling DIY repairers will damage the machines they’re trying to fix, and potentially render them dangerous. This applies to all things including Cars, and not just DIY but inept Garages as well. I see this on a daily basis. It's a thorny subject with no real answer.
  6. Agreed, and as for the Loan Car I would just report it stolen if he doesn't return it when you ask for your vehicle back. Mind, I don't lend vehicles out anyway, haven't done that for 20+ years
  7. Most Factors will sell you a half reasonable H/U for around £60 a lidl cheapo will sound worse than what you already got
  8. Here's another one for the list .............. People who park outside others houses
  9. When we lived in Swanscombe Kent, that was always crowded for Parking in the road we lived in. I "moved" a twin wheel Transit 'Pike Up" truck once, blocking my dropped kerb, this guy was a Pikey type, I'd asked him nicely a couple of times not to block the dropped kerb, then after a few weeks it had got to the "fuck off out of it" stage Few weeks later there it was again, I think he was shagging a local wifey during the day. Anyway I rocked up in my Discovery one lunch time, couldn't get in, 10 mins of knocking on doors and hooting hooter, no one came out. I noticed the Steering was on a slight lock, so I put a rope on the Towing eye, hooked it to the Disco, and pulled it out into the middle of the road, so it was completely blocking the road. Un hooked it, drove around the block, coming in from the other end of the road and parked in my drive About an hour later along comes plod knocking on doors, "No officer", with big sarcastic grin, "I know nothing, it's not my vehicle" ........... same at a few other houses. Next comes plods Recovery Wagon and winches it onto the back of their lorry, and as he's strapping it down there is a helluva hulabaloo, yelling and shouting going on outside. I go out to watch and have a laugh ............. The pikey has returned, swearing and getting all aggy, he gets nicked and cuffed, carted off Transhit truck gets towed, my drive never got blocked again. No damage done to Vehicle, but the guy got what he deserved Probably cost him more than the old Tranny was worth to get it back. After all of this, the next time I saw it it was parked at the other end of our road and wasn't blocking anyone
  10. Nice isn't it when you become almost self sufficient ................ Not having to deal with twats like that, we have 5 Acres now, so I have plenty of room, even if i want to expand. The Loch is at the Rear, so we keep that as Garden Beach etc, all my Parking and business activities, Workshop etc is on the Main Road side at the front of the House, with a small front Garden in front, it works for us I would have thought that there would have been a way to get that guy nicked for parking on a footpath, I'm no grass, but if he was that much of a c*nt I'd have pushed and pushed the Cops or Council to issue tickets !!
  11. Some of this disgusts me Yet another reason I moved away. I have 8 Customer / Sales Car Parking Bays and 5 for Personal Vehicles, all within my own land. Very few folks need to Park on street where we are, and there is certainly no one spineless enough to vandalise someones Vehicle .................... Then again, no one is arrogant enough to block someones entrance way to their property either. It is the person parking the Vehicle that needs sorting out, not the Vehicle !! But fact is if you are parked on a road with no Parking Restrictions, the house owner does not own the bloody road !! If he want's an unobstructed view out of his windows he should buy a house away from the Rat Race, with it's own driveway etc etc. How many on here proclaim in other posts that they tax and park their cars in quiet streets, same shit different day
  12. If I'm in the Workshop on a Sat or Sun working on one of our own Cars, the Gate and Doors are locked and I ignore them
  13. I leave my "Work" Mobile in the workshop when I shut the doors at 7pm, and obviously do not answer that or the business Land Line any time outside 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday. Customers are allowed to come to the Business between 8am and 6 pm Mon to Fri, any other times for collection / delivery of Cars they get told, leave Keys or keys left at xxx place, just drop it off / pick it up and go, do not knock at House !! One local years ago thought he could knock at our House all sorts of times at night, he got bluntly told the first time and second time I have fucked him off and will never do any business with him again New Customers get politely told the rules. That is the only drawback of working next to my home
  14. Very true, I put more miles on my Van than anything else, it's nice to drive and goes like the clappers (RHX 2.0 HDI Expert) But once every couple of days, and holidays etc it's nice to get in a decent Car and go somewhere in clean clothes and shoes as opposed to work gear / overalls and boots
  15. If he is near me he's obviously one of the very few who I've had to educate to stay the fuck outta my place, cos I don't do twats !! But if he travelled 200 miles to get to you then he won't be in the Highlands, I am ~ 300 miles from the border Me too /\ /\ /\ like LOL, I'm sure we all could, that's why I'm up here, much less of it, and much less traffic .................. Oh there's another for the list .................. Tourists in Camper Vans / towing Caravans / loaded up MPV's / Estate Cars etc with the bicycles on the roof rack or overhanging the back end, driving at 25 mph on a 60 mph A road and then slowing even further for every bend !!
  16. "Let me get my Crystal Ball Sir" Fuckin muppets most of 'em Where the fuck do you guys find these retards
  17. LOL, /\ /\ /\ LIKE I got a Car that will get down to 8 mpg, but that's a darned sight faster than a pinto Transit
  18. I too will agree with you, nothing is like the good old days
  19. Yep, I do a lot of them, also there is no longer a "Metal Trigger", it is now a magnetic Strip bonded to a metal piece that is pressed onto the CV Joints, of course when the water and salt gets to it it corrodes and falls apart
  20. Simply clearing codes does not fix the Problem, it may make it go away if an intermittent fault but you just know it will surface again when you least need it too. I agree with Stalker, firstly it needs reading on BMW INPA / ISTA and second, let him run the Vin for you to see if it is that internal pressure sensor, 'cos more often than not it is Oh, other ECU's putting up a light at the same time as a fault in another system is commonplace these days, each ECU talks to each other "CAN Com" so you get codes appear everywhere.
  21. What are you using to read it ? Chances are there are other Codes in the Engine ECU, like a CAN Comm fault transmitted from ABS DSC ECU, but you can't see it Agree with Nick, there are known faults and fixes with that ECU
  22. LOL, yeah, I had a Thames Trader waaaay back, put a straight 6 Zephyr Engine in it That Diesel recovery Truck ended up with a V6 Granada / Consul Engine Everything is still fixable, it just isn't always economical to do so these days
  23. So who's all old enough to remember the Mk I Ford Transit Diesels, they would never start on a real cold morning, even when new and under warranty Ford did a re call and, bet you can't guess ....................... They fitted a Glass Jar under the bonnet, plumbed into a manual windscreen washer pump fixed in the Cab, pipe going back into Air Intake, and they sold bottles of ether to fill it up, 3 or 4 pumps and crank it over ..................... I shit you not, that was the official Ford Motor Co Fix Was it the "York" Engine ?? I can't remember now I had one in a Recovery Truck, found that they would start better with the Pump retarded a bit, but would smoke like a bastard !! Ahhhhh, the good old days, long before "Emissions Testing" and "Tree Huggers" were invented
