OK Mark, That Car is an R171 He He you'll know that cos the VIN Number starts xxx171 I wasn't endorsing that firm, it was just the first one I came across, wanted to give you an example of what you're looking for ................... That's the Head Unit you are aiming for, tbh they aren't usually an overnight delivery, I waited about 10 days for the one I put in my R170 You can't buy a used Merc unit for that, and they all fuck up in short order anyways that's how I've done so many Androids in Mercs And yes use a decent spark hopefully he's familiar with SDS Version Coding, MB's and Chinesium Androids

Mark, Double Din will look shit in this Car. Fakra's etc come with the proper ones .......... What model SLK is it ?? ............... R171 ? R172 ? This is the one for R171 as that is what I expect your Car is ............... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DVD-GPS-BT-ANDROID-8-1-DAB-CARPLAY-WIFI-MERCEDES-BENZ-SLK-CLASS-W171-R171-K5576/264051925916?hash=item3d7ab8a39c:g:Ba0AAOSwE9Bb9Hoc These guys are a good UK seller, with decent after sales service Don't let Joe Bloggs ICE Cowboys fit the bloody thing, until you've done 1 or 2 they are a bit of a nightmare as the "instructions" are Chinglish Bin Fodder. You must hook it into the Cars CAN Bus and configure it correctly, then they are great units You must not connect wires like Acc +, Reverse Trigger, Illumination, etc etc as the CAN Bus tells the H/U what to do and when, a lot of guys connect all this stuff, don't configure them correctly and then moan that they don't work right Those wires are only there because they share the motherboards on other units that go in non CAN Bus Cars Speakers are also a bit of a pain if it's a BOSE F/Optic Car, and you also have to remove certain stuff and get SDS to Code things to say they aren't present otherwise you get battery Drain because CAN Bus stays awake looking for parts that are no longer there Don't let this put you off, they are great when done, and it's not as difficult as it sounds, but they aren't simple plug and play like a lot of guys would have you believe, still worth the effort over others on the market tho I've done a few now so gimme a shout if you aren't sure. Reverse Cam wiring is a wank job on SLK, due to needing careful routing to avoid folding roof mechanism BTW, if you use the Chinese F/O converter they sound shit and Fader doesn't work, we wire the H/U's 50w x 4 Channels to the speaker leads from the Bose Amp, and ditch that, then we wire the Sub and Centre Dash using - from one channel and + from the other, so those 2 are Mono, woof on rear, and Centre Dash on front, I don't know if that applies to R171 or not, depends if it has those 2 as well as the regular 4 stereo speakers but that's how I did a few S & E Classes Then they sound great

Recovery of a vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act
Dave2302 replied to Arfur Dealy's topic in General Dealer Chat
I give up with this ................. A draft consultation document lol, there are millions out there, mostly written by tree hugging cretins with a beef about all kinds of subjects, a draft consultation is not law, it is a representation of the views of the author !! Anyways, that section covers rejection due to a major fault. What the hell does that have to do with recovering a Car to repair a minor fault !! -
I'd sell them at a loss after all they've been in stock a few years and must have depreciated a bit by now

Recovery of a vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act
Dave2302 replied to Arfur Dealy's topic in General Dealer Chat
So do I, but it wouldn't be worded anything like that ................ If you want to absolve yourself of almost everything it would go more like "This Vehicle is sold strictly on a Spares or Repairs basis therefore ...................................................................... " And I'll let you pay Lawgistics / your brief for the rest of it /\ /\ /\ This -
Recovery of a vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act
Dave2302 replied to Arfur Dealy's topic in General Dealer Chat
No !! Absolutely not !! The Judge will know fine well that the "Express Clause" negates the CRA, as long as Billy has signed it !! You would be onto a right winner if said judge fucked up and you appealed !! ...................... Ask a Brief if you don't believe me -
Recovery of a vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act
Dave2302 replied to Arfur Dealy's topic in General Dealer Chat
Absolutely /\ /\ /\ But ............... If you do do a freebie recovery then you should make it quite clear that it is a one off goodwill gesture ............... Quite frankly I'm fucked if I would do that, what kind of cheap skate twunt doesn't have RAC , Green Flag, AA etc Recovery plan these days anyways Any business in the UK can set it's own terms and conditions, and provided this is worded correctly and the purchaser has signed it to say they agree to the T&C's, then the said purchaser is bound by those terms, that is what "express clause of the agreement" means in plain Engleesh HTH, -
Recovery of a vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act
Dave2302 replied to Arfur Dealy's topic in General Dealer Chat
/\ /\ /\ like Exactly, glad to see that hasn't changed since I sold up the Gearbox firm, paperwork must always state that any Warranty is strictly RTB, and the Billy must sign to accept this and any other T&C's -
LMFAO Stick around, you'll see far better digressions (and transgressions ) than my mediocre efforts, there are some guys here who are masters of the art My computer screen often gets coffee spat at it followed by side splitting laughter I agree, what I would do here is, (if after the inspection I was certain it had been sabotaged), I'd offer a refund, less 45 pence per mile covered, and less the cost of repairing whatever said sabotage came to !! If there was ensuing threats etc I would then tell the punter to "Go forth and do your worst". Just make sure you cover all the bases and scenarios !! Thankfully I don't get these sort of morons these days, one of the many reasons I upped sticks, sold up and moved to a remote area Yeah, over the years there is now a few that have infiltrated up here, but I choose not to do business with them, can sniff them out a mile off

I agree, sounds like you won't have any of the common problems to worry about Good luck with it

Anyone use Shiply ?? It's kind of a one off for me, never normally get anything transported. The car is a scrapper for breaking, complete Car that looks OK, an old W220 S500 V8 that I want some parts off ............. It has to go from G74 (Glasgow) Postcode to IV40 (Kyle Highlands) , I've just registered for a quote, but if anyone knows anyone etc etc let me know, Car can be driven onto transporter but not on Road due to suspension issue and no MOT etc I was gonna borrow a 3.5t Sprinter Recovery Truck, but weight might be an issue as it's an 1855kg Car TIA

Transporters/recovery truck... shall I buy one?!
Dave2302 replied to GentlemanJames's topic in General Dealer Chat
Nice rig, but waaaaaay over weight It goes on up here a lot too but a few fellas have got impounded and all the aggro that goes with that, we do see VOSA up here a lot in the summer, they also check the Tour buses out as well BTW does anyone know exactly how much a 3.5 t Sprinter can carry legally, I've got a W220 S Class (1860 kg IIRC) to pick up from Glasgow very soon and usually borrow the Sprinter off a buddy Hmmmmm a quick check suggests a 1400kg Car would be borderline for a RWD 3.5 t Sprinter -
Exactly this /\ /\ /\ The nice thing about the high end Autel is it will program stuff like version coding a PSE Pump on a Merc, coding an ABS pump on VAG shite, etc etc To add to Stalkers list ............ Jag / Land Rover , Mercedes SDS , Peugeot Citroen Lexia , Renault Can Clip , and more ................ I do have BMW INPA ISTA , but have never yet used it in anger, Snap On is very good with these since update, and the INPA ISTA is a temperamental twunt of a thing that I've never fully gotten my head around cos I haven't spent enough time with it on enough Beemers (and I'm using a decent Mux, not the K & D line Chinesium lead shit)

Transporters/recovery truck... shall I buy one?!
Dave2302 replied to GentlemanJames's topic in General Dealer Chat
Which of course means it usually is over the weight, unless you are putting very small Cars on a small transit sized truck with lightweight alloy body That is why all those years ago when I had Transmission Firm we had an Iveco 12 tonne with Tilt and Slide, a 7.5 tonner would be over GTW weight with a Range Rover / Shogun / Bentley etc etc on it !! -
Potential Billy ............ "why has it had a new Engine" Salesman .......... "Because they are shit" ............... Billy, "I didn't know that" and he walks Or they just think it's obviously been thrashed / not serviced / sunk / stolen recovered etc etc etc ................... Not worth mentioning it IMHO
-
So he's gonna give the buyer £100 cash and the car then ................... Bazinga !!
